I know Harlan, he has never pretended to be a Marine. As a Marine myself I know he has a great deal of respect for the Corps. He wears the uniforms (of past conflicts) and writes books about the Corps in order to preserve its legacy and increase awareness about the Corps' role in WWII.

FYI - The host Harlan Glenn is notorious for pretending to be a Marine, but was never in the military. He wears USMC uniforms and has fooled a lot of people. Sad, that he's been doing this for years. I saw the show and it's just silly.
