@utra1337 if you can't see the beauty and the depth of this anime than you're just a childish, blind human. This is x5000 better than Yu Gi Oh because it's not just one simple plot and storyline that some 3 year old could come up with. It is complex and filled with symbolism and questions and ideas that few people think about. It is light but dark at the same time. It's amazing because it reflects life and the struggles everyone goes through. It's incredible because it's not just childish crap.
This is my favorite song of all time. It's simple and easy enough to play, but has a sort of complexity and deep feeling to it that makes it so beautiful.
Ko Otani, you outdid yourself when you made the music for this anime.
This is my favorite series by far. I have never cried so hard for joy and sorrow. This is a beautiful song. If I could, I'd give Yoshitoshi the biggest hug of his life. This series made my life.
The best anime ever! So peaceful and beautiful! You can't help the fascination to these little winged children who are wiser than anyone I know!! And so sad because this is not the paradise...
I just watched the last episode... I fell in love with this anime... Loved the story, so inspiring, the music also great. I think I'm becoming a new anime fan...
0:48 - 1:00 - That particular part was played subtly in the background throughout the series. I always remember it, yet when I try to remember what it sounded like, I get the melody from NOIR instead...or the opening to Nazca. So it's called Hanenone...
I thought it sounded like the "Boys and girls of every age, wouldn't you like to see something strange" melody from the first song in "The Nightmare before Christmas."
Hanenone is the name of the soundtrack itself. The song is called "Ailes Grises."
its like a bird has broken its wings and has been left behind in a cruel endless winter the last minute of the song echos with betryal as the others leave it behind without care
I finally found this song!! I've been looking for it for like a year! Oh, I love this anime so much. I can't even describe how this anime (specifically Reki's story) has touched me. And the music is absolutely beautiful.
hey could someone tell me any other songs that sound like the first 25 seconds of this song? it reminds me of like medieval style almost.. im not sure of the actual style name.. anyway its very pretty and id love to hear more similar stuff
It's nice to see a lot more people who know about this anime since I last listened to this. :)
Honestly, how many stories are written like this? It has a feel to it that I believe no other stories have tried to go for. I wish there were more like this.
@ItachiMoon17 I'm on the last episode, yet, I re-watch the others instead of finishing the show. perhaps I am reluctant to end the series. Why only 13 episodes?
It really is a pretty tune. I didn't recognize it at first because I forgot that that was how the beginning sounded... but yeah, this song is beautiful. I want to learn it on the piano.

After I watch this anime
I realized I have fulfilled something deeply, and no other creation can touch me like this.
And I don't watch anime that often anymore.

Never realized that this guy composed the soundtracks to both Haibane Renmei & Shadow of the Colossus, but I can hear the similarities now.

@Wonkadonk2 For good reason. The music of Haibane Renmei was composed by the same guy who did the music to Shadow of the Colossus.

Such a pretty song but also so full of emotion.

It's so sad and lonely but somewhat sweet and lovely... mysterious... It's the sound track of anime but like the one of serious movie.

I love this OST, though I'm not a huge fan of oranges & lemons singing for more 'serious' themesongs.
the instrumentals are quite pretty, though :)

Are there any other songs from this anime that have a variation of the part that starts at about 0:48? I swear I heard it throughout the series.

@YHaveUForsakenMe 'Fading' has a similar refrain, though a slightly more 'sad' sounding version

@YHaveUForsakenMe "Garasu no Yume", Dream of Glass, which wasn't included on this album. Its refrain pops up at various times in various songs.

I fell in love with this piece the moment I heard it.
It did great with the scene in the first episode when Rakka was floating in the night sky, with the black crow by her side.
Definitely my favorite soundtrack from this series.

I found this anime on a review site...it gives really detailed reviews of stuff and it gave a score of 92% for this anime...
Which is sort of a recommendation to me...and I am really glad that i found this piece of gold =)

I agree with the feeling to the anime. ^^
It gives you a whole new perspective on live and the music from it is absolutely beautiful.

Yes, I feel like it's an anime that contains symbolism, and most anime don't tend to have that...
It's very good storytelling. Honestly, I could go on and on. And ABe is great! His art style is pretty, and he makes very meaningful stories.
