@TastyPie95 SGU was not Voyager. When we found out what Destiny's mission was, the scope of the story became so much bigger than just getting the crew home. SGU was much more interesting than Voyager.
@patrick42h Well, Voyager was there for a reason to, to save a fuckin species from annihilation.I admit that I havent seen the latest episodes of SGU but still, it´s all just window dressing. Its still just BSG and ST: Voyager mixed with a pinch of SG: Atlantis and maybe some SG: Infinity.
@TastyPie95 It got better and better as it went. Second half of season two was pretty good. "Twin Destinies" (S2E12) has to be one of the best hours of scifi TV I have seen in a long time. I recommend going through the rest of the series.

@DeadGoldBass It was cancelled actually. The announcement was made by Syfy on 12-19-10. There will be an additional ten episodes in the spring, but that will mark its end. It was not pulling in satisfactory ratings apparently.

its awesome to think that there is a chance that earth hasn't even seen the light from the galaxies that the Destiny is in. They are several billion light years from earth. Earth only exists for 4 billion years. If they are more than 4 billion light years from earth, we don't even see the galaxies that they flying in yet. Gives you an idea of how big the universe really is.
@Savgir1 I've checked as much as I can. Aside from the fact that the band name changed from "Embassy" to "Mayday" I can't find anything outside of Youube on them. I will admit it's possible I'm not looking hard enough or in the right places so if someone else does find them I will stand corrected (or sit as the case may be). i mean anyone who's a fan and remembers all the tech they've played with throughout the years. The dynamic of an entire Galaxy being freed from oppression for the first time, and the power vacuum left behind. The war left in Pegasus and the Wraith still looking to the stars for Earth. And now a ship on course for possibly the very thing that under lays creation. Hopefully when they bring a new series back into the fold you'll understand the epic ness of the transition into this style.
It's just they had to change the dynamic of the show. Television has changed a lot and don't get me wrong the love for classic Jack Oneil may never fade. However the universe of stargate has gotten too huge and they are no longer able to tell the story they way they have in the past. To say SGA and SG1 were carbon copies would ignore how much they were different. But the point being in order to tell this epic that the franchise is on the brink of become they had to have a transition show.
People who claim that SG-1 and SGA had no char development are wonky in the head. There was plenty of character development/episodes, where have you people been for 15 years. If by char dev you mean constantly fighting amongst each other and fucking subordinate officers, then yeah SG1 and SGA have zero of that, because on those shows everyone had a sense of duty of camaraderie that I'm not seeing on SGU. Everyone's divided and cliquish and it's soap operaish.

according to me next episode will get less than 1 million viewers :P it's kinda sad actually .... the show declines in viewership each episode, last episode had 1.2 million viewers i think

im still stumped why people keep trying to compare sg1 and sga to sgu, aside from the name and the common universe its set it in, they couldnt be more different. sg1 sga was about action and adventure with beautifully cliched plots and characters. sgu is based around mystery and drama, its more like a thriller that rides on deep, complex characters and storylines that raise more questions than they solve to get you to keep coming back. its like comparing indiana jones and schinder's list...
I know, after a few seasons when they find a way to connect to destiny at will. They should ship over SG1 and the SGA team =P They'll have that ship back in less than a month and beat any aliens they find along the way, with time to spare =D

I found Stargate Universe was not as intersting as the other two in general i prefered SG-1 probably becasue of O-niel, Alantis does have some awesome space combat scenes but i found that Alantis didnt have as much combat in general compared to SG-1

But I like SGU so far, not as cachy as SGA but given the better funding and afew known actors, this series have alot of moment to grow on.
SG is the first, and only, series I've ever watched, not even seen a Lost episode... Just wanted to point that out for no obvious reason.
@LasseLundster well the darkness and such things in SGU makes me want to watch it more and more. It makes it interesting to me in my opinion. The characters are stronger, though the story is a bit well... crap i can still live with it and watch it like any SG fan should do. :)
I love SGU and I was a HUGE SG1 and SGA fanboy. I don't want them to rehash the same shit again and again. I want them to take a chance and give me something different in the SG universe and that is exactly what they have done. However, I do agree that they need to start adding a bit more action and they seem to be doing just that in season 1.5. Budget is a big factor and they production design is absolutely beautiful in every episode and that costs $. More viewers= bigger budget= more CGI.
I will say that so far season 1.5 has been more interesting. I'm glad Dr. Rush was not kept out for long, and Colonel Young is showing more balls. The new aliens were a sweet addition, as was seeing that Destiny has some teeth. It's like sci-fi shows of the cast, where the characters needs to develop along the way. Star Trek TNG was the same way, the first season was very shaky with character and plot. Then you have shows like Lost thaat drop you right in, SG:U is right in the middle.
@SerenityJD7, Don't compare TNG's 1st season to this. At least the beginning of TNG gave us the perspective of whats coming, with the Q and so on... But this is just emo shit, I'm tired already of hearing characters complain and whine about how fucked up they are, they should all go commit suicide since they are stuck there for at least 1 more season. Who cares if thy have weapons if they cant use them, 13episodes and they still haven't explored the ship, all they do is talk, nothing more...

Lol that's because Rodney is a science God. He, Sam and Rush could together turn that ship into Earth's flag ship in a heartbeat, with new modifications, personnel and fighters.
Why? It's the best of the three so far. The other two got so f***ing boring and repetitive I wanted to hit something. It was just the same thing over and over again. Things go normally, a problem occurs, it seems impossible to fix, and then either Sam or Rodney would just snap their fingers and say: "Oh wait! Now I know what to do!" SGU is far, FAR better than either SG1 or SGA. More realistic, better characters and a continuous storyline.
@RealDougal the only story in sgu so far is to stay alive and the fight between Rush and young..... not to much of a plot there my friend. At least not yet.
I can't wait till Stagate: Extinction comes out!! It's going to be the best movie of stagate ever! Atlantis on Earth, What can be wrong?...let's see :D
@DeadGoldBass What can go wrong? A lot of things actually; for one, the cloak can fail, exposing Atlantis to San Fransisco. Second, the engines might fail when they lift off, causing the city to crash down, crushing anything it it's path and causing a tidal wave flooding parts of the city. Just to name two ^^

This show sure has less action scenes, less than sg1 or atlantis,thats correct. For a lot of people thats the reason they dont like it...but at least Universe has character developmnet, a thing we couldn't see in either of the other series..well,maybe with mckay and his lovelife,but that's all...and other characters became boring to season 9-10..think about charter,she wasn't much of a character as atlantis leader...she was there...and thats is..nothing more...

im still stumped why people keep trying to compare sg1 and sga to sgu, aside from the name and the common universe its set it in, they couldnt be more different. sg1 sga was about action and adventure with beautifully cliched plots and characters. sgu is based around mystery and drama, its more like a thriller that rides on deep, complex characters and storylines that raise more questions than they solve to get you to keep coming back. its like comparing indiana jones and schinder's list...

I know, after a few seasons when they find a way to connect to destiny at will. They should ship over SG1 and the SGA team =P They'll have that ship back in less than a month and beat any aliens they find along the way, with time to spare =D

I found Stargate Universe was not as intersting as the other two in general i prefered SG-1 probably becasue of O-niel, Alantis does have some awesome space combat scenes but i found that Alantis didnt have as much combat in general compared to SG-1

SG-1 gehört zu meiner Lieblings Sci Fi Serie, vorallem die ersten Staffeln waren genial als die Menschen noch net übermächtige Raumschiffe und Waffen hatten, bei Atlantis mochte ich vorallem die ersten beiden Staffeln noch. Mit Universe kann ich aber rein garnix anfangen.

My opinion and yes MY opinion so i dont want anyone to reply negative things about it.
1.SGA
2.SGU
3.SG1
why? Atlantis just leet , i love the story, i love the technology and i love the characters.
SGU is really interesting in my eyes, much more darker and stronger characters.
SG1 well i loved the show i really did... but now it has become kinda "old" to me and i keep watching any Stargate show so tbh i love all 3

@MechaOut Yeah I saw that too, would kick ass to like see them wrap up all lose ties.. But again, there's so many of them it'll be sad to see it end, regardless of how they do it..
But I like SGU so far, not as cachy as SGA but given the better funding and afew known actors, this series have alot of moment to grow on.
SG is the first, and only, series I've ever watched, not even seen a Lost episode... Just wanted to point that out for no obvious reason.

@LasseLundster well the darkness and such things in SGU makes me want to watch it more and more. It makes it interesting to me in my opinion. The characters are stronger, though the story is a bit well... crap i can still live with it and watch it like any SG fan should do. :)

I love SGU and I was a HUGE SG1 and SGA fanboy. I don't want them to rehash the same shit again and again. I want them to take a chance and give me something different in the SG universe and that is exactly what they have done. However, I do agree that they need to start adding a bit more action and they seem to be doing just that in season 1.5. Budget is a big factor and they production design is absolutely beautiful in every episode and that costs $. More viewers= bigger budget= more CGI.

I will say that so far season 1.5 has been more interesting. I'm glad Dr. Rush was not kept out for long, and Colonel Young is showing more balls. The new aliens were a sweet addition, as was seeing that Destiny has some teeth. It's like sci-fi shows of the cast, where the characters needs to develop along the way. Star Trek TNG was the same way, the first season was very shaky with character and plot. Then you have shows like Lost thaat drop you right in, SG:U is right in the middle.

@SerenityJD7, Don't compare TNG's 1st season to this. At least the beginning of TNG gave us the perspective of whats coming, with the Q and so on... But this is just emo shit, I'm tired already of hearing characters complain and whine about how fucked up they are, they should all go commit suicide since they are stuck there for at least 1 more season. Who cares if thy have weapons if they cant use them, 13episodes and they still haven't explored the ship, all they do is talk, nothing more...

Well Danny Jackson is going to the Destiny soon and O'Neil's a recurring guest star in more than a few eps so far, sadly as an Earth based desk jockey which to be fair is how he ended up in SG-1.

Why? It's the best of the three so far. The other two got so f***ing boring and repetitive I wanted to hit something. It was just the same thing over and over again. Things go normally, a problem occurs, it seems impossible to fix, and then either Sam or Rodney would just snap their fingers and say: "Oh wait! Now I know what to do!" SGU is far, FAR better than either SG1 or SGA. More realistic, better characters and a continuous storyline.

@DeadGoldBass What can go wrong? A lot of things actually; for one, the cloak can fail, exposing Atlantis to San Fransisco. Second, the engines might fail when they lift off, causing the city to crash down, crushing anything it it's path and causing a tidal wave flooding parts of the city. Just to name two ^^
