I've lived out here for 14 months and can't stand it. I'm actually in Virginia Beach and I think Norfolk (Downtown anyways) is nicer than the beach area. I'm looking forward to moving up north. The problem in this entire area is gangs of course and the damn Navy! Every time we call the police it involves someone in the Navy beating up their wife or girlfriend, doing something crazy while drunk, animal neglect, fighting, and so on. It also hampers this area from ever becoming anything.,,

@austingagnard you got that right, I too go to Norfolk every summer it's not that dangerous, I also lived in New Orleans for a year......BIG DIFFERENCE New Orleans = Murder or two a night. Norfolk = murder or two a month.

The worst landings for me have been flying into Norfolk-the plane bangs into the tarmac-hard. T-storms or no t-storms. Very odd.

I visited Norfolk/VA Beach this past April. Flew there from CLT. It was raining when we got there. When we were going home our flight was late and we spent almost 5 hours there (US Airways CRJ) It wouldnt have been so bad but there is nothing in that airport.

If you're coming from Detroit you don't have anything to worry about. Crime's really really bad here but not as bad as in Detroit.

There's a lot to do in the Hampton Roads area too all within a 20 minute drive from Norfolk depending on traffic.

Not a bad area to live but always remember to bring protection everywhere you go and don't trust 80% of the people that live here, they'll rip you off in a heartbeat. Also don't walk through Park Place or South Norfolk. Be careful in Oceanview too.

Yeah Busch Gardens is still a good place for everybody. It's really the South of VA that you have to worry about, mainly Norfolk and the Beach. Chesapeake is getting really bad really fast too. All it is now is gangstas and white supremacists and prison fuckers.

Funny thing you've probably heard already, last week more than half of the clubs at the beach got shut down because they were involved in one of the biggest drug rings in VA history. Go figure.

norfolk is really garbage city. coming from Detroit tho you might not find it too bad. norfolk is just ugly and the people are for the most part sad and rude. i dont envy you.

i just got back from norfolk. the airport is pretty small, i was on a MD-88 Delta flight for Atlanta and it was the second largest plane there at the time. it seems to be stuggling, half the gates are stripped and empty. shame, nice airport

I used to go here often when my parent own a home at Virginia beach and we would go out to norfork to shop and hang out near that mall that was located right on the water. It was a nice place, then And i'm sure its nice now.... Is the scope still up downtown? the building that looked like a spider.
