in my opinion this IS the best version of this movie both in its "No Hope" tone (being filmed in late 70's in SF REALLY helped set that tone) and its images/visuals of how the Pods did what they did

love this movie..best horror science fi,i saw back in the early80s. i want it on tape,or dvd. . really cool..its better then al those 2011 movies together ,no computer work al stage work art. those days they made it,,realy like a hitchcok movie ,you know'the birds,it taked him 10 years 2 finised it. i gues this movie 1and a half year. wow

This was a great film, and one of the very few Horror/Sci Fi movies that actually scared the crap out of me. Kaufman's direction made this film. If you're looking for non-stops special effects, this is not the movie for you, but if you're looking for a truly frightening film done through good story telling, acting and direction, this film will not disappoint.
