  • LOL my band director told me took look this up...

  • i love this song .... she is also is very funny

  • I LOVE Streisand...always have always will, but age and research unveil to me she didn't really play Fanny Brice at all. She played HERSELF. And this version is fixed in the audience AS Fanny Brice!!! Which is why it's so hard to recast the role! Modern audiences would HATE a real attemopt to sound like Brice. Streisand's Fanny was as phoney as Diana Ross' Billie Holliday!

  • haha!!! this just 'popped' into my head there whilst making a cuppa...

so glad it did!!! BS sings this 'poifectly'!!; D

    Great 'feel good' tune!!

  • This cool song reached #32 in 1966, and was Barbra's second Top 40 hit. (U.S., Billboard) -- But the original was by Fanny Brice, and reached #3 in the year 1922! ! She had earlier had a minor hit with another Fanny Brice song, "My Man."

  • Barbra's voice is perfect for this song, from the high notes to the New Yawk accent.

  • I'm 12, and I can never ever stop listening to her.

  • When you buy a movie soundtrack on CD, how do you know if you're actually getting the version you heard in the cinema? I maintain some of these recordings are NOT from the movie version. Can anyone help me there? Record companies have always ripped people off, especially with this form of FALSE ADVERTISING. Next time you buy Joe Bloggs' Greatest Hits, you probably get re-recordings. All I can say is: THANK HEAVENS FOR YOU TUBE FOR, WITHOUT HER, WHAT WOULD WE DO???!! July 3, 2011.

  • I may be the first person in the world to realize this, but ... second-hand toothpicks?

  • @7NTM61Ic WHO NEEDS THOSE, LOL

  • Oh my,hahahahaha, this song ALWAYS makes me smile! Well,in fact the whole film makes me roar out loud,& then shed a tear,& then laugh again! I vaguely recall, somewhere in the darkest recesses of my mind, that she did a duet of this with her mother! Maybe it wasn't released on any album, but I distinctly recall her singing this with her 'ma'! What a real delight to hear it on YouTube. Thanks so much for uploading it here!

  • This song is deffinatly off funny girl I have the DVD :-) she sings it after I'd rather be blue an before the bride number :-)

  • This version is the best :D

  • This song was from the Ziegfeld follies of 1921 and much like I'd Rather Be

Blue was a song of the times of Fannie Brice, not one written specifically for Streisand for one of those Funny Girl films.

  • Are you sure it's from "Funny Girl"? I've seen that movie 20 times, but I can't remember this number in there.

  • @m17jane she does it for Ziegfeld, I think it's the song before His Love Makes Me Beautiful

  • @m17jane Are you sure you mean " Funny Girl? Because Barbra also made "Funny Lady". This song is non sung completely in Funny girl. It's when she sings for Ziegfield for the first time. It's her audition. She's wearing a yellow dress.

  • Haven't heard this on probably 20 years. Thanks for posting it!

  • Hi...thank you for commenting...glad you enjoyed this one! :)

  • @55trombone FIRST time i heard this ! i love it very nice... Thanks MrKingsRow for posting...

  • This has always been my favorite Streisand song - It's a great, fun song, and showcases her singing and comedic talents perfectly! Excellent video! Thanks for posting!

  • Thanks Loretta, I knew you'd love it! :)

  • @justmusicandme, This is not a Barbara Streisand song. There is a write up in today's Akron Beacon Journal and it was written and sung by Grant Clarke (1891-1931), Akron Ohio native. Read it at Ohio.com. He also wrote, Am I Blue, Ragtime Cowboy Joe and much more. He cranked out hits for Tin Pan Alley music publishers in New York. His mother was a stage actress. Again todays AKRON Beacon Journal, 05/16/11 @ Ohio.com.

  • @MyBlackbart...I think what Loretta meant was that...it's considered one of Barbra Streisands standards...one that she recorded...and also made famous...thanks for commenting and the info...I didn't know that either...so it's great to know that!! :))

  • I loved Funny Girl. The pictures you selected bring back memories. Thank you for posting.
