From what I understand no one in the Gardasil studies got cervical cancer during the study, but no one who hadn't been vaccinated had cervical cancer either. And you'd have to follow the women for the rest of their lives to know if they ended up with it. They don't even know if the women had been exposed to HPV. Oh yeah, it HPV's never been conclusively proven to cause cervical cancer. And guess what else? The vaccine was never tested on girls only older women. Given all that, why take it?

I don't understand this type of reasoning. As much as antivaxers would like to argue the contrary, vaccines are NOT forced on anyone. People can choose not to have themselves or their children vaccinated. It's done every day.
However, most public schools REQUIRE (force and requirement are not synonymous, btw) vaccinations to be able to attend. Of course, parents can choose to not take advantage of public education.
Also, it's very unlikely that people will never use some sort of motorized transport.
Mostly, antivaxers are angry that public schools require vaccinations to be able to attend. Considering the fact that most antivaxers are also anti-government, their being upset at not being able to send their children to gov. run schools is absolutely bewildering. From what I understand no one in the Gardasil studies got cervical cancer during the study, but no one who hadn't been vaccinated had cervical cancer either. And you'd have to follow the women for the rest of their lives to know if they ended up with it. They don't even know if the women had been exposed to HPV. Oh yeah, it HPV's never been conclusively proven to cause cervical cancer. And guess what else? The vaccine was never tested on girls only older women. Given all that, why take it?

All medications and medical procedures have a risk. The benefit outweighs the risk if it helps significantly more people than it hurts. Well over 40 million doses of Gardasil have been distributed. If 50 people died as a result, those odds are MUCH better than the odds of getting run over by a car when you leave your house in the morning.

As a parent I fill very pressured into getting my daughter vaccinated, I should not be made to feel like this. The drug is still very new and I need to know more about the side effects whether these are mild, moderate or severe. I have found so far; one death, numerous disabled in various ways, well thats enough for me to think thats more than just a co-incidence.

@rennymyducky Why is it that there aren't one single death case in Asia Pacific region so far? Death upon vaccination with Gardasil has been reported, but not Cervarix.
The risk is the same with other vaccines, it's just that westerners don't see it that way since Cervical cancer is ranked 16th among all cancers compared to 2nd in Asia Pacific region.
You government have a very comprehensive screening program which is too expensive for most Asian countries to adapt.

My heart goes out to the family of this young girl... I've received similar stories even from my own circle of associates that have had close encounters with this drug, some were permanently disabled and another girl was in the hospital fighting for her life...
