  • Tori,(as much as a bitch as she is) Kills it and I love the dark angst she spews. God bless her for feeding the darkness in all of us.

  • I'm a metalhead and I didn't expect the cover to be so hauntingly beautiful.

  • My brain is full of fuck. I'm a metalhead, I like Slayer, I like Tori Amos, and I actually like this cover. None of this stops the fuck overflowing from my brain.

  • I have to say, after reading the comments, some Slayer fans are just plain retarded. This song is not so much a cover than a re-interpretation of the song from a female perspective, that is what it is - period. I like metal music (older In Flames, Dimmu Borgir, Tool, etc), but I also value other music as well, like Tori Amos, Depeche Mode, etc. I like music, not one type of music. Slayer, in my experience are for pretentious twerps who worship satan cause daddy didn't love them enough.

  • @therealpapervandal

i don´t think they really worship satan you ignorant asshole

  • @therealpapervandal First, you did not name a single thrash metal band in your short three band list, that kind of makes me raise an eyebrow. And second, I find it funny that you mention satan worship as a derogatory statement while being a fan of Dimmu Borgir, a band influenced heavily by satanic black metal if not satanic themselves. My final statement will be that I do not like most of Slayer's music, but I am capable of voicing my opinions in a way that's less demeaning.

  • Amazing. Those Slayer guys don't do a bad job covering this either

  • this is so fuckin evil, more evil then the original. try to put this into a horror movie. it will then be the best horror movie ever.

  • @slipiknot3000 Slayer is pretty pathetic compared to many bands.

  • slipknot is pathetic compared to real bands who formed a generation for bands like them to succeed, the only good album they put out is their first one the rest is commercial BS

  • Now I'll be sad and creeped out all day.

  • I loved it the first time I heard it on SiriusXM, great performance !

  • As a fan of both Slayer and Tori, I have to say this was a pleasant surprise. Probably the darkest music i've ever heard from her.

  • Outstanding, haunting and well arranged.

  • @inthefiveonenine But I think this might turn off Tori Amos fans as much as the original...

  • This version would fit in a Silent Hill soundtrack.

  • I can't understand the words... she sings this WWWWWAAAAAYYYY TOOOOO SSSSSSLLLLLOOOOOWWWWWWW.

  • I am a huge Slayer fan......and this cover fuckin dominates!!!!!! It's evil and arranged perfectly. 10 out of 10. Thank you Tori.

  • heard this on the radio. didn't even know what it was until i read read it. I think my exact words were "wait, what the fuck?". Nowhere near the same as the original, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. This cover is pretty unique in its interpretation and has a very haunting and hopeless feel (not as aggressive as original, but definitely more depressing)

  • This is one of the few on her cover album that I like. It's not overly pretentious (like 97 Bonnie and Clyde) or crappy.

  • She looked so silly with that perm

  • wow.... madonna made a cover of a pantera song... so what's next??? lady gaga performs a Metallica song?? Celin Dion performs Anthrax song?? xD

  • @oldinfant23 miley cyrus doing behemoth dude ;)

  • this is horrible

  • wat

  • Definitely different. I didn't even know this existed until I was reading an old interview with Hanneman and the subject of this song came up. Of course, no where near as great, powerful, and evil as the original, but very haunting and thought provoking as to what someone else can do with a Slayer song.

  • wow, sacrée reprise

  • Really great cover. Completely reimagined. Shame she didnt incorperate the immortal riff into it though, it would of worked nicely played acoustic or on piano in the back ground or as an outro... I dont know, but I think the only possible improvement would be to fit it in somehow

  • boring boring boring...

  • MOSH

  • i like the original song and i like this version as well, so haunting and bleak

  • This is fucking haunting and bleak. Love it.

  • it's not that I don't like it, it's just soooo boring...

  • I'm a Slayer fan from '84...this is a great version of the song. Bleak and full of despair, it captures the spirit of the song wonderfully

  • This is just painful to get through. SLAYER!! \m/

  • Absolutely amazing... So disturbing and atmospheric. What an artist... Dare I say Tori doesn't cover a song, she makes a second original.

  • 3 words: ΓΙΑ ΤΟΝ ΠΟΥΤΣΟ

  • I... Really like this o_O

  • Good song though..

  • Tried to like it.. i really did..

but raining blood, for me, stands for chaos and screaming... not some feely feely song and piano

  • I'm a metalhead and i have just two words...fucking phenomenal! Nice on you Tori, great remake. (Did anyone bother to read the story? Worth the time)

  • Τι μαλακία ειναι αυτή ρε παιδιά!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!ΟΥΣΤ ΚΑΡΙΟΛΑ!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @gend2121 to raining blood pou akrivos kollaei re file katalaves??

  • huge fail

  • She just murdered this song for me. :(

  • at least she made it sound creepy instead of some poppy crap. and its WAY better than that stop fuckin wit' me shit that lil jon made. THAT WILL RUIN RAINING BLOOD FOR YOU.

  • this is good, but not better then ALL fucking metal in the whole world ever to exists, and honestly, the way she so openly attacks other genres and artists, it seems to me that she has alot of person problems, and probably pretty low self-esteem...

  • GAY,GAY,GAY AS HELL. 14 years old-ish,i know, but after what she said about metal bands...

  • Amos must have a very limited idea of Metal 'No Emotion!!!'; hows about 'The Drapery Falls' by Opeth, or the vast number of highly emotive Opeth songs.

    Listen to Opeth.

  • Amos must have a very limited idea of Metal 'No Emotion!!!'; hows about 'The Drapery Falls' by Opeth, or the vast a vast number of very emotive Opeth songs.

    Listen to Opeth.

  • Personally I don't like her..however I respect her effort on this song..she said some offensive and rather arrogant things about metal bands, yet I don't say anything about her.

but to all of you saying crap about slayer just because some metalheads cannot accept anything different:FUCK YOU :D

    RESPECT MUSIC ITSELF

  • This is far closer to an original song than a cover. Seriously how do you get away with calling this a cover? After this and her most recent "emotion battle" comments I'm thinking this chick is a little light in the brain department.

  • @unoffended Your name is so ironic, since you seem really butthurt.

  • @sickofwaitingtables

Not really, he seems more sincere and genuine in his comment compared to others. I think it is you Ma'am that is butthurt. Tori Amos obviously has an ego problem regarding her attitude towards metal music. I really don't know how much exposure she has had in the metal world...comparatively..

This is coming from a dude who listen to Loreena Mckennitt, Kate Bush and Fiona Apple to name a few.

  • @lCHAOSREACTIONl I assume your defending my comment. So thanks.

  • @lCHAOSREACTIONl Right... Because saying someone is "a little light in the brain department" for stating their opinion isn't a butthurt comment at all. We all have an opinion. Maybe she shouldn't have phrased her opinion in that way, but nobody is stupid for not liking metal.

  • @sickofwaitingtables

Well with such a passive aggressive boast Tori Amos has made for the ENTIRE METAL GENRE then I would agree she is a little light in the brain department. Considering and comparing the other comments, what unoffended said was very restrained and instead of being productive and providing counter arguments to his points you just straight up insulted him Argumentum ad Hominem.

  • @lCHAOSREACTIONl And you, sir, are typecasting her for ONE comment she made. She's proven herself quite intelligent in other circumstances. What you and unoffended are saying about Tori is akin to what she said about metal - it's ignorant defamation. If you feel you are justified in calling her stupid without taking everything else she has said into consideration, she is more than justified in making a statement about metal based on her limited knowledge of it.

  • @sickofwaitingtables

It wasn't a comment it was a STATEMENT and a wholly ignorant and egotistical one at that.

She's calling out an ENTIRE genre based on exposure to maybe one or 2 metal bands. It doesn't matter if she's talented and good at what she does, her statement was not intelligent, totally ignorant and filled with much arrogance. You CANNOT justify your opinion on a subject based on little to no knowledge of said subject. That is just pure stupidity.

  • @lCHAOSREACTIONl It's true, that comment wasn't informed or tactful, but you are calling HER stupid, instead of simply saying it was a dumb thing to say. One statement about metal does not define her intelligence as a whole, which is why I explained to you in my previous comment that it is a fallacy to make such an assured, broad statement without adequate knowledge needed to come to that conclusion. You are guilty of exactly what you are decrying her for.

  • @lCHAOSREACTIONl I'm not going to repeat myself again, so I hope your reading comprehension has improved this time around.

  • @sickofwaitingtables

Your last comment is very insulting, as you are attacking my intelligence.

I have been very diplomatic in my approach to this argument. Yes, I may be attacking Tori amos's intelligence but my response is based on a very unintelligent/arrogant boast. A person with so much experience in music, you would not think after all these years that she would lack the ability to respect different styles of music.

  • @lCHAOSREACTIONl Wow. I definitely don't have the patience to argue with someone like that for as long as you have, so thanks for doing it for me. haha.

  • @unoffended

    honestly..pure trolling boredom..

  • @lCHAOSREACTIONl I was neutral to this whole tiff... but after reading comments on this video, out of boredom, I like you and unoffended.

  • continue to smoke your shit tori.soon or later you will lose your voice and we will be all glad of it.maybe a throat cancer.

  • @MrCatFetish She really does say some stupid shit sometimes. That statement was incredibly ignorant and she probably has little more than a basic understanding of metal. To be honest, I'm embarrassed that she said it and am upset that she chose to say something that reflects so poorly on herself as an artist.

  • @sickofwaitingtables Sums it up pretty well actually.

  • listen this song at midnight ...alone in home... and after that please watch "shutter" or "ju on"....

  • I am by no means a Slayer fan boy but I have to say this is shit, but not because the song is bad--just because it's not Raining Blood at all. Taking the lyrics to a song and changing the music and the way the lyrics are vocalized to the point where it no longer resembles the original song does not make it a cover. The fact that she called this song Raining Blood and put Slayer's name on it is an embarrassment not only to Slayer but to herself as an individual artist. The song is boring and dry.

  • I'm still laughing at all the Slayer Fan boys. The songs good, the original is the original, don't get me wrong...but for fuck sakes people open your bloody minds! Tori is great, and she put her twist on the song, if you don't like it get over it and move on.

  • @holyswordsmanoffaith oh my, you like people who lie arent you? This bitch made these songs cause she jokes about it -.- i read a interview of her with Metal Hammer who she said: Metal sucks, metal have no feelings and the only reason to listen it is to bang your filthy dump head only cause we're not able to dance or something. Shit bitch, fuck you!

  • @HeavyCrusade Um, that is not what she said, she wasn't interviewed by Metal Hammer, and I'm sure she didn't really mean anything by it. Yes, it was a stupid thing to say, but don't take it so personally. Oh, and why not call her "bitch" one more time? It makes you sound SO intelligent.

  • @sickofwaitingtables she was interviewed by metal hammer, look by your self, but its in german, if you can.

And i know it because i had the magazine at home!

it doesnt matter if im intelligent or not, she deserve it for her brainless sentences.

  • @HeavyCrusade Nope, she was interviewed by Spinner. Why the fuck would a metal magazine interview Tori Amos about her new classical album? Dumbass.

  • @sickofwaitingtables girls... metal-hammer.de/news/meldungen/article117385/Tori-Amos-vs-Slayer-haerter-als-jede-Metal-Band-der-Welt.html

    There!

  • @HeavyCrusade Nice link you got thar. Doesn't work. And yes, she was interviewed by Spinner. Metal sites have picked up on it and have quoted her, but they haven't interviewed her themselves. Reading comprehension, dude: get some.

  • @HeavyCrusade Dude, artistic integrity. Let her do what she wants, the music speaks for itself. I'm a rock and roll fan, I listen to blues, metal, jazz, folk, soul, funk, and just about anything with soul. ( YES METAL HAS SOUL) I didn't say I agree with her opinion at all. She changed the song, in many, many, MANY ways made it worse. The only kind of good thing, is the piano, and the fact that if some people like this, they might become fans of the original song.

  • @HeavyCrusade P.S. I don't think she believes all metal sucks. Maybe shes just offended with the bands that are really "over the top" for her taste.

  • Somebody got dumped by a metal fan.

  • This is rather boring.

I really wanna see her competing against someone like Lemmy God Kilmister... biting the dust, eh Tori?

Someone who says those kind of things clearly has never listened to Metal properly.

  • sry, but nobody can beat SLAYER.

SLAYER is not a Band, its a religion.

SLAYER is the Chuck Norris of music !!!

    Nothing more to say

  • This is not a cover, It's a recreation of the song and it looses all that was in the original. Sure she has talent, she can play piano, she can sing, but the only thing she keeps the same is the lyrics. I'm very open to other types of music but don't say you're going to cover a song and then totally re-imagine a completely different thing. For the record the song is rather boring. The fact that she is challenging the entire metal genre is just pure EGO and ignorance. Lost Respect because of that

  • Comment removed

  • bad ass cover.... in her own right.

  • i prefer the original version, i don't like this one.

  • I can't headbang to this!

  • Speaking as a die-hard metal fan, this was kind of a pretty nice song.

  • Great cover. She managed to make the song her own while perfectly retaining the ominous spirit of the original.

  • Wow... This is really boring...

  • It has no melody. It sounds like an amateur high school girl trying to be dark and brooding. It is laughably melodramatic.

  • Why is it even called Raining Blood?? Should have named it something else since its sounds nothing close to the original. Good song, bt IMO she should have just named it something else. There is hardly any original feel in the song.

  • Of course the purist metal fans don't like it, but it's actually awesome if you have an open mind. If you don't like piano, don't listen to it, but it kinda reminds me of what Bathory did with Ace of Spades with it being all slowed down and dark.

  • I love Slayer. Reign in Blood is one of the best albums in my opinion. This is a great cover version. obviously different, but it still really really cool.

  • Dear god this is horrible in so many ways! It loses all of the sheer rawness of the original!

  • very interesting. very different!

  • Brilliant, again the way of a genius> creating tention without necessarily being obviously LOUD;) Not that there is something wrong with loud, she's good at that too hehe. Slayer should be honoured;)

  • what a sorry excuse for shit this is, As objective as I can be its shit

  • Love for the Darcbrotherhood!

  • I saw in a article with jeff and kerry from slayer, and apperently they really liked this version of their song.

  • I'm no Slay fanboy or anything like that, but to me this just simply isn't a cover. The ONLY similarity is the lyrics. Mainstream musicians should stick to their own style, and try not to degrade metal. I'll give her credit for getting the approval of Slayer, and making something completely unique here, but to me this would be like Garth Brooks or Beiber doing a cover of something by Fleshgod Apocalypse or Opeth or something similar. Just not my thing I guess.

  • I've been listening to Slayer ever since I was 13. It all started with this song and "Angel of Death", so to me, "covering" one of their songs is completely sacrilegious. And that's coming from a 14 year old girl who normally doesn't give a shit about musicians covering other musicians songs.

  • This just doesn't do anything for me i'm afraid.

  • I have been listening to Slayer since Reign In Blood was their new album. I am also quite enamored with Tori Amos. I can say that Tori is doing things with this song that Slayer could never do; and, likewise, Slayer does things with it that Tori couldn't do. Both are amazing versions.

  • odd rendition, but now i just wanna listen to the real thing which i'm just about to do!!!

  • I really want her to do a version of Lamb Of God's 11th Hour, and I want it baaaaaaaaaad !

  • Gosh, this is creepy.

  • Amazing cover.

  • uh...And I thought the Hellsongs cover of Seasons in the Abyss was messed up....

  • Uh, hate to tell all ya haters, but the guys LIKED this version...just took 'em a while to recognize it. :P

  • If you like unconventional cover songs check out some of The Cardigans's Ozzy/Sabbath covers. The a capella version of Mr. Crowley is better than the original.

  • This is awesome!

  • you bitches are stupid, eveyone in the industry has heard raining blood, this cover is great.

  • Total shit cover

  • horrible cover

  • This is one of the coolest covers I've ever heard of any song, ever.

  • Slayer's version is better of course (metal is more my choice of music), but her version of raining blood sounds soooooooo haunting and ominus. It's so creepy!!

  • i love tori's covers.

  • The problem Slayer fans have with this song is not that it's too weak or lame (though it is super lame)..it's that it's not even a cover. She took the lyrics to a song that she may or may not have ever even listened to and toyed around with a lame drone riff...then put that on an album that appears to have been more of a publicity stunt than anything else. It's not just a bad song, it's also a disappointment and a sellout. Take that back to your room and wank to it.

  • To the ones who don't like this cover... GROW UP! If you don't like it, pleas shut the fuck up and stop crying about it. Be mature people. I don't like this cover either but at least i'm not crying like a bitch

  • This is horrible!!!

  • Great interpretation. Apparently Slayer were impressed and sent her a T-shirt. Serious! :)

  • @BloodyChunX Maybe they should have sent a copy of the album instead, as she apparently hasn't heard it.

  • raining blood is not the same without the whaling guitar solos

  • @Goldenman397

guitarsolos can actually kill animals? wasn't aware of this

(sorry, couldn't let that one pass)

seriously - i used to like tori amos, but this one isn't that good

  • @DerEchteBold

oh shit didn't even realize i spelt it wrong

but again it just isn't the same without the solos to me, this song just lacks that kick in the face power

but i guess that is why i like metal

  • @Goldenman397

i'm not that into metal anymore yet this song is somewhat boring to me

but i always appreciate something special

(sorry for the joke again, shouldn't do that cause i'm very insecure about my english though at least i'm proud i did it without insulting you - unlike most of the utube users)

    wish you well

    hooroo

  • She did it in her own way without pretending she can do it just like the original, it takes a lot of talent to cover a song so different in your style and still retain the darkness of the original.

  • I heard Slayer sent her a T-shirt when they found out she covered the song.

  • this is the worst and most boring thing ever. Slayer should kill Tori Amos for this.

  • @smellymonkeybutt What an intelligent and well-spoken individual you are, and what a great solution! You know, I'd very much like to kill everyone responsible for creating things I don't like as well. It's just so civilized.

Why don't you just fuck off and go wank in your room to some overwrought Slayer guitar solos, mmkay?

  • @sickofwaitingtables Nice, I see you have the same respect for Slayer as Tori Amos...

  • @sickofwaitingtables Slayer has some pretty amazing solos, though.

  • @smellymonkeybutt well i guess no one gives a fuck what you think and if you dont like it then why did you listen to it?

  • @smellymonkeybutt Slayer had to authorize this for her to publish it...

  • Tori Amos is just amazing...

  • I hate Slayer, but I like the way she emphasizes the pure terror they attempted to make here.

  • Great cover, very scary.

  • is it true???

  • Where's the guitar solo?

  • un asco,la verdad me dan ganas de pegarme un tiro .UN ASCO

  • I just wanted to let you know that, with out a doubt, you have one of the best usernames I've ever seen

  • I dont give a shit I love this song no matter how many haters are out there!!!

  • It´s haunting. It feels to me like she had the yearn to express, what it means when the sky is falling down on you, and you can´t escape. Just my opinion. I love the Original of Slayer, I was in a Moshpit 1989, when they played live in Germany. Tempus fugit.

  • as if i needed another reason to love tori amos, she goes & covers slayer \m/

BTW if u are one of those people that are butt hurt that she made a cover that doesn't sound exactly like the original or says she ruined a classic, then u really should stop taking urself so serious.

  • @xlt390 I'm going to have to delete your comment. If you have something to say about the song, you can rephrase it in a way that doesn't make you sound like an unintelligent, sexist fuck.

  • Listen to the Orininal ! Fuck Tori Amos

  • Okay :S

  • Erm she covered a Slayer song...And in Tori fashion, she rocked it. She is a skilled musician. So are Slayer. As long as it's not Bieber, or Gag a dick, I figure they can do whatever they want. She made this cover completely unrecognizable...Which I prefer rather than straight covers. Like Therion covering Abba, remember? Again this is awesome. Great job Tori.

  • @silverbaal beiber coverd revolution is my name by pantera... this world is done...

  • @darkjoker123321 No, he didn't.

  • @UristMcgee search it...

  • @darkjoker123321 Do it yourself, theres a video right next explaining it ISN'T justin bieber.

  • @darkjoker123321 I have. It isn't Bieber and it's been proven not to be. Get your facts straight.

  • Take a lesson:This is how you do a cover. U make it unrecognizable. Brava, Tori! She breathes slow moving nightmarish apocalyptic clouds into this song. It was just noise before. Because of this album, I looked into the originals and I must say, she did all of them justice. Most fans didn't like this album. I thought it was brilliant. 'Now time slips away' wow. Haunting!

  • I bought this cd years ago. I listened to it twice and then kept it away. Then, one day, while browsing through my records, I saw this and I didn't believe it: SHE COVERED SLAYER!I couldn't recognize it on the first time I listened to it, but I admit I liked it

  • What has been heard...

    Cannot be unheard.

But at least now I know what the hell they were saying,

  • It's actually a lot like the original in terms of atmosphere. It's just that this song is like a psychological horror film while Slayer's is like a gory horror film.

  • As a metalhead I am unsure why did this but I found it very interesting I liked it a lot.

  • Very good version.....i´ve loved it !!!! If you don´t like it...ok....its you opinion, but don´t say anyshit about it, its totally different than an original version, and i´m glad for that....so sweet interpretation, full of heart and soul....Great !!!! Only Slayer plays like Slayer !!! Tori did a great job !!!!

  • ACTUALLY THE GESTAPO PICKED HER UP

  • free speech is for losers

  • @wheniod Hate speech is for losers.

  • @sickofwaitingtables hate speech on free speech is for losers!

  • @sickofwaitingtables free speech and democracy is for losers...

  • @MrLuciferion Oooh, so clever. Essentially repeating the original comment!

Let me reiterate - the reason why I have deleted certain comments is that they were extremely vitriolic and derogatory. They weren't negative comments about Tori Amos (I don't give a shit whether you like Tori Amos or not), but attacks on women in general. Listen, Slayer fanbois. The fact that Tori is a woman isn't the reason why you dislike her reinvention of this song. And quit being so butthurt. It's just a song.
