gardening was invented by gathering plants and then pooping outside the camp any swallowed seeds grew in the compost soon people stopped gathering plants they thought they were gods giving birth to all plants from their butts they had poop dances celebrating their miraculous powers.
Curious how the cucumbers turned out, never heard of adding mineral rock like you mentioned and other than compost your method kind of contradicts what others have to say.
Also, I live in central Austin, TX but my biggest problem is squirrels, opossum, raccoons, mice and rats; not only do they destroy the fruit (one bite and done) but kill the plants, any suggestions? I've built large chicken wire containers this year hoping that will solve the issue.
the mineral put nutrition back on your plants that years of abusing out earth has stripped out...and your food will taste better and grow bigger. we have squirrels but i dont see them eating the garden, more the nuts in the big trees....we had a few bites out of some of our persimmons but we just shave that area off and eat them anyways, we tend to go with the philosophy that we just grow enough for us and the animal friends too!!!!
no , we plant ours 6 inches a part, 18 would be a waste of our precious limited growing space...maybe your book meant if you are not growing vertically , but if they go up to trellis, there bottoms dont take up much room and the fruits will be all up in the air
Great video...I am going to plant cukes and zucchini together this year. At 1st, I was going to do a vertical trellis...but, after watching your vid, you convinced me that a diag config will be more practical. This was the 1st video I've watched from your collection so I'm anx to see more...JT
so glad you found something i posted worth your time . i know that is precious! (your time, I mean)
i am really happy we can connect here. I work for John from growing your greens so you may recognize the same gardens! but i would love it if you watched mine , too, as i put a different twist on the same topics with my female personality!
Nice cucumber bed! I have a question for you about the cucumber spacing. I plant my cucumbers 6 inches apart, but you planted them with 3 inch spacing. Have you found you get a better yield this way? Last year I only had 8 cucumber plants along a 4ft section of trellis but they still completely filled up my trellis
i garden for john kohler. he said to do them 3 inches in his notes to me while he was away in korea. last year i did them 6 inches so i thought maybe he wanted to try something new since he likes maximum yield in the least amount of space. i know better than to question him but they look awfully close to me so perhaps we will take every other one out! not my say , til i get my own garden but i will agree with you on the 6 inch spacing as preferable! sorry for being confusing, nova
@enovalee Oh ok, that makes sense. Maybe he does plan on thinning them later then. That's a nice idea for the mykos test you're doing. Im curious to see how much of a difference it makes. I wanted to use mykos and azos this year too, but didnt get a chance to order them before I had to get my tomatoes and peppers in the ground. I'll try it next year for sure.
THIS IS GREAT NOVALOVELEE.....YOU'RE SUPER GREAT....I LIKE YOUR RELAXED APPROACH....I THINK YOU JUST NEED SOME PACKAGING AND SOME OTHER THINGS....I'M STILL ANALYZING ALL OF THIS AS TO WHAT COULD BE DONE...ANYWAY IF YOU JUST KEEP ON DOING WHAT YOU'RE DOING AND IMPROVING WHERE YOU CAN IT'S ALL GREAT, IT LOOKS LIKE WORKING WITH JOHN AS HIS PARTNER HAS BEEN A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR YOU. JOHN LOOKS LIKE HE'S AGGRESSIVE AND FOCUSED ON SPECIFIC MISSIONS...WHICH IS THE REAL KEY TO ANY BUSINESS SUCCESS.
@enovalee I am studying to become an ER LPN and eventully RN. Tough, but I am passing. I am trying to run everyday and eat right too. Warm weather here in Georgia with tons of Flowers / Plants / Herbs , etc.....but , yes, you are Imporving on Content. I am studying Medical Stuff today, but I came back to YouTube to rest my mind. Keep up the great work. Hugs
