For all you bashers, this pageant system is not glitz. And its not as racy as all the other pageants out there. Theres no swimsuit competition and a no makeup rule. None of its fake and none of its a scam. The only thing fake are some of the girls backstage who are only in it for money (avoid them) As a four year NAMiss contestant, i know what i'm talking about.
No one is criticizing you! It's a competition, so obviously they JUDGE you. There's a difference between juding and criticizing. 'Criticize' implies the expression of disapproval. Did you ever enter, for example, an art competition or something? Yeah, they judge you then also. It's not like people sit there going "she's prettier then her, she wins!" This pageant judges you on grace, personality, etc. ON THE NAMISS WEBSITE it says they don't care about glasses, braces, zits, or anything else.
Do your research. First of all, no one critisizes you. The word critisize implies disapproval. It's like entering an art contest or something; people judge them, but they don't critisize your work. Secondly, it's not like people sit there and go "She's ugly, so the loses" or anything. ON THE NAMISS WEBSITE it says that they judge on grace and personality, and UNDERSTAND that teens have braces, glasses, zits, etc. Third, she is MODELING! Why would anyone be critisizing her?

I did a namiss pageant and won miss louisiana then went to the national competition and got 3rd runner up to the queen!!!!! i was in 10-12 devision (i was 10 when i did it now im 11)
I can model pro-am and I do not even do pageants. Is this a glitz pageant? Makeup for 12 year olds and false teeth for 12 year olds. Will you win if you have braces on? Does your dress need to have gems?
@JoBroLuver89Forevs no there is a no makeup rule for girls 12 and under. it is not a glitz pageant it is about leadership and having fun and no your dress does not need gems.
@JoBroLuver89Forevs I competed in this pageant and it is way to glitzy, and it depends if your confidences shines through your braces you might win. I gave up the crown for a modeling agency!
National American Miss is not a Glitz pageant, Actually it is about Inner beauty and about being yourself! Yes you will win with braces, and if you are under the age of 12 or 12 years old, you are NOT allowed to wear make up! Your dress does not have to have gems, but it will make the dress stand out, so have some gems, But dont go over board! And make sure the dress doesnt over power you! The judges want to see you for you! Not some fake doll! And no Flippers! :D
i might do it on july for 2009 i have always wanted to be in a pageat and it is expensive but i gains confidence and i will be competing in the pre teen divsion for 10-12 years old thnks and reply
i don't remeber but it can cost $1000 plus, which includes a hotel room, dress, clothes, makeup (teens), and for those who have unstraight teeth may want one of those falsies used in pageants on teeth (i forget what they're called but they are called essential by contestants)
iluvjackwhitemost must not have a clue what namiss is about. You do not need veneers to cover unstraight teeth. namiss chooses their winners by their NATURAL beauty. Makeup should be what you would wear to school (very natural). they do not want a made up barbie doll as their queen. it costs 440 dollars, but After you have competed once, you get special pageant discounts in the next years. it was a great experience for me and it gives you the opportunity to learn a lot about yourself :).
