@nekiwa07 I like going to the local black beauty supply store, there's one here in tucson called lee's and you can get headbands with flowers, earrings and a lot more all for $2 or less per item. Sometimes 99c stores have some cute little things, but they may need to be adjusted to not look so cheap I'll, message you with more information and some links because it won't let me post urls in the response
@nekiwa07 Yes it should work just fine, there are a lot of ladies that use blenders, small food processors, and magic bullet type blenders to make their whip :) It will also probably be a lot faster than using a hand mixer
Just found your channel. Gona try the recipe tomorrow as I'll be 24weeks (6months) pregnant and haven't gotten any stretch marks yet. I do have on my bum, breast and thigh area pre-pregnancy so I don't wana 'wing it' anymore, praying I don't get. I had to go in the bathroom to hear (not sure why) but I gathered you used 1lb and a bit of 100% raw shea butter, coconut oil, honey (I think), extra virgin olive oil and rose absolute in jojoba oil. Please leme know the measurements. Thanks:):):)

@yameezy lol, thank you! Chanting? Nam Yo Ho rang ge kyo? My grandmother does that :) and lol no I won't cut myself, it does look weird though watching my fingers, they're so bendy no wonder some people are grossed out, hahaa!
i love black ppl..we are natural healers! and we are natural science ppl..we make our own stuff..and thats how it should be becuz the stuff they make now..is kinda for white ppl..jus my opininon
@tgriffplayer I think some of it is, but not all of it since our hair is almost the same unless it's the extreme opposite, natural blondes vs coily hair.
@Nkemburk If you pull down the pull down menu (where whoever makes the video puts their comments) I put a link to the place where I get my shea butter. Thanks for watching!
@Ch0xie mine stayed like that, but I had in it little airtight containers and didn't expose them to heat. If they melt they lose the whippyness and if they're in a really dry place and open they'll dry out.
Great video. My sister and I will be trying out this mixture this month. I hope it comes out just as good as yours. I have faith and thanks for sharing. I'll be subscribing as well.
@raphsgurl How did it turn out? I love mine!! I actually found a jar that I had left at work and it was still good!! Can you believe it! I think it will stay indefinitely as long as it doesn't get hot and melt.
Great video. My sister and I will be trying out this mixture this month. I hope it comes out just as good as yours. I have faith and thanks for sharing. I'll be subscribing as well.
@ddwarff I found some from this batch that was still good. I think it will last indefinitely as long as it's in an airtight container and kept in a cool place so it doesn't melt. In my next video I'll show it to you
@dreabatyah It kind of firms up, but stays whippy? It doesn't get hard, but it's not like cool whip soft. It's hard to explain, it will move when you stick your finger in it, but you won't have to dig your finger in hard, but your finger won't go to the bottom of the container fast.
hi,i find ur video is very helping as im learning to make my own creams coz im afraid of the effects of toxin and poison on skin.ur tutorial is very clear and easy to understand.i wanna know what is the shelf life of these cream...how many months before it should be discard?thanks and greetings from malaysia
@kumster2007 If you keep it from melting and in an airtight container, I think it will last forever, but after it's been opened and people been sticking their fingers and things in it I think that after 18 months you should discard it just to be safe, but usually it's been used up by then.
@information213 I use a regular 3 speed mixer. It has low medium and high, I think it was like 10 bucks at walmart, and I start off on low and pulse it until it breaks up enough to start whipping, then move it up to medium when it has less chunks then move it up to high for the majority of the whipping.
Hi there. Love your video ayamejoy, but if you don't mind me making a suggestion, next time, instead of using the Aura Cacia Rose Absolute in Jojoba, try the Aura Cacia Rose Otto in Jojoba. The difference between the two is that with Rose Absolute, chemical solvents are used to extract the rose oil from the rose petals. With Rose Otto, the rose oil is extracted by steam distillation. If you're heavily into natural living, I figured that might matter to you. hope you don't mind me sharing.
@BajanCutiee I don't mind you sharing at all, I didn't know that. Thank you for that info BajanCutiee {:o) I have it jotted down for my next batch. Thank you again and I'm glad you enjoyed the video :)
@resonance061 Hair body and if you wanted to you could add sugar and make frosting out of it. I haven't tried that yet, but frosting is just oil/fat and sugar (the old fashioned kind anyway). I mainly use it on my twists in my hair, and instead of lotion
Exactly, I remember when I didn't know I was supposed to try and melt it in my hands first, lol!!! I had little bits of shea butter in my fro, lol!! Whew, made myself laugh, Whipped shea butter is so much easier to use
Hello Oyin26 {:o) I put the name of the website that I order it from in the sidebar. It's not hard to find if you know what you're looking for. Raw or unrefined (or both for the companies that want to really interate that it's natural) is what you want if you want to find pure, and only Shea Butter in your shea butter. The rest of the ingredients you can get at the grocery store or a health food store for the essential oils and natural honey.
Sure can, I use it on my body also, I especially like it on my heels elbows and hands, though it works well everywhere else also. Thank you so much natrlchallenge {:o) I'm very happy you enjoy them {:o)
GIrl im glad i found this because i was at the beauty store and saw shea butter and i was like is it so hard, is it suppose to be hard but then i saw this vid and i was ohh got ya! loL! but yea ima try this with tea tree, grape seed, and olive oil.
I use it after any water I put on my hair (like in my 3 strand twist tutorial) that seems to work best for me latifatumi. Hope you have a good weekend!
Thank you {:o) You're welcome and I'm not sure MsLach3II3, I don't use tea tree oil myself (aside from the Dr Bronner's shampoo with tea tree oil). I hear it's really good though
Ok thank you so much for replying back to me...I have natural hair too and Im trying to find women on the web I can watch so I can learn new and interesting facts. So I will subscribe =)
2005Sherwin, The shelf life is at least 10 months because I still have a little left from that batch. I used to use it almost daily, then I switched to using it only when I twist my hair and it doesn't stink or smell bad, didn't change colors or anything on me and I didn't have it in the refridgerator or anything.
It "sets" into a thick creamy smooth whip, its not hard at all because there's so much air in it, so it sorta stays fluffy, but not liquidy fluffy (I hope I described that okay)
Oh wow PenguinAtlas, Special boilers and complicated stuff? Totally not neccessary. You're very welcome, there are lots of other easy videos here on youtube, just search Shea Whip or Shea butter whip that should get you some good videos {:o)
This can be used on your hair and skin (i use it on both) and no, it doesn't have to be melted all the way down like some people do in their videos. I think it's faster if it's not completely liquid, (I've tried it melted down all the way and it took a LOT longer to whip up) but I'm not sure how well it would work if it wasn't warmed up a little.
I just made a Shea Butter Mix to use on my skin and hair. I used a good amount of Shea butter, 2 tea spoons of EVOO, 2 teaspoons of Avocado oil, one scoop of coconut oil, and a couple drops of Tea tree oil(preservative). Can I use this for twists or as a leave in, or do you think this will need to be washed out?
lastevens, you sure can use it for twists and I use it as a leave in at times, though eventually (depending on how frequent your usage is, whether or not you cover your hair up etc) you should wash it out and restart, unless your hair and doesn't mind it. My head sweats so I can't put it on my scalp and things like other people do.
Hi Corion1027, I don't use it as a daily moisturizer, I mostly use it when I twist my hair wet or to generally seal water in (after washing etc). Coconut oil has more beneficial properties than plain olive oil does. I think that's why more people mix coconut over olive.
mzc1no, you can get it from places that make candles and soaps probably and maybe in Walmart (I'm not sure though). Worse come to worse you can order it online if you can't find it in your city. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful
You're so welcome {:o) that sounds like a good plan, the avocado oil. I keep forgetting to purchase something better than olive to mix with this, thank YOU for reminding me {:o)
I like that consistency...it looks good like cake frosting. I want to try that but I need more ingredients like jojoba oil and tea tree oil and essential oils. I have only bought shea butter once and its still full from my coconut oil/olive oil mix so I may get more and just use both but the one I made is kinda oily so I may just not use it for my hair...my daughter has eczema so I use it on her and her skin just sucks it up. Ill make the lighter one for my hair.
CaliBornbEauty, Thank you {:o) The key to getting it light and fluffy like that is whipping it for a very long time and making sure there's more shea butter than oil in it to keep it from being really oily. (about 3 parts shea, 1 part various oils). I can't wait until you try it, & hope you like it!
I made this over the weekend using your method, my ols were grapeseed, sweet almond and I used some Sweet orange for fragrance and Rosemary, I LOVED it, it was absolutely creamy, my mom and sis wanted so I whipped them up a batch, my mom is natural, but me and my sis are just transitioning. Thanks for the recipe!!
Wow. It looks amazing at the end.. my mixed shea never looks that good (even thogh I've only attempted to mix it like twice, lol). I hope to make a creamy mix like this someday!
Thank you TheSubversa, No it's not greasy. It starts off a little shiny looking but gets absorbed within 2 or 3 minutes. I'll do a video showing it on my skin and hair. Unless you layer it on/use too much it won't be greasy.
Okay!! It looks so thick and creamy, I've ALWAYS wanted mine to look just like that!! But It always looks weird and is so stiff kind of. Is it possible to add ingredients to it and make it like this, even though it's already whipped? Lol. Also, I added Vanilla extract to mine.. it had alcohol in it. I could practically smell it in the bottle. is that bad? Should I discard it? I didn't add too too much though.
And what if I don't have 16oz? How do I go about reducing the recip? Sry for the q's!
I'm not sure how you would whip up less (you can see in the video how much was in the bowl before it was whipped) but if you do I think it would be easier to divide everything by four.
I'm not sure how the vanilla extract would be. Honey is good for hair. I'm not sure about the alcohol thing. A lot of regular products have it in there so maybe it's not bad? I'm not sure. Also I put at the bottom of the sidebar the amounts for 1/4 of this recipe.
expertonmyself, It was rose essential oil in jojoba. It didn't end up smelling like roses, so i would try a straight essential oil so the frangrance actually smells like its supposed to.
You're welcome carguydee :) Before my BC I had no idea how to take care of natural hair. I hadn't been natural almost as long as I can remember, I did know how to braid before though. After going natural and trying other people's mixes (that didn't work for me) I made one that I like that works for me.
It looks great! did it get grainy at all later? My recipe was grainy after a week. I recently made a green tea whipped shea butter but I did it the long way which was melting, temperature control refridgerating, and contsant whipping at an exact time. It was hard. I did not grain up but I was hoping there was an easier way.
didn't get grainy at all. The parts from my other batch (about a month ago?) is still smooth. I didn't blend the other one as well so I had wild honey pockets which was kinda wierd.
I would love to make this, however I am unable to hear what you are saying(having audio trouble) Would you please tell me the ingedients PLEASE??

lastevens, you sure can use it for twists and I use it as a leave in at times, though eventually (depending on how frequent your usage is, whether or not you cover your hair up etc) you should wash it out and restart, unless your hair and doesn't mind it. My head sweats so I can't put it on my scalp and things like other people do.

how long did you whip it for to get it so fluffy?

20 minuteskimoni6, not a minute shorter {:o)

Nice. Do you use this as a daily mositurizer? I notice alot of women who whip their shea butter use coconut oil over olive. Can you tell me why?
Corion1027 2 years ago
Hi Corion1027, I don't use it as a daily moisturizer, I mostly use it when I twist my hair wet or to generally seal water in (after washing etc). Coconut oil has more beneficial properties than plain olive oil does. I think that's why more people mix coconut over olive.

where can i get the scented oil from? i live in a small town w/out much variety as far as organic and natural stores
mzc1no 2 years ago
mzc1no, you can get it from places that make candles and soaps probably and maybe in Walmart (I'm not sure though). Worse come to worse you can order it online if you can't find it in your city. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful
ayamejoy 2 years ago
Thats alot. how long does this mix last you? I have two little girls so that should do us well. thanks for the video.
diamondraindrops1 2 years ago
diamondraindrops1, it lasts me 3-5 months depending on how often I use it. You're welcome and hope you enjoy it as much as I do {:o)

I am so happy u put that measurements for 4.oz amounts because that's how much I want to make.

Cool, I hope you like it! it's one of my staples.

Thank you so much for making this video. I have locs and I've been looking for something to keep them moist and bouncy.
I'm going to replace the olive oil with avocado oil though. Avocado oil smells better and has a higher penetrating effect.
GreenleafGlenn 2 years ago

Ill make the lighter one for my hair.
caliBornbEauty 2 years ago
CaliBornbEauty, Thank you {:o) The key to getting it light and fluffy like that is whipping it for a very long time and making sure there's more shea butter than oil in it to keep it from being really oily. (about 3 parts shea, 1 part various oils). I can't wait until you try it, & hope you like it!
ayamejoy 2 years ago
Yeah...I know I put too much oil in it. Especially after watching all these videos on whipped shea butter lol
caliBornbEauty 2 years ago
{:o) there are a LOT of them

I made this over the weekend using your method, my ols were grapeseed, sweet almond and I used some Sweet orange for fragrance and Rosemary, I LOVED it, it was absolutely creamy, my mom and sis wanted so I whipped them up a batch, my mom is natural, but me and my sis are just transitioning. Thanks for the recipe!!
alilake1 2 years ago
I'm so glad you liked it! It's my favorite blend so far and I'm happy to share {:o)
ayamejoy 2 years ago
P.s. If you like that, you should try the spritz i make, it's awesome!
ayamejoy 2 years ago
Wow. It looks amazing at the end.. my mixed shea never looks that good (even thogh I've only attempted to mix it like twice, lol). I hope to make a creamy mix like this someday!
But one question: is your mixture greasy?
TheSubversa 2 years ago
Thank you TheSubversa, No it's not greasy. It starts off a little shiny looking but gets absorbed within 2 or 3 minutes. I'll do a video showing it on my skin and hair. Unless you layer it on/use too much it won't be greasy.
ayamejoy 2 years ago
TheSubversa 2 years ago
I'm not sure how you would whip up less (you can see in the video how much was in the bowl before it was whipped) but if you do I think it would be easier to divide everything by four.
ayamejoy 2 years ago
I'm not sure how the vanilla extract would be. Honey is good for hair. I'm not sure about the alcohol thing. A lot of regular products have it in there so maybe it's not bad? I'm not sure. Also I put at the bottom of the sidebar the amounts for 1/4 of this recipe.

i'm always looking for different wsb recipes. could you clarify the last ingredient item "3 tsp scented oil in carrier oil?"
thanks!
expertonmyself 2 years ago
expertonmyself, It was rose essential oil in jojoba. It didn't end up smelling like roses, so i would try a straight essential oil so the frangrance actually smells like its supposed to.

Thank you for sending me your recipe. Before your bc did you already now how to style and take care of natural hair?
carguydee79 2 years ago
You're welcome carguydee :) Before my BC I had no idea how to take care of natural hair. I hadn't been natural almost as long as I can remember, I did know how to braid before though. After going natural and trying other people's mixes (that didn't work for me) I made one that I like that works for me.

It looks great! did it get grainy at all later? My recipe was grainy after a week. I recently made a green tea whipped shea butter but I did it the long way which was melting, temperature control refridgerating, and contsant whipping at an exact time. It was hard. I did not grain up but I was hoping there was an easier way.
mixedwithcinnamon 2 years ago
didn't get grainy at all. The parts from my other batch (about a month ago?) is still smooth. I didn't blend the other one as well so I had wild honey pockets which was kinda wierd.

I love shea butter and this looks like something I really would like to have. Please post ingredients once again.
