This is difficult to say, "it is all about preference." Because we now have Quake 3, Quake Live, and Open Arena; which all plays pretty much the same! 0_o Which gaming community is more popular? I don't know! @_@

@necro1029 it IS quake 3. It uses all of the q3 assets, it's pretty much just repackaged with different models and maps and a few differences(rocket speed, autodownload is actually fast). Even all the custom maps made for quake 3 will work no problem with openarena. You will be missing the original q3 textures, but people have made a replacement texture .pk3 to fix that. Many q3 mods will even work in openarena too, like noghost and xbattle.

@GerbaIity I actually kind of like Quake Live, because I don't have deal with horrible mods. But I dislike it as well, because you have to pay if you want more maps. :/ Also, I can't seem to find a server in OA or Q3 that doesn't mess up with the game. I mean, I don't mind downloading player-made maps. But player mods? No way! It just ruins it. Plus why what is with insta-gib and rocket only matches is so popular? I can't seem to find a straight decent 'un-modded' regular default DM. :(

@MAT0R0 you are right, instagib and allrocket is a little too popular in oa for my taste, I much prefer vanilla ctf. there are vanilla dm servers that are active in north america (see digichalk and ciggaweed) that do get traffic. I am not sure about european dm servers though.

This is so awesome! What is with gamers into tactical FPS now a days? This is true skill, since you have to snipe some one running 1000mph, or shoot rockets and have an educated guess were the opposing player is going to land into the shot. Great vid.
