  • Great video Jay. Roman Polanski is a unrepentant piece of shit child rapist. Of course, celebrities can get away with anything it seems.

  • If we take a close look at American history with respect to "stars" we find a long list of creepy adult behavior towards children. What I find strange is how the media picks and chooses who is going to be called a pedophile. Lord knows many very ill people have been worshiped and continue to be worshiped. Justice has never been justice, and it is a mistake to think it ever was.

  • this has nothing to do with the video (even though i completely agree) but is it me or does he sound like a more eloquent version of bill cosby

  • Hear Roman's Revenge: Interview with a Pimp..by searching: "Pimp C & CedRock Starr" It's American :)

  • Also the "let of the hook" people: pressuring people to agree with you with "oh would you allow him to do that to your daughter" is low. I bet someone in another country think you should be castrated because you broke some religious law. You people just want to feel righteous and want to punish, hold the axe yourself - people are ugly - pointing fingers to some blown out of proportion, obscure case is just a sad way that we, as humanity use to hide our own ugliness. I don't dig this shit at all.

  • The same stuff has been going on in hollywood since it's inception and not many people scream about taking to prison those old people that did something decades ago. Nobody is spitting on Charlie Chaplins grave for instance.

Why should anybody trust US that they will be treated as promised? You think if Julian Assange came to the US he would see anything outside guantanamo bay?

Where does the US citizens moral right come from to judge anybody in the world on the principles of USA law?

  • Well said. I don't care how great movies you've made. You are not above the law. You don't get to rape little girls and get away with it scot free just because you used to be a great director and you survived the WWII.

It makes me sick to see how many celebrities, some of them even intelligent and usually reasonable people that I admire side with him.

This is another case of people seeing things in black and white: 'But HE'S such a great film maker, he just CAN'T be sent to prison!'.

  • Does anyone know where I can find a list of people who signed the pro-Polanski petition? I've looked for one but haven't found it.

  • You see the same thing in the sports world and the business world all the time. This isn't about Polanski being a "survivor" or a "victim." He entertains us. That's all there is to it. We - by which I mean our society - don't want him to go away because we get something positive from him. Once that's established, the rest is just neutralization.

  • this is all true, but you are forgetting the fact that ... he is such a great movie maker, and he survive the varsow ghetto and shoa... he has a free pass...

it makes me sick to hear arguments such as that one especially in france where everybody on tv is defending him... it's kind of like a terrorist or a martyr getting free virgins in the after life... well he is a martyr he gets his now!!! I sruvived the war in bosnia do you think I could get me a 13 year old?

  • This case is really quite simple.

A guy raped an underage girl in a pretty fucked up way (and that's saying something concidering that raping an underage girl is already HELLA fucked up).

Then this guy realized that he might be sent to jail where he feared (rightfully so) that he would be subjected to.....well, basically what he subjected her too.

And THEN when this cheeky fuck finally was caught, a bunch of people thought he should totally get a free pass on this because he made some movies.

  • What offends me the most is the idea that someone who is rich and famous can simply leave the country and escape justice. That is a joke. He violated the law and fled. I loved the pianist too but if we are a nation of laws, then he needs to be sought after by US authorities.

  • I don't say this about many people, but Roman Polanski truly is a piece of shit.

Illdoc, thanks for another brilliant video :).

  • And further, you keep mentioning her 'consistent' statements about what he 'did' to her. What exactly did he do to her? If the lack of evidence of all she stated happened that afternoon is of any indication, then nothing happened. You cannot have a rape without evidence, and there was none in this case. There was sperm found in her panties, but those panties have a chain-of-custody issue. Phillip Vannatter collected them 2 days after the event. There has been no test done on them with ....

  • Hey, illdoc, if you truly know the 'facts' of this case, what Polanski pled to was tantamount to consensual sex. And I'll ask you, what does it count as when Samantha's 18 year-old boyfriend was not charged with haivng had sex with a minor? And according to the Grand Jury testimony by the doctor who examined her that night, he found nothing denoting rape, ergo, the charges reduced to unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor. Who do you believe?

  • ..DUDE is GREAT!!!!! truth be spoken

  • Fuck polanski

  • I love plenty of your other videos, but this one stands out as especially good.

  • oh god, THANK YOU

  • I absolutely love you. Great video!

  • good job, love the video!

  • thank you for this! i wish i could speak like you.

  • Oh, you are just my favorite kind of person. Thanks for saying all this, dude.

  • How can one man be so smart and so handsome at the same time?

  • This dude is hot.

  • fiyah. every time.

  • So wtf? If I am a "great" artist I can go out and rape a minor and my talent excuses me from justice? That's ILL. I agree with you 100%.

  • I'll take the bait, let's say they WERE hookers, does that give then a free pass to Roman Polanski to give drugs and rape a 13 year old. So if the mom wanted money it was still okay that he clearly raped a 13 year old. So you're saying let Roman off the hook for raping a 13 year old girl. That's what you're saying. Right?

  • Well said. Im sick and tired of this nonsense, all these Hollywood ppl defending him. What if it was their own daughter that was raped? Fucking hypocrites!

  • Thanks so much for posting this, Jay. I didn't know the details of the case, but the facts you present (she was saying no and asking him to stop, he had 30 years of opportunity to clear up the matter without jail time, she won a civil suit and he still hasn't paid her the damages) makes it clear to me that he is a FUCKING RAPIST.

I can even begin to tell you how refreshing and rare it is to find a man who likes hip-hop who still respects women and gays.

  • You need to make videos this long more often.

  • I do believe that he might have changed, but I still agree with you totally.

P.S. You are a great vlogger

  • I'm with u when u are right dude, I'm with u when u are RIGHT!!!

  • Disclaimer: I apologize for the following rant....

Roman Polanski is an absolutely disgusting, vile, unrepentant PEDOPHILE and the fact that famous people like Whoopi Goldberg who say that it wasn't "rape-rape" proves celebrities need to be seen and not heard. I CANNOT BELIEVE that he has gotten away with RAPING A CHILD. What else is there to say? He. Raped. A. Child. How can ANYONE defend him?!?!

Remember this Polanski: you can't run away from pits of Hell to Switzerland.

  • Well said brother...very sad morally where we are when just because someone entertains us they become above the law.

  • While we must always be concerned with the means by which justice is administered, I agree that Roman Polanski should have the book thrown at him for deciding that he was above the law.

  • I can't say 'thank you' enough. People have been saying it's wrong but haven't been exploring WHY. I am glad that someone in a public forum has said what I was thinking... or at least a step in the right direction.

  • Very well said !

  • The truth is told....

  • Karma will find a way in the end.

  • thank you, ill doctrine, for being out there and saying this.

  • agreed. however, since when was there absolute justice?

  • AHHH!! My man Jay was fired the fuck up!! Dude is my nigga. "still gonna go to Canal St. and buy em on bootleg, 5 for 20" LMFAO. SO real. This shit is that 1st cup of coffee, real essential. PLEASE keep doing the GD thing...I need dis shit often and all D time. Big shouts, Ill Doc is such a epic look.

  • FOR REAL.

  • what the fuck? there are "free polanski" petitions? fuck that shit. well, i guess i no longer feel guilty about ripping off hollywood.

  • I have studied this kind of stuff for years and the sad fact is that in our society, in our American patriarchal society, the media (and many others) tends to blame the victim and make up excuses for the perpetrator. What makes it even worse is this is one of the major reasons so many rape cases go unreported. 1 in every 3 women is sexually assaulted in their lifetime. Most of them go unreported and even fewer end in punishment for the criminal.

  • he's absolutely not saying that he believes this girl. He's saying that since Polanski acknowledged that "something" happened, and that he's not being a responsible adult by allowing this thing to drag on for 30+ years. At the very least he should pay her what he's already promised. Thats what the issue is, not the truth of her claim, but Polanski's continual attempts to weasel his way outta a pretty serious accusation. which should raise one BIG red flag...Nice try though.

  • At 1:30 he says "Which means that if you argue this was anything but straight up rape you either just don't know the facts or you're saying you believe the victim was lying. And if that's your position, uh, good luck with that, but you need to be real with yourself about what you're saying."

This is what I was specifically responding to, thank you.

  • You know who's supposed to decide if someone is telling the truth? The justice system. Is it flawed? Hell yeah, but imo it's better than the alternative of never convicting anyone because there's a chance they might be innocent (a chance that a jury or judge has decided is significantly smaller than the accused being guilty).

  • I should have been clearer- the jury/judge's decision is obviously supposed to be the most reasonable interpretation of the evidence presented. I find it off that you decry Jay for making assumptions about the real reasons the charges were amended (the charges, not the story) but you think you know it's because they had less of a chance of being proven?

  • As always, genius. You should be on tv.

  • I saw your vid by way of someone on IMDB posting this link. I am Extremely impressed by your commentary on this subject. They are discussing this heavily in the polanski forum. Which is what brought me here. I wish more people would understand. This is about a guy rapeing a 13 yr old. I'll be the guy behind you standing in the 5 fer 20 knockoff line with a big smirk on my face. Lets all watch as hollywood breaks both legs backpedling. Well..Just the polanski supporters. Well Done man. Well Done

  • This is the best commentary I've heard on the Polanski case. Why aren't you on the news instead of some of the idiots they've got right now??

  • Roman needs to get his nose cut and violated.

  • Nicely done, son.

  • I was a kid when the events took place, so maybe I'm forgetting some important developments. Was Polanski ever proved guilty? If not, then our system of justice wisely presumes he's innocent. The fair trial must happen before he can be found guilty and punished.

  • 5* Nuff said.

  • you hit the nail on the head. You spoke my thoughts!!

  • damn dawg. you're the SHIT!

i've said this before, but you've GOTTA make videos more often. your voice is SO needed!

    PLEASE MAKE MORE VIDEOS!

  • he got a job - that's why he makes fewer of 'em now

  • Man I love you

  • awesome vid... as usual

  • AS ALWAYS, I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS! THEY ARE DIRECT, CONCISE AND WELL ARTICULATED! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK! This video should be shown on CNN as it seems to speak for many JUSTICE MINDED people! And yes, we should personally boycott other directors/don't support their work, Hit them in the pocket, then they'll wake up to their nonsensical behavior - Reality -RAPE IS RAPE despite how much $ you have and whether you can flee the country (Coward). Ignorance is too damned contagious! God help us ALL!

  • Damn, he didn't pay her? FOUL.

  • Thank you! My thoughts exactly!

  • Amen, amen, amen.

  • as always: clear, rationale and on point. althougth it was evident you were perplexed/frustrated at the situation that did not overshadow how you communicated.

  • great great video so intelligent

  • Though I am a fan and huge supporter of the work and style of Roman Polanski, and try to sympathize with him because I am a director, I cannot agree that he should escape the atrocities of his past which include raping that young girl. He has been given ample opportunities to resolve the matter and he has not made any attempt to do so. Though his wife was killed by Charlie Manson's family, sympathy doesn't carry over into his own crimes. He deserves what he will receive as punishment.

  • Fuck Roman Polanski, if I could I would rape him, finger fuck him with a broom stick. That would be JUSTICE!

  • a)what are the hollywood people signing b)what happened c)is he free? d)is it pissible for him to get te death sentence? im sorry but i think rapists should get the death sentence or life in prison. if they do it once their's nothing to stop them from doing it again. who is Roman Polanski? thanks Jay smooth for making this video. i hadn't heard about this.

  • Great video. And elegant isn't a rant.

  • Agreed

  • Subscribed!! Thank you for saying what need to be said!!!

  • that old bastard needs to be killed

  • That was just a lovely breath of fresh air. The next time that I feel like pulling my hair out about these ridiculous Polanski apologists, I'll just watch this video again. I've favorited it. You've basically stated everything that I've been thinking and feeling. Yaay you! Screw Hollywood. YouTube rocks.

  • I was just wondering if you'd make a video on this! I'm really glad you did.

  • And this is why I am forever linking people to your videos: because you bring the logic like few others can.

    Thank you, Jay Smooth.

  • Man... finally someone said! I love you for this video! Really...

I think that the worse is with all this people that are defending him...

    ---------------------------

Muy buen video! Creo que lo peor es toda la gente que lo defiente, estúpidos!

  • Polanski = Justice evaded

  • great video

  • I heart you so much and wish you would leave that cat of yours and come marry me already. Best op-ed piece yet on this issue. Make sure Whoopie gets a copy.

  • your one of the most bad ass guys out there! u should definatly have your own show or something!

  • the voice of reason and logic here. It's nice to hear you break down the case and demonstrate his guilt beyond a shadow of a doubt.

  • The most rational opinion piece on the Polanski case yet.

But why is there only 2304 views of this video? The whole world needs to see it!

  • i posted it first on my illdoc1more account, it got a lot more views there

  • Shit like this is why you're my YouTube Hero, Jay.

  • THANK YOU!!! man, i knew your comeback would be on a worthwhile subject, but you just stopped me from tearing my hair out like i have been for the last few days. again, thank you.

  • I'm a newcomer to the Polanski case (I only found out about it last night), but I admire the fact that the accuser is willing to move on. But at the same time, I'm disgusted that Polanski hasn't paid at all for his crime, and it makes me feel like the combination of our justice system and our government is willing to shrug and let this sort of thing drop.

And the fact that movie producers are supporting this scum of a human being...hell, ANYONE supporting him...Jesus.

  • Oh, thank you thank you thank you for putting words to what I've been incoherently screaming at people.

  • Thank you for putting it all out there in plain English. Someone should post a list of Polanski supporters so we can really boycott their movies. Just wishful thinking there.

  • excellently argued and very rational

I always love your videos keep up the good work!!

  • jsmooth you really should try and fix that green line on the right side of your videos...it's annoying :P

  • never heard your voice stressed so much... this case has you twisted. i agree with your arguments and have no sympathy for the rich and/or powerful dodging the justices that the rest of us face each day for our actions.

  • Nice summary. I've only really had a vague understanding of whats been going on and this really brought me up to speed.

  • you are awesome. thank you for posting this.

  • At the end of the day, no matter what happened (consensual or not), what he did was wrong

  • it's not that black and white. There are some thing that are generally accepted as "right" and "wrong". It's generally accepted that raping a teenage girl is wrong.

  • So Dannlynch, if you had a daughter and a man old enough to be her father gets her stoned drunk, then F's her in the arse all the while she's pleading him to stop (yes, it wasn't just rape), you would defend the right/wrong issue as it is a judgement? fer-reals?

  • again, I'm just saying those words don't actually mean anything. great, he's 'wrong' ...who gives a shit? I'm talking about a way bigger picture here.

there's reasons why he's that fucked up and as a society those are the things we need to be addressing, and then how it is we can help her as best as possible.

everything else is just pointing the finger so that you can feel better about yourself.

  • Five stars. Very articulate!

  • *5 stars*

  • Polanski needs to be locked up and all the people signing the petition need to step back and actually think about what Polanski did...sodomised a 13 year old girl after drugging her.

  • 100th! Jay, you started channeling Bill Cosby or something when you started talking about the civil suit. 5:45

  • yeah it's funny, that was not intentional but i do totally sound like him

  • POLANSKI needs to follow the law like every other civilian. He's a pedophile and he drugs his victims. If he wasn't a celebrated film director people would be acting mad different towards him...people would be like disgusted and oh what a criminal. Free Mumia bastards. lol now that's what I am talking about.

  • lol judging silently.

  • illdoc1...why aren't there more men like you?...more people in general I should say!

that was just so thought out and intelligent. thank you!

  • I don't usually comment on videos but this was completely right on. Very powerful and intelligent. Thank you for sharing.

  • Well... all I have to say in rebuttal (no sodomy pun intended) is that it wasn't "Rape-rape"... *cough*... ok... I'm joking... everyone who defends Polanski is a douche bag. If he was an taxi driver or a postman this discussion would be over. Whoopie... you're the biggest idiot on the planet.

  • You have managed to sum up my own feelings on the subject quite well.

  • You sir, are a genius sir.

I don't think I have heard the entire case summed up better by anyone. With all the lawyers and the media blowing so much smoke, no one could see the facts, you saw clearly to the heart of the issue.

    I'm a fan. 8)

  • and here i was thinking i was extreme to not wear diane von furstenburgs wraps anymore for these reasons. you validated everything i was feeling.

  • I agree completely. Goddammit, Martin Scorsese, David Lynch, Pedro Almodovar, Terry Gilliam, Wes Anderson. I'm subscribing.

  • a great one

  • Jay, good points I definitely agree with you, but can we talk about hip-hop again?

  • We live in the most forgiving society ever. It's awful that depending on who you are, you're free of all accountability for your crimes. It's bewildering how anyone could legitimately support dude

  • Love you! Welcome back, Jay!!!

  • lmao!!! 3:25

  • HOLLYWOOD = dirty sex, no Morals, drug use

  • It's just like Jackson. People don't want to admit that someone that they really, really admire abused a child.

Always want to listen to what you have to say, "entertainment value" or not.

  • PREACH. Thank you thank you thank you for saying this.

  • Fuck Polanski.

  • THANK. YOU. He drugged a thirteen year old and had sex with her without consent. That is rape. I don't care what contributions he may or may not have made to the world artistically. HE RAPED A CHILD. Then, ran off and lived in a nice house for years. Why are people bending over backwards to excuse a child rapist?!

  • damn straight

  • i don't know you, but i love you. thank you for this.

  • and yes, i love your cat friend. and your play on the annoying geiko ad.

  • Say word.

  • Thank you.

  • Well done, I think that they should bring him back and he needs to get some jail time. But in this reality he will get a lite sentence. Proving once again that if you are rich you can get treated better in the court system then the middle class and the poor.

  • The state is the problem. For one thing, it has no obligation to protect anybody in the first place. Oh yeah, you sound like Bill Cosby just before point number 5. The best ways this could have been solved would be ostracizing Polanski or restitution to the victim. Or a combination of the two because sitting in a cage with other criminals doesn't do a damn thing but make more dangerous criminals.

  • I totally agree with everything you said. Though I am one of the people who questioned the timing of the arrest (especially since it succeeded as a distraction), I do not think he's being victimized. Seriously???

I was not familiar with the details of the case until recently (I knew about the plea but not the charges). He needs to serve some more time in jail, I'm sorry.

  • HELL FUCKING YES.

You are a voice of reason in an insane fucked up world. Another one of your brilliant videos in my favorites and my heart.

  • I heart Jay

  • I would petition for Polanski, if he would petition for the Manson family that killed his wife.

  • Does Polanski have a daughter or grand-daughter?

Maybe we can get OJ, R.Kelly and Michael Jacksons zombie corpse to babysit her.

I wonder how he would feel if this happened to his daughter?

  • As a woman, aspiring filmmaker, film student, and fan of Roman Polanski's movies, thank you. Thank you so much. You are gold. This is not a question of his talent, it's a question of his actions. I am so glad you made this. You are so eloquent, and, well, awesome.

  • brilliantly expressed. i'm sending this to the 'oh, but he's such a good director' people babbling their out loud nonsense. brilliant.

  • well said, great argument.

  • WOW!!!

  • WELL done.

  • Good job, sir! 5*

  • illdoc, you one of the rawest public intellectuals..

  • Comment removed

  • First of Thank You x3. Every time I see your video It gives me just a glimmer of hope that there can be civil discussions even on extremely sensitive subjects like this one. Your work also inspires me to tone done my own cinisim in an attempt to make a point not start a fight.

  • you have nice lips

  • You know what man. I've seen a tonne of so called "Experts" become talking heads in this case for no other purpose than to further thier own careers. This case is complicated for a lot of reasons, and I don't think I have EVER seen anyway argue the points, and make a case as well as you did here. Great job man, and continued success to you.

  • Love it illdoc!! :) You spelt it out like it is man. "Whatever happens to Polanski will NOT be any worse than he deserves" Right on the money!

  • i would listen to you talk about cows farting, love the way you lay it down man...awesome rant

  • i'm glad this turned into more than a quickie video. your videos are always great! 5 stars

  • Polanski is a piece of trash. I agree, I saw that documentary and it was completely one-sided. He deserves to be in prison until his death, and people who are on his side (Hollywood) deserve to be castrated. Woody Allen is on his side? Wow, a child molester taking a child molesters side? I would have never guessed! POS

  • Polansky...R. Kelly...tired of these folks "art" getting them off > pardon the pun

  • What kind of horrible life did Roman Polanski have?

  • He and his familly had to live in the krakow Ghetto, his Mother got killed in Auschwitz , she was pregnant with Polanskis future Sister. His Wife got killed by the Charles Manson Clan, pregnant with his future Child. So yeah.....i would have killed myself a long time ago

  • Please, tell that to the (then) 13-year old girl.

"Well yeah, this would usually be horrible, but this man had a very tough life, indeed, so you're just going to shut up and let him rape you."

Why is it that she's to blame for what people did to him?

  • OK, second question: What does that have to do with him raping a 13 year old? I've had so pretty fucked up things happen to me but I don't use that as an excuse to go around fucking up other peoples lives. That's just not the way life works.

  • Simple, its understandble that his mind was fucked up and he couldnt make a difference between wrong and right. How can he make a difference between this, if everything that happend to him was bad? It just shows that he is not only the offender he is also a victim. As i said i dont judge him, why should i? I dont know him or the victim and i wasnt there that night. Its just disgusting how now everyboy points the finger at someone just to feel better. As i said, this isnt about justice

  • Sociopaths don't know the difference between right and wrong and he is not a sociopath. Roman Polanski was aware then, as he is aware now, that what he did was wrong. What's the problem with him serving the time for the crime he plead guilty to?

  • he didnt plead guilty to rape

  • He plead guilty to unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor which is (surprise!) illegal and carries a penalty of incarceration.

  • @ corpucle

bad things happen to people everyday

it does not excuse them to go and commit other crimes and is no way a defence in a court of law alot of peadophiles were abused as kids.(Im not saying everyone abused will become a peadophile). does it mean we shoul excuse their actions because it happened to them

now imagine of this man was an average joe or a catholic priest and tell me what you opinion would be
