I used to be Catholic, I am now a high-Anglican. Since becoming more Biblical literate I have stopped praying my daily rosary because it seems to be against what the Bible is about? I also live in Liverpool the England and the Catholic Church is really terrible, the worship is badly done, the preaching is uninformed and there is no outreach or community --- is this a sign of the true church?
I still do daily adoration with my friends, but I am having major issues with Catholicism
Free will is a gift from God. Those who seek for the Truth and humble themselves before the Holy Trinity, shall find the Truth. I am a revert Catholic. All people who reads the Holy Bible must meditate on John 6:43-70. Jesus is truly present in the Holy Eucharist. No one is saved unless His flesh and blood is eaten with full knowledge of His presence and free from sin through Sacrament of Confession. The Immaculate Heart of Mary will triumph! The Mother is leading us to Jesus, the Truth.
If the church as the priest stated in this video was to issue something that is flase then Jesus gives his assurance that the fires of he'll Wont prevail in essence he will forgive it as a sin. Over time though by grace the church will correct those errors as it has done before and Jesus will still bless them. He knows men aren't perfect but the hand of god is there to protect.
@punkyjunior895 Actually, the Church teaches the God does work through the Church, through imperfect popes and bishops to infallibly prevent heresy from being officially taught. This happens in a similar manner to how God gave us His word infallibly through very fallible Apostles. Fallible, that is, in every way accept in teaching the truth.
The truthf on Salvation is simple. The Catholic church dogmatically teaches, without water baptism, one cannot be saved. It has been defined 3 times.
Modernist heretics claim if you do not know that, you are OK, you are somehow granted baptism of desire. However, this is not a formal teaching of the Catholic church, but a heresy called Americanism. If people without baptism or knowing about the Catholic Church can be saved, their is NO reason to be CATHOLIC.
Now what if the earthly church passed doctrine that contradicted scripture which the Roman Catholic church have admitted to this day they have done. If Peter cannot be questioned then why was he rebuked by Saint Paul of Tarsus. The ultimate authority is not the Pope nor councils or officials of the church but that the Ultimate authority is God's word. Those who contradict God's word are in the wrong. The head of the church forever is Jesus Christ.
I think this might not be scriptural brother. Salvation is by Grace alone, Church affiliation is a fruit of salvation by ultimately it is nugatory with regards to salvation.
@kevfal Private Revelation cannot contradict public revelation. Public revelation tells us that the Gates of hell cannot prevail against the Church, Public Revelation tells us that the devil has prayed to sift St. Peter (and therefore the papacy) but Jesus has prayed that this would not be. The Papacy has therefore, according to Public Revelation, protection from the machinations of the devil.
I would say, and I'm sure the Pope agrees, Protestants are not in the Church per Dominus Iesus.
"[T]hey err who arbitrarily claim that the Church is something ...invisible,... On the contrary, as Christ, Head and Exemplar of the Church 'is not complete, if only His visible human nature is considered..., or if only His divine, invisible nature..., but He is one through the union of both and one in both ... so is it with His Mystical Body' ...so that He might consecrate in His blood the visible Society founded by Him and 'lead man back to things invisible under a visible rule.'" Pius XII MCC
@kevfal Just pointing out that one cannot posit a church that has visible members (actual Catholics) and invisible members (non-Catholics who are in invincible ignorance). That would violate Pope Pius XII's teaching that the Church, like Christ Himself, is one through the union of both and one in both. Since the invincibly ignorant pagan is not visibly in the Church, he cannot be invisibly, since that would be a dis-union in the Mystical Body that CANNOT exist. All members must be visibly so.
Invincible Ignorance becomes a destructive Heresy, obliterating the necessity of the Catholic Faith all over the World.
Defenders of salvation for the "invincibly ignorant" might be disquited to hear that two other popes, Pope Ben XIV & Pope St. Pius X, explicitly reiterated the Church's dogma that THERE ARE CERTAIN MYSTERIES OF FAITH ABOUT WHICH NO ONE WHO WISHES TO BE SAVED CAN BE IGNORANT. These are the mysteries of the Trinity and the Incarnation, as it was defined by the Athan.. Creed.
St. Thomas Aquinas (1226-1274), the Angelic Doctor: There is no entering into salvation outside the Catholic Church, just as in the time of the Flood there was not salvation outside the Ark, which denotes the Church."...

Also,
"provided they are in a state of grace"... How are members of these sects in a state of grace when Heresy is a Mortal Sin?
@xphilemike in order for someone to be a heretic, he must be aware of his heresy, if in ignorance he is out of the church, that I mean invincible ignorance, he has a chance to be saved.
@xphilemike For one to be guilty of mortal sin it stands to reason that a person has to have a clear understanding of what a mortal sin is. I sincerely doubt that most people who are outside the Church are aware that they actually believe and follow heretical ideas.
It's hard to reconcile your definition of who is inside the Church with the writings of the Saints.
St. Francis of Assisi (1182-1226): "All who have not believed that Jesus Christ was really the Son of God are doomed. Also, all who see the Sacrament of the Body of Christ and do not believe it is really the most holy Body and Blood of the Lord . . . these also are doomed!"
@franciscanfriars The realtionship of soul and body are never to be seperated. You promote false arguments that salvation can be had through the soul of the Church a spiritaul realtionship, by believing in a false religion they are inculpable of. The doctrine plainly states that no outside the Roman Catholic Church cannot be saved. Why do you water this doctrine down? Inculpable ingnorance has never been a means of salvation. To be saved we must be sanctified or in the state of grace.
@kevfal The Catholic Church also teaches that the Chruch is both visible and spiritual, and even the ancient Jews believed that righteous Gentiles were included in God's covenant as Paul alludes to in Romans. You get a 0/10 for your theoligical premise. This video is 100% correct.
I understand the true church to be the mystical body of Christ, made of up believers in Jesus Christ. Before there was a Roman church, there were many true believers spread throughout Palestine and the surrounding regions. Still I believe they had salvation. So, how can you say there is no salvation outside the Roman Catholic Church?
It's a good thing for you to try to live by Jesus' wisdom. But if you recognize that wisdom, then you should also be able to see in His words and deeds His claim to be divine and His teaching of an afterlife. (See "No Apologies" #39-44 )
If we can see that He is Divine, then we have to see that we are not able to accept only a part . Not believing all that He taught, is just as wrong as not putting into practice all that He taught. In this sense we say we are saved by both faith and deeds.
@mrfoxtalbot I wish to offer my humble thoughts on your question. First, only God knows whether you are condemned or not. Remember, the great apostle Paul also rejected Christ at first and even persecuted his followers. But instead of punishing him, God made Paul one of Christianity's finest defenders. The bottomline is, if God chooses to, He can make you a believer. But only God can do it. If He doesn't want to, then all your deeds are for nothing.
@mrfoxtalbot There is a problem there. If you recognize Jesus teachings as true, you must also accept his claim to divinity. Your position is not sound, either you're in or you're out, in my opinion.
The moderator has blocked kiwichristian2009 and removed at least a few dozen of his comments that he posted in quick succession. I believe these were so full of inconsistencies that refuting them would not be worth the effort. The end result would not be edifying or helpful. Further the discussion would have gone far afield from the main subject of the post.
Keep in mind that this is a forum for discussion not a place for long monologues.
My friend. You either misunderstand me, or wish to provoke an argument. The views i express here are not "just my opinion" or "just my interpretation", they are what the bible says. Take care.
@kiwichristian2009 :Holy Scripture is the story of God's revelation in history, written by men under the inspiration of the Holy Ghost, and contained in the OT and the NT. There are seventy-two (NOT 66) sacred books which make up the Bible.
Keep in mind even the Devil quoted the Bible, but the issue is how the Bible is interpreted. So to take #1 from your list you incorrectly interpret Matt 23:5-6 to be a condemnation of clerical dress when it's a condemnation of false religiousity done to please men. The reality is God Himself ordered the use of priestly vestments (See Exodus 28 for example) so one may ask why so called Bible-Christians don't adhere to this revelation.
Even the Devil quoted the Bible, but the issue is of poor interpretation. Taking #1 off your list, Matt 23:5 doesn't condemn priestly vestments, it condemns a false religiousity done to please men. Keep in mind priestly vestments were ordered by God to begin with, see Exodus 28 for example, so one may ask why so called Bible-Christians don;t uphold the the whole scripture.
It's really beyond the scope of this text box to address every point but ultimately it rests on false interpretation and/or misunderstandings of Catholicism. So for example #2 can be resolved by simply informing you that the Church condemns the adoration of Mary, only God is to be adored. But then there is the issue of your poor interpretation... that passage does not condemn adoration of Mary to begin with. Also cf Luke 1:48
@kiwichristian2009 Without Tradition we could not know what the Bible is. Prots. claim that the Bible is the sole rule of faith. However, in no place of the Bible it says that one must believe only what is written in it. Without Tradition the Bible cannot have any authority. Prots can't be certain that the books they have accepted are genuine. On whose authority have they accepted what they have? Can't be God. The "King James" omit all or parts of the Books of Tobias, Judith, Wisdon and...
@kiwichristian2009 The Bible can't be the sole guide to salvation because the Bible is not within the reach of every one. And also the Bible doesn't contain all the truths necessary for salvation. We accept the Bible as the Word of God on the authority of the Catholic Church. It was the Catholic Church that in the 4th cent. declared which books were inspired by God and which were not. The Catholic Church alone was empowered by God to interpret the Bible.
10. Why does it teach that there is one mediator instead of many? (1 Tim. 2:5).
11. Why does it teach that a bishop must be a married man? (1 Tim. 3:2, 4-5).
12. Why is it opposed to the primacy of Peter? (Luke 22:24-27).
13. Why does it oppose the idea of purgatory? (Luke 16:26).
14. Why is it completely silent about infant baptism, instrumental music in worship, indulgences, confession to priests, the rosary, the mass, and many other things in the Catholic Church?
@kiwichristian2009 The Prot. denom. who favor private interpretation have divided and subdivided for the same reason. No two of them interpret the Bible in the same manner. If we are really to interpret the Bible privately, we must know the original languages in which the books were written. How many can have that knowledge? Did God intend Holy Scripture to be OUR RULE of FAITH? No, God intended our rule of faith to be the Living voice of the teaching Church.
@kiwichristian2009 We can know the true meaning of the doctrines contained in Divine Revelation from the Catholic Church, which has been authorized by Jesus Christ to explain His doctrines, and which is preserved from error in its teachings by the special assistance of the Holy Ghost.
No one certainly pretends to live in society according to his own private interpretation of the civil laws. When cases come up, they are always decided by a competent tribunal.
I have quoted many verses from the Bible which the cc ignores or does the complete opposite. Ex20:4 hou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth."Ex20:5Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them:" Do you bow to statues of Mary? Yes or No? God tells us there is but ONE mediator, Jesus, you say No, there is another. The church teaches that the Pope is god.
Some Protestants are really stupid giving their places of worship names like the Church of Christ, the Church of the Lord, the Nazarenes, the Followers of the Way, etc because they point to verses in the Bible where names like this are used as ADJECTIVES for the true CHURCH (The Catholic Church and the Greek Orthodox Church) to claim to people that they are the Church Christ started more than 2000 years ago, but they have only been around for like 5,10, 20 years.
Mormonism, Voodoo, Jehohovas Witness, David Koresh, Jim Jones, Black Power Theology, Wicca, etc The list is endless.
Protestants are Christians as much as Buddhists are. They believe in psychotic delusions like speaking in foreign Asian languages guarentees a ticket to heaven. They are NOT Christians, they are retarded and need mental help.
Coarse and foul language is not very charitable. Please, let us refrain from that manner speech and reserve judgement.
Better we recognize that the reason oft someone is outside the Fullness of Faith; that is, the Catholic Church, is usually a hardness of heart and not a hardness of head.
A hard heart prevents the great potential of Christian spiritual and Christian intellectual growth.
Protestants are followers of the 16th century Satanic false prophet Martin Luther. Out of him came 35,000 protestant cults, each one thinking they're 'right'. But they arent right, they are indeed the children of Lucifer.
The Catholic church is the true Christian church established by Lord Jesus through Peter, to whom he gave the Keys. It has withstood the test of time, never splintered for 2 thousand years and has remained the one, holy and apostolic Church.
Pray to God (Father), Jesus Christ (Son), and the Holy Spirit ONLY because that is God! Bless the Virgin Mary but I tell she will not get you saved or forgiven for your sins and neither will the pope, pastor, or anyone who say they will. God wants a personal relation ship with his people, not throw someone else. Read and study the bible and your eyes will be opened. Stop trusting on laws made by man and TRUST ONLY IN GOD!!
Trust in God! Amen to that so, start getting on your knees for him not humans. Its not of any surprise that you say what you say brother. Idol and icons lol you kidding right, last time I remembered thats what catholics are about. I know what each mean but maybe I dont please tell me...
There is something quite epidemic among American protestants: a gross ignorence regarding the Christian faith in its pure form, i.e. Catholicism.
Do you even know the difference between an icon and an idol???
And you can stop using such imperative language: I do not listen to humans without any authority from God, the less I listen to heretics who try to revivce ancient heresies condemned by the ancient Church.
I guess you dont believe in the gospel of God... your answers are of no good. Let me tell you that the gospel of God is now an open book of prophecies that you and all of the people on earth are now seeing unfold infront of EVERYONES eyes and soon your church will get more power but soon after that truth will come to everyone. THE GOSPEL OF GOD GIVES US TRUTH AND ANSWERS! You and you church have only shed blood of saints and no answers or, if any anwers they have been your own not God's. TRUE!
Who do you think you are to dismiss the scriptures of the Lord?... Thats the problem with catholics and their man made laws. You have not shown any proof of what you speak and if you ask for any proof from me I tell you the Lord speaks with his scriptures of the bible.
You see, the problem starts when you begin bearing false witness and claiming false things about us.
Unlike protestants: we hold on to the Holy Bible without rejecting some books of it.
The Bible does not speak: it is a book which relies on interpretation. Unless you claim to be an infallible interpreter, I am not at all interested in your private and false opinions.
This is why the catholics forbid reading the Holy bible. The catholic bible will not say this. God is good and he want you to get to know him, not through popes, priest, or any of its kind.
Ephesians 2: 8
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith -and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God -not by works, so that no one can boast.
John 14:6
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
BlackCappa, Why is it 'only American protestants'? Can you say for certain there aren't others who feel the same way that JDIProductions does? In the mean while, I've learned to pray for everyone, everywhere just as the Bible has told me to do. I guess the main problem I have w/veneration is that the Bible states, Jesus is our advocate, so what good does it do me to pray & ask for Mary or anyone else in heaven's help? As for purgatory, why does the Bible say 'death then the judgment'?
Jesus is GOD. Therefore, we can go to Jesus directly but we can also turn to those in Heaven just like we turn to those on Earth to pray for us. As for Purgatory in one of St. Paul's letters he even states that nothing impure can enter Heaven, so if you aren't fully pure enough to enter Heaven but not impure enough to enter Hell, then when your soul separates from your body your soul must go somewhere and that is Purgatory.
No, we cannot turn to ANYONE in heaven apart from God. Again, this is a catholic church invention and fairytale. The bible PROVES this. There is no such place as purgatory. The doctrine of Purgatory was first established by Gregory the Great about the year....593. It did not come from God, it was NOT taught by Jesus.
I say "American protestants" because the polemical and seemingly historically ignorant portion of protestants that rely a lot on conspiracy theories and twisted history I have met thus far mostly come directly from the US of have their sources there.
on the video: Perhaps we should emphasize more the meaning of "invincible ignorance" and that there are not really that many who can be considered invincibly ignorant and thus spiritual members of the Church.
Get something straight buddy... MOST Catholics do not read the bible and for that reason you do not uncover the truth about your church. You have to follow the bibles teachings boy not "THE CHURCH". There hundreds of "Christian" churches and they all look dumb because they dont know what they are talking about or they dont know what they r doing. Read the scripture of the seven churches in the bible, you will find your catholics on there pretty well. Thats even if you read it...
This did not tell me anything about catholics and please do not add things yourself because that is a sin.
There are to many scriptures in the Bible that prove you and the catholic church is wrong. This is enough wrong doing for me, 1 Timothy 2:5
For there is one God and one mediator BETWEEN GOD AND MEN, the man Crist Jesus. To ME, that means not the pope or priest or the Virgin Mary mother of Jesus.
OH ok... That explains why catholics get down of knees n pray to several different idols. Read and study the bible, it does not lie. Religion is only making everyone confused, lost, and they are miss lead by other people. Catholics have based so many of their celebrations and laws that cordinate with pagan ways. Its sad how obvious all this is when you read the bible and yet millions are lost, but thats because no one wants to take the time to read n stufy the bible. No wonder most will perish.
BlackCappa, Excuse me for butting in here, but why are you asking JDIProductions to explain what the Bible is (I always thought it was the infalliable Word of God, given by inspiritation of the Holy Spirit??), how many books it has (66 main ones with a few left out as far as I know), and what authority can be trusted regarding the canonicity of those books (that's a little hard to say especially when it comes to us humans, but 'God & Jesus' knows)? I understand veneration but is it scriptural?
I ask him about the canonicity of the books because if he cannot account for canonicity, then he should not be claiming the Bible as his authority at all: for he would have no way to even know what "the Bible" is.
Pope Benedict XV said of Mary that [O]ne can justly say that with Christ, she herself redeemed mankind. [10] Pope Pius IX said, Our salvation is based upon the holy Virgin... so that if there is any hope and spiritual healing for us we receive it solely and uniquely from her. [11]
Please, identify the affiliation, denomination, or sect to which you subscribe. I make this request in so much as it is not virtuous to leave us in the dark; not framing the debate beyond the all-to-frequent violation of the First Commandment; idolaltry of the Sacred Scriptures. Or, put more bluntly: anthropomorphically making the Bible out to be another God.
The Bible is not your God; the Most Blessed Trinity is your God. Draw knowledge into your heart through Communion.
No, the bible is not God but it is a guide from God to the people so that they will not be deceive by man made religions, laws, decrees, and much more. The Bible is the word of God not man. I am from no where or no one. I stand with the scriptures of the Lord. My GOD is THE FATHER, THE SON, and THE HOLY SPIRIT. We now are seeing how the prophecies of the bible are begining to come to life and soon in time God will destroy all those who deceive with the Deceiver. I pray for all of you.
The only delusional ones are those who do not believe in his word. So many priest that finally pick up the REAL Bible they leave that false religion and sadly some get killed for that. But the Lord is good and lets some live so that they can expose what catholics do and how they do it. DECEIVERS!!
A matter of what is, perhaps, semantics, whereas, language has real meaning but in itself is never exact and always contains within the language latent layers waiting to be peeled back, like an onion. As each man is entirely unique so are his words.
The Sacred Scriptures are not a machine, or a tool; rather a work of art, in so much as they are a Divinely inspired product of men. Philosophy is one tool useful for interpreting such an artwork.
I think this video over-emphasises the differences between faiths; There are many more similarities than suggested- you're all nut-jobs for starters.....
The difference between heresy and orthodoxy is the difference between Truth and Perversion, a stark contrast indeed. To suggest that the Catholic Church, through the grace of Christ, the only instrument by which men are saved, is akin to the heresies of Protestantism, the Eastern "Orthodox," Mohammedism, and the various pagan abominations is laughable. Understand that it is through Christ and His Church that men are saved, without which there can be no salvation. This is the great distinction.
By the fact that you call those who proclaim Truth "nutjobs," you are obviously an atheist who hates God and hates His manifest glory in the world. You cling to the postmodern hippie culture, which exults vice and sin, and hates all that is proper and pure. You live though life lusting for the superficial, and when you die, you will know the error of your ways, and suffer eternally for them. I pray that you convert to the One True Faith, the Catholic Church, and that you repent and live piously.
Sounds like you would be burning heretics at the stake if you lived a few hundred years ago. Antipope John Paul II? The man who was shot twice and survived? The Pope who saved Europe from socialism? I have no doubt that he is a Saint. Are you trying to create further divisions in our Church?
Thomas Aquinas, one of the most distinguished Doctors of the Church, advocated for not only the excommunication of heretics, but also their trial and execution; this view is shared with the Early Church Fathers as well. While it is proper to try and convert the heretics to the Universal Church, if they refuse, their blasphemy should not be tolerated. Heresy is a disease that perverts the Truth and leads men astray from salvation, which is the worst crime imaginable, as it kills body and soul.
I feel very sorry for you if you truly feel that the early Church was right for excecuting these people. I think you have forgotton what it is to be a Catholic, we are Christian, followers and imitators of Christ. Not muderers!
There is no possible way that JP II could have been pope, as he was a manifest heretic. As such, he is not even a Catholic, let alone able to be a pope. He claimed that Muslims and Catholics worship the same God, that all men are part of the Mystical Body of Christ, and that all men can be saved, among tens of other heresies. Just one heresy against the Faith invalidates him as a Catholic and renders him unable to hold apostolic office.
Furthermore, he perpetuated the heresy of Vatican II, which destroyed the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass with the counterfeit Novus Ordo Missae. The whole of the New Mass is invalid, and worse than any Protestant service, as it is a direct mockery of the Catholic Truth. There is no sacrifice in the New Mass, as the Form of the Consecration has been changed drastically. You are worshiping bread at the New Mass, not Christ.
By supporting John Paul II and the heretical Novus Ordo, you are yourself a manifest heretic and not a Catholic. You must recognize that you are in a state of mortal sin, and, if you care at all about your immortal soul, confess to a priest who has been ordained in the pre-Vatican II rite and receive the Eucharist daily from said valid priest.
I support John Paul II and everything he said. He was a great man and an excellent Pope, all Catholics were blessed to have him with us. I am a Catholic and I am not going to confession to a heretical priest that denies the authority of the Pope.
By going to a Vatican II Mass and confessing to a Vatican II priest, you are admitting your heresy. I am not going to argue with you if you persist in your wrongdoing, but rather pray for your soul that it might be saved from damnation. Our Lady of La Salette predicted that Rome would be the seat of the Antichrist, and the Vatican II sect is precisely that. It remains that the Catholic Church is the One True Church of Christ, yet what you worship in Rome now is nothing short of Satan.
I do not worship anything in Rome, in fact I do not worship anything but God. I do follow the Pope's authority which is most fundamental to Catholic tradition. You claim that you hold the truth, but why should I believe you and not the Pope? We can accompolish a lot more if we are united in faith rather than split apart.
St. Basil the Great proclaimed that even if the number of faithful was cut down to a handful, they would be the true Church. The man in Rome since the death of Pius XII, claiming to be pope, is a ruse. He is a heretic for destroying the dogmas and traditions of Christ's Immaculate Bride, the Catholic Church, through the embracing of the Vatican II modernist heresy, which Pope St. Pius X called the synthesis of all heresies. You cling to the authority of an impostor.
Unless you recognize that the Vatican II sect is a false imitation of the True Church, you will be in a state of mortal sin and will not be saved. I pray that your soul is saved through the intercession of Our Lady. If you refuse to recant, then God's justice shall rain on you, and you have only yourself to blame.
We should all disregard the history from the time of Jesus and listen to Nothwithstanding.
"We are compelled to concede to the Papists (Pope) that they have the Word of God, that we received it from them, and that without them we should have no knowledge of it at all." ~ Martin Luther THE FATHER OF PROTESTanism
The Vatican II sect is not the Church of Christ, just as all heretics cannot be the Church. While it remains true that the Catholic Church is the One True Faith established by Jesus, it is pure ignorance to the heresy of Vatican II to proclaim that what resides in Rome now is the Church. During the Arian heresy, it was said that less than one percent of all bishops retained Catholic truth. Does that mean that they were any less Catholic for being outnumbered? No. They were still the Church
In fact, since it was predicted by Our Lady of La Salette and in Sacred Scripture that the Great Apostasy before the Second Coming would be far greater than any previous, so much so that if were not shortened that even the elect wouldn't be saved, one would expect a far greater apostasy than the Arian heresy. It is not surprising that there are very few real Catholics in the world today, as our Lord predicted. The end of the world is at hand, repent or perish.
Few real Catholics without a pope as opposed to the teachings of Vatican I?
Indeed there are only few popes who are truthful to the Magisterium: many have schismed (like you), other are too liberal (as those who unashamedly misinterpret Vaticanum II), and many others are very suspicious of Vatican II.
What you promote in this video is heresy. Those who are not baptized members of the Catholic Church who are in a state of grace are destined for damnation. The idea that Protestants, schismatics and other heretics, due only to their conviction to their own heretical sect, are saved is insanity. This is supported by Unam Scantum, The Fourth Lateran Council, Cantate Dominio, and the whole of Sacred Tradition. You promote the heresy of universal salvation, and you yourself are destined for hell.
wow! are you Catholic? have you read the Catechism and what it says about salvation? If not I suggest you do. Saying this man is destined for hell is a terrible thing, only God has the power and the right to judge.
Manifest heretics and all heretical documents propounded by heretics, such as the Catechism of Antipope John Paul II, are to be resisted by the faithful with all of their might. The power of judgment is given to the Magisterium and the Vicar of Christ in personae Christi, in the form of dogma and Sacred Tradition, and the Church can never change it's theology, although it may clarify it through councils, as the Church never changes, as God never changes.
The teachings of the Holy Church, as displayed in the documents previously mentioned, cannot be overruled, as they are defined dogmatically and absolutely. Anyone who goes against these truths is a heretic, and cannot be a Catholic. Thus, anyone who believes that men can be saved without baptism in the Catholic Church is a heretic and does not warrant the title of Catholic. He is destined for eternal damnation. Thus is the case with all the Vatican II apostates, hellfire awaits you.
Notwithstanding is stating catholic truths, Vatican II is an abomination, a betrayal of the catholic faith. Educate yourself and look up the catechism of trent. The false catholics may have taken over the the buildings of the church, but the church itself lives on in its believers. God bless True Catholics and give them the means to retake Rome away from the heretics.
those inciting rebellion to the catholic faith are those who support Vatican II and wish to destroy the faith. I on the other hand call everyone to preserve what has been taught for hundreds of years, codified at the council of Trent.
sorry but as priest I feel ashamed! How can you say that outside of the catholic church, there is no salvation!? How can Catholic net back such position forgetting the Vatican II ? Please, we are in the XXI th century.
I agree with you Father, there are circumstances outside of the Catholic church in which salvation can be obtained, but how then can we examine the statement "outside the church there is no salvation" as mentioned by the Fathers of the Church?
As a Catholic I am very upset about what was revealed in the commission report on abuse done to children in Catholic reform schools in Ireland. Once again priests and nuns are caught in sadistic and sexual abuses of the vulnerable. So far the Church is silent on this matter. How can anyone believe that the Roman Catholic Church is the one true faith when this crap keeps happening? No apologies? You've got to be kidding!
As unfortunate and embarrassing as these reports are, the worthiness or unworthiness of the Church's members doesn't affect the claim to be the Church Christ founded. That claim is based on objective proofs taken from the Gospels (see "no apologies" #48-53)
Some have not taken advantage of the holiness offered through the Church, but that does not render the Church herself unholy.
But isnt the catholic church babylon? the pope supported nazi germany.. and they murdered evryone and worship mary who is but n earthling.. and have idols.. when Mosses clearly got angry for having even a golden calf...
I.E. It would NOT be correct to say that, for instance, the Church that the Apostles Bartholemew and Thaddeus founded (the Armenian Orthodox Church) is not a part of the Catholic Church. The Apostolic lineage still goes back to Christ, although through different Apostles.
If by "Catholic Church" you mean the "Universal Church" i.e. those founded by the apostles (including the Orthodox Churches) I would agree with you. However, if you claim that salvation is only possible in the Roman Catholic Church, I would say you are deluding yourself. Romans split off from the Orthodox, not the other way around.
I think it's important to understand what is meant by salvation. We know that few people can enter Heaven without passing through Purgatory first, so when we say Salvation can only be gained through the Catholic Church it seems obvious to me that this means to say that no one can enter heaven (without cleansing in purgatory) without being a full participant in the Salvation given through the Catholic Church.
You don't mean to say that salvation is exclusive for Catholics do you? Like if a Muslim dies a righteous man but is ignorant of the Gospel he will be saved but only in the second ressurection and after purgatorial cleansing.
Those who believe that the religion to which they belong is the true religion, or those who through no fault of their own are ignorant of the whole truth, can leave this life in the state of grace and obtain their salvation. (Whether through Purgatory or not)
That's interesting I always thought that if you weren't Catholic you would obtain salvation but I assumed there would be purgatory required. Am I wrong in assuming that?
We can't say that it's impossible. If a soul is in the state of grace and all temporal punishment has been remitted than they can go straight to heaven just like any other.
Just how often this happens without any kind of contact with the Church, the Sacraments, etc. is another question.
Yea it's a difficult issue. Especially I think when we bring up Protestants, they believe and adhere to the basics of scripture but deny Jesus' real pressence in the Eucharist. Jesus said that unless we eat his flesh and blood we cannot have life and Paul said if we eat without discerning the Body and Blood of Christ we eat and drink judgement on ourselves. And yet! lol Protestants often lead holy Godly lives and have very close relationships with Jesus lol. It's confusing indeed.
"It is not enough that the body of the Church should be an unbroken unity; it must also be something definite and perceptible to the senses as Our predecessor, Leo XIII, in his Encyclical Satis Cognitum asserts: "the Church is visible because she is a body." Hence they err in a matter of divine truth, who imagine the Church to be invisible, intangible, by which many Christian communities, though they differ from each other in their profession of faith, are united by an invisible bond. "PIUS XII
What about the Orthodox Church? Is it not part of the Universal Church founded by Jesus and the Apostles?

He knows men aren't perfect but the hand of god is there to protect.
punkyjunior895 10 months ago
@punkyjunior895 Actually, the Church teaches the God does work through the Church, through imperfect popes and bishops to infallibly prevent heresy from being officially taught. This happens in a similar manner to how God gave us His word infallibly through very fallible Apostles. Fallible, that is, in every way accept in teaching the truth.
franciscanfriars 6 months ago

Creed.

To be saved we must be sanctified or in the state of grace.
josh27149 9 months ago
@kevfal The Catholic Church also teaches that the Chruch is both visible and spiritual, and even the ancient Jews believed that righteous Gentiles were included in God's covenant as Paul alludes to in Romans. You get a 0/10 for your theoligical premise. This video is 100% correct.

I got a question , I wonder i you might help here:
I recognize the wisdom of Jesus´ teachings and try to live my life according to them, but I do not belive in Jesus´ divinity or in the afterlife.
Am I condemned in God´s eyes?
If so, Isn´t salvation achieved through deeds and not just by faith alone?
Thank you.
Peace to everyone.
mrfoxtalbot 1 year ago
It's a good thing for you to try to live by Jesus' wisdom. But if you recognize that wisdom, then you should also be able to see in His words and deeds His claim to be divine and His teaching of an afterlife. (See "No Apologies" #39-44 )
If we can see that He is Divine, then we have to see that we are not able to accept only a part . Not believing all that He taught, is just as wrong as not putting into practice all that He taught. In this sense we say we are saved by both faith and deeds.
franciscanfriars 1 year ago 4
@mrfoxtalbot I wish to offer my humble thoughts on your question. First, only God knows whether you are condemned or not. Remember, the great apostle Paul also rejected Christ at first and even persecuted his followers. But instead of punishing him, God made Paul one of Christianity's finest defenders. The bottomline is, if God chooses to, He can make you a believer. But only God can do it. If He doesn't want to, then all your deeds are for nothing.
mpenaco 1 year ago
@mrfoxtalbot There is a problem there. If you recognize Jesus teachings as true, you must also accept his claim to divinity. Your position is not sound, either you're in or you're out, in my opinion.

kiwichristian2009 1 year ago
@kiwichristian2009 :Holy Scripture is the story of God's revelation in history, written by men under the inspiration of the Holy Ghost, and contained in the OT and the NT. There are seventy-two (NOT 66) sacred books which make up the Bible.
OT-45 books: 21 historical books;7 doctrinal books; 17 prophetical books.
NT-27 books:4 Gospels; Acts of the Apostles;21 epistles;The Apocalypse
The four Gospels and the Acts are mainly historical. The Epistles are doctrinal. The Apoc. is prophetical.

How can i be a heretic when i quote the bible?
kiwichristian2009 1 year ago
Keep in mind even the Devil quoted the Bible, but the issue is how the Bible is interpreted. So to take #1 from your list you incorrectly interpret Matt 23:5-6 to be a condemnation of clerical dress when it's a condemnation of false religiousity done to please men. The reality is God Himself ordered the use of priestly vestments (See Exodus 28 for example) so one may ask why so called Bible-Christians don't adhere to this revelation.
mmorrtt 1 year ago
Even the Devil quoted the Bible, but the issue is of poor interpretation. Taking #1 off your list, Matt 23:5 doesn't condemn priestly vestments, it condemns a false religiousity done to please men. Keep in mind priestly vestments were ordered by God to begin with, see Exodus 28 for example, so one may ask why so called Bible-Christians don;t uphold the the whole scripture.
mmorrtt 1 year ago
The following list give a summation of what we have been trying to emphasize. If the Bible is a Catholic book,
1. Why does it condemn clerical dress? (Matt. 23:5-6).
2. Why does it teach against the adoration of Mary? (Luke 11:27-28).
3. Why does it show that all Christians are priests? (1 Pet. 2:5,9).4. Why does it condemn the observance of special days? (Gal. 4:9-11).
5. Why does it teach that all Christians are saints? (1 Cor. 1:2).
kiwichristian2009 1 year ago
It's really beyond the scope of this text box to address every point but ultimately it rests on false interpretation and/or misunderstandings of Catholicism. So for example #2 can be resolved by simply informing you that the Church condemns the adoration of Mary, only God is to be adored. But then there is the issue of your poor interpretation... that passage does not condemn adoration of Mary to begin with. Also cf Luke 1:48
mmorrtt 1 year ago
@kiwichristian2009 Without Tradition we could not know what the Bible is. Prots. claim that the Bible is the sole rule of faith. However, in no place of the Bible it says that one must believe only what is written in it. Without Tradition the Bible cannot have any authority. Prots can't be certain that the books they have accepted are genuine. On whose authority have they accepted what they have? Can't be God. The "King James" omit all or parts of the Books of Tobias, Judith, Wisdon and...
kevfal 1 year ago
6. Why does it condemn the making and adoration of images? (Ex. 20:4-5).
7. Why does it teach that baptism is immersion instead of pouring? (Col. 2:12).
8. Why does it forbid us to address religious leaders as "father"? (Matt. 23:9).
9. Why does it teach that Christ is the only foundation and not the apostle Peter? (1 Cor. 3:11).
10. Why does it teach that there is one mediator instead of many? (1 Tim. 2:5).
kiwichristian2009 1 year ago

BlackCappa 1 year ago
@kiwichristian2009 The Prot. denom. who favor private interpretation have divided and subdivided for the same reason. No two of them interpret the Bible in the same manner. If we are really to interpret the Bible privately, we must know the original languages in which the books were written. How many can have that knowledge? Did God intend Holy Scripture to be OUR RULE of FAITH? No, God intended our rule of faith to be the Living voice of the teaching Church.
kevfal 1 year ago
@kiwichristian2009 We can know the true meaning of the doctrines contained in Divine Revelation from the Catholic Church, which has been authorized by Jesus Christ to explain His doctrines, and which is preserved from error in its teachings by the special assistance of the Holy Ghost.
No one certainly pretends to live in society according to his own private interpretation of the civil laws. When cases come up, they are always decided by a competent tribunal.

In the mean while, I've learned to pray for everyone, everywhere just as the Bible has told me to do. I guess the main problem I have w/veneration is that the Bible states, Jesus is our advocate, so what good does it do me to pray & ask for Mary or anyone else in heaven's help? As for purgatory, why does the Bible say 'death then the judgment'?
jebeja 2 years ago
Jesus is GOD. Therefore, we can go to Jesus directly but we can also turn to those in Heaven just like we turn to those on Earth to pray for us. As for Purgatory in one of St. Paul's letters he even states that nothing impure can enter Heaven, so if you aren't fully pure enough to enter Heaven but not impure enough to enter Hell, then when your soul separates from your body your soul must go somewhere and that is Purgatory.
eljunior98 2 years ago 2
No, we cannot turn to ANYONE in heaven apart from God. Again, this is a catholic church invention and fairytale. The bible PROVES this. There is no such place as purgatory. The doctrine of Purgatory was first established by Gregory the Great about the year....593. It did not come from God, it was NOT taught by Jesus.

I understand veneration but is it scriptural?
jebeja 2 years ago
I ask him about the canonicity of the books because if he cannot account for canonicity, then he should not be claiming the Bible as his authority at all: for he would have no way to even know what "the Bible" is.
Some people just take things for granted.
BlackCappa 2 years ago
Because catholics like to play word-games to validate their satanic doctrine and beliefs. Veneration is NOT biblical
kiwichristian2009 1 year ago
Pope Benedict XV said of Mary that [O]ne can justly say that with Christ, she herself redeemed mankind. [10] Pope Pius IX said, Our salvation is based upon the holy Virgin... so that if there is any hope and spiritual healing for us we receive it solely and uniquely from her. [11]
So, you are wrong.
kiwichristian2009 1 year ago
My dear child,
Please, identify the affiliation, denomination, or sect to which you subscribe.
Draw knowledge into your heart through Communion.
ammazzamoro 2 years ago
No, the bible is not God but it is a guide from God to the people so that they will not be deceive by man made religions, laws, decrees, and much more. The Bible is the word of God not man. I am from no where or no one. I stand with the scriptures of the Lord. My GOD is THE FATHER, THE SON, and THE HOLY SPIRIT. We now are seeing how the prophecies of the bible are begining to come to life and soon in time God will destroy all those who deceive with the Deceiver. I pray for all of you.
JDIProductions 2 years ago
What is the Bible? How many books does it have?
Where does it come from? Who has rightful authority to correctly interpret it?
You???
The prayer of those who rebel against God are abominable.
BlackCappa 2 years ago
The only delusional ones are those who do not believe in his word. So many priest that finally pick up the REAL Bible they leave that false religion and sadly some get killed for that. But the Lord is good and lets some live so that they can expose what catholics do and how they do it. DECEIVERS!!
JDIProductions 2 years ago
You have not answered even the question as to what the Bible is.
I realize that you can do nothing but make polemical and statements and to bear false witness against the Church of the living God.
May God have mercy on your soul.

Why did the catholic council REJECT the aprocrypha for so long before accepting it?
kiwichristian2009 1 year ago
@kiwichristian2009
1) the apocrypha still is not part of the Bible
2) if you mean the Deuterocanon, then it has been part of the very first canonical codification within the Church
3) no 66 book "canon" was known to the ancient Church
BlackCappa 1 year ago
A matter of what is, perhaps, semantics, whereas, language has real meaning but in itself is never exact and always contains within the language latent layers waiting to be peeled back, like an onion. As each man is entirely unique so are his words.
The Sacred Scriptures are not a machine, or a tool; rather a work of art, in so much as they are a Divinely inspired product of men. Philosophy is one tool useful for interpreting such an artwork.
Thank you for your prayers. You are very kind.

I think this video over-emphasises the differences between faiths; There are many more similarities than suggested- you're all nut-jobs for starters.....
Zalvation3 2 years ago
The difference between heresy and orthodoxy is the difference between Truth and Perversion, a stark contrast indeed. To suggest that the Catholic Church, through the grace of Christ, the only instrument by which men are saved, is akin to the heresies of Protestantism, the Eastern "Orthodox," Mohammedism, and the various pagan abominations is laughable. Understand that it is through Christ and His Church that men are saved, without which there can be no salvation. This is the great distinction.
Nothwithstanding 2 years ago
By the fact that you call those who proclaim Truth "nutjobs," you are obviously an atheist who hates God and hates His manifest glory in the world. You cling to the postmodern hippie culture, which exults vice and sin, and hates all that is proper and pure. You live though life lusting for the superficial, and when you die, you will know the error of your ways, and suffer eternally for them. I pray that you convert to the One True Faith, the Catholic Church, and that you repent and live piously.
Nothwithstanding 2 years ago 2
Sounds like you would be burning heretics at the stake if you lived a few hundred years ago. Antipope John Paul II? The man who was shot twice and survived? The Pope who saved Europe from socialism? I have no doubt that he is a Saint. Are you trying to create further divisions in our Church?
LiamUK456 2 years ago 2
Thomas Aquinas, one of the most distinguished Doctors of the Church, advocated for not only the excommunication of heretics, but also their trial and execution; this view is shared with the Early Church Fathers as well. While it is proper to try and convert the heretics to the Universal Church, if they refuse, their blasphemy should not be tolerated. Heresy is a disease that perverts the Truth and leads men astray from salvation, which is the worst crime imaginable, as it kills body and soul.
BeYoNdThEDrAgOn 2 years ago
I feel very sorry for you if you truly feel that the early Church was right for excecuting these people. I think you have forgotton what it is to be a Catholic, we are Christian, followers and imitators of Christ. Not muderers!
LiamUK456 2 years ago
There is no possible way that JP II could have been pope, as he was a manifest heretic. As such, he is not even a Catholic, let alone able to be a pope. He claimed that Muslims and Catholics worship the same God, that all men are part of the Mystical Body of Christ, and that all men can be saved, among tens of other heresies. Just one heresy against the Faith invalidates him as a Catholic and renders him unable to hold apostolic office.
Nothwithstanding 2 years ago
Furthermore, he perpetuated the heresy of Vatican II, which destroyed the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass with the counterfeit Novus Ordo Missae. The whole of the New Mass is invalid, and worse than any Protestant service, as it is a direct mockery of the Catholic Truth. There is no sacrifice in the New Mass, as the Form of the Consecration has been changed drastically. You are worshiping bread at the New Mass, not Christ.
Nothwithstanding 2 years ago
By supporting John Paul II and the heretical Novus Ordo, you are yourself a manifest heretic and not a Catholic. You must recognize that you are in a state of mortal sin, and, if you care at all about your immortal soul, confess to a priest who has been ordained in the pre-Vatican II rite and receive the Eucharist daily from said valid priest.
Nothwithstanding 2 years ago
I support John Paul II and everything he said. He was a great man and an excellent Pope, all Catholics were blessed to have him with us. I am a Catholic and I am not going to confession to a heretical priest that denies the authority of the Pope.
LiamUK456 2 years ago
By going to a Vatican II Mass and confessing to a Vatican II priest, you are admitting your heresy. I am not going to argue with you if you persist in your wrongdoing, but rather pray for your soul that it might be saved from damnation. Our Lady of La Salette predicted that Rome would be the seat of the Antichrist, and the Vatican II sect is precisely that. It remains that the Catholic Church is the One True Church of Christ, yet what you worship in Rome now is nothing short of Satan.
Nothwithstanding 2 years ago
I do not worship anything in Rome, in fact I do not worship anything but God. I do follow the Pope's authority which is most fundamental to Catholic tradition. You claim that you hold the truth, but why should I believe you and not the Pope? We can accompolish a lot more if we are united in faith rather than split apart.
LiamUK456 2 years ago
Nothwithstanding 2 years ago
Unless you recognize that the Vatican II sect is a false imitation of the True Church, you will be in a state of mortal sin and will not be saved. I pray that your soul is saved through the intercession of Our Lady. If you refuse to recant, then God's justice shall rain on you, and you have only yourself to blame.
Nothwithstanding 2 years ago
Nothwithstanding please answer these:
You mean to say Jesus himself let this happened to his only Church (called Catholic)?
Do you believed that Jesus is INFALLIBLE right?
Why do you question his INFALLIBLE church?
Are you the 4th person I though their are only 3 person in the Trinity!
junmeskie 2 years ago
We should all disregard the history from the time of Jesus and listen to Nothwithstanding.
"We are compelled to concede to the Papists (Pope) that they have the Word of God, that we received it from them, and that without them we should have no knowledge of it at all." ~ Martin Luther THE FATHER OF PROTESTanism
junmeskie 2 years ago
The Vatican II sect is not the Church of Christ, just as all heretics cannot be the Church. While it remains true that the Catholic Church is the One True Faith established by Jesus, it is pure ignorance to the heresy of Vatican II to proclaim that what resides in Rome now is the Church. During the Arian heresy, it was said that less than one percent of all bishops retained Catholic truth. Does that mean that they were any less Catholic for being outnumbered? No. They were still the Church
Nothwithstanding 2 years ago
In fact, since it was predicted by Our Lady of La Salette and in Sacred Scripture that the Great Apostasy before the Second Coming would be far greater than any previous, so much so that if were not shortened that even the elect wouldn't be saved, one would expect a far greater apostasy than the Arian heresy. It is not surprising that there are very few real Catholics in the world today, as our Lord predicted. The end of the world is at hand, repent or perish.
Nothwithstanding 2 years ago
Few real Catholics without a pope as opposed to the teachings of Vatican I?
Indeed there are only few popes who are truthful to the Magisterium: many have schismed (like you), other are too liberal (as those who unashamedly misinterpret Vaticanum II), and many others are very suspicious of Vatican II.
The orthodox are the minority.

BlackCappa 1 year ago
What you promote in this video is heresy. Those who are not baptized members of the Catholic Church who are in a state of grace are destined for damnation. The idea that Protestants, schismatics and other heretics, due only to their conviction to their own heretical sect, are saved is insanity. This is supported by Unam Scantum, The Fourth Lateran Council, Cantate Dominio, and the whole of Sacred Tradition. You promote the heresy of universal salvation, and you yourself are destined for hell.
Nothwithstanding 2 years ago
wow! are you Catholic? have you read the Catechism and what it says about salvation? If not I suggest you do. Saying this man is destined for hell is a terrible thing, only God has the power and the right to judge.
LiamUK456 2 years ago
Manifest heretics and all heretical documents propounded by heretics, such as the Catechism of Antipope John Paul II, are to be resisted by the faithful with all of their might. The power of judgment is given to the Magisterium and the Vicar of Christ in personae Christi, in the form of dogma and Sacred Tradition, and the Church can never change it's theology, although it may clarify it through councils, as the Church never changes, as God never changes.
Nothwithstanding 2 years ago
The teachings of the Holy Church, as displayed in the documents previously mentioned, cannot be overruled, as they are defined dogmatically and absolutely. Anyone who goes against these truths is a heretic, and cannot be a Catholic. Thus, anyone who believes that men can be saved without baptism in the Catholic Church is a heretic and does not warrant the title of Catholic. He is destined for eternal damnation. Thus is the case with all the Vatican II apostates, hellfire awaits you.

Nothwithstanding is a typical "Anti Catholic"
junmeskie 2 years ago
Notwithstanding is stating catholic truths, Vatican II is an abomination, a betrayal of the catholic faith. Educate yourself and look up the catechism of trent. The false catholics may have taken over the the buildings of the church, but the church itself lives on in its believers. God bless True Catholics and give them the means to retake Rome away from the heretics.

No matter who sits at the Chair of Peter (The Bishop of Rome) after the "anti-Popes"
Is where we all true Catholic should follow and obey.
WE should not listen to another Martin Luther who want to rebel against Rome
IF WE BELIEVED IN JESUS CHRIST WE SHOULD ALSO BELIEVED THAT HE WILL NOT ABANDON HIS ONE & ONLY CHURCH - The Roman Catholic Church
and IF HIS CHURCH HAS BEEN INVADED BY HERETICS or LUCIFER I AM SURE JESUS WILL CORRECT IT.
You people has no right to REFORM - CORRECT JESUS CHURCH

those inciting rebellion to the catholic faith are those who support Vatican II and wish to destroy the faith. I on the other hand call everyone to preserve what has been taught for hundreds of years, codified at the council of Trent.

I agree with you Father, there are circumstances outside of the Catholic church in which salvation can be obtained, but how then can we examine the statement "outside the church there is no salvation" as mentioned by the Fathers of the Church?

Because as you already know Jesus Christ is the truth and the light. Anyone who denounces him will be denounced before the father in heaven.

Jesus deposited his faith in the Catholic Church (Matt. 16:18)...only
Jesus promised, "I will build my Church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it" (Matt. 16:18).
Meaning his church (Catholic) will never be destroyed by bad members and anti-Catholics until his return.

You've got to be kidding!
froberts7 2 years ago
As unfortunate and embarrassing as these reports are, the worthiness or unworthiness of the Church's members doesn't affect the claim to be the Church Christ founded. That claim is based on objective proofs taken from the Gospels (see "no apologies" #48-53)
Some have not taken advantage of the holiness offered through the Church, but that does not render the Church herself unholy.

Then the righteous will answer him and say, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink?
When did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you?
When did we see you ill or in prison, and visit you?'
And the king will say to them in reply, 'Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.'"

I.E. It would NOT be correct to say that, for instance, the Church that the Apostles Bartholemew and Thaddeus founded (the Armenian Orthodox Church) is not a part of the Catholic Church. The Apostolic lineage still goes back to Christ, although through different Apostles.
bassplayer10000 2 years ago
If by "Catholic Church" you mean the "Universal Church" i.e. those founded by the apostles (including the Orthodox Churches) I would agree with you. However, if you claim that salvation is only possible in the Roman Catholic Church, I would say you are deluding yourself. Romans split off from the Orthodox, not the other way around.
bassplayer10000 2 years ago
your statement is very debatable
LiamUK456 2 years ago
I think it's important to understand what is meant by salvation. We know that few people can enter Heaven without passing through Purgatory first, so when we say Salvation can only be gained through the Catholic Church it seems obvious to me that this means to say that no one can enter heaven (without cleansing in purgatory) without being a full participant in the Salvation given through the Catholic Church.
gointothetop 2 years ago
"No salvation outside the Church" includes all souls passing from this life who are going to obtain their salvation- via purgatory or not.
franciscanfriars 2 years ago
You don't mean to say that salvation is exclusive for Catholics do you? Like if a Muslim dies a righteous man but is ignorant of the Gospel he will be saved but only in the second ressurection and after purgatorial cleansing.
gointothetop 2 years ago
Those who believe that the religion to which they belong is the true religion, or those who through no fault of their own are ignorant of the whole truth, can leave this life in the state of grace and obtain their salvation. (Whether through Purgatory or not)
franciscanfriars 2 years ago
That's interesting I always thought that if you weren't Catholic you would obtain salvation but I assumed there would be purgatory required. Am I wrong in assuming that?
gointothetop 2 years ago
We can't say that it's impossible. If a soul is in the state of grace and all temporal punishment has been remitted than they can go straight to heaven just like any other.
Just how often this happens without any kind of contact with the Church, the Sacraments, etc. is another question.
franciscanfriars 2 years ago

"PIUS XII
