Hotel Grand Chancellor is being demolished floor by floor at the moment will take about a year to do. It failed all its inspections obviously because it became the leaning tower of Christchurch.. Quite sad really to see an icon destroyed.
Hmm, have you submitted this video to the Royal Commission being done on these buildings? They may be interested to see evidence of visible damage to the building from the September quake that may have affected it during February.
I live down the street from this hotel, if you were to go into the centre of the street you can see the slumping side of it. It didn't come down today, with our quake swarm. Glad to see you weren't actually in there on the 22nd.
@SwattyFireyz its strange that the world trade center 7 building came perfectly down due to exterior damage and a few small fires. Yet the Grand Chancellor stands on a lean, it's foundation sinking to one side while enduring all the aftershocks and fires but it still stands. How odd...i guess damaged spontaneously falling buildings only occur in America. Bugga ae, would make things easier to bring the damaged building down lol

Christchurch is an awesome city. More so when the've spent $20,000,000,000 on it. It will be the newest old city in the world.

@ratcats I actually lived in Christchurch (just off Papanui Rd) in 2005-2006. As much as I loved it, I am very glad not to be there now. Take care.

I bet you felt all the aftershocks too.
Love the comment "If the building fell down, there is only one floor above me".
You cursed the hotel lol
