@boy45022 you lift the butt of the cue stick a bit and put a lot of reverse on the cue. When the cue hits the black, it will spin like mad in a 'stun' perpendicular to the tangent plane of the hit until the spin of cue starts to grab the mat and then inertia will start making the cue grab the mat and roll in the reverse direction. In other words, after the cue hits the black, it has more spin than it can handle to roll back right away, it takes time, it goes to its natural stun line

If you saw Alex play when he was young he used that stance and cue action to compete as a professional which is mind boggling.Watch Ronnie on the other hand. He has the perfect Steve Davis Stance and identical cue action with the pause at front and back. Ronnie is my fav. but he wasn't born with that.

@smtoke ..yes I heard Higgy could often be ignorant to people as I know people thats met him.. to an extent I can understand it as I'm sure many famous people feel like doing the same when people ask for autographs etc.. Higgy was just himself with no back doors and didn't fear the bad press as other famous people would have.... I'm not saying I agree with his attitude though and don't think I would be the same in his situation either......
No player will quite match the magic of watching Alex Higgins play a game of snooker. It was such a shame that he turned himself from the hurricane into the emphysemic wheeze.
Alex was a great player but I think that Ronnie O'Sulllivan at his best and Alex at his best (if it could be done) Ronnie would have annihilated Alex.
if cue ball would pocket at his last shot he could lost the frame right ? sick !
