One must remember that AI focuses more on developing countries, where most women are discriminated against and viewed as property. The abuse and inequality there is far more severe than it is in developed countries.

this isn't the point that they are trying to make, many cultures favor males over females and don't agree with women in education and try to make it difficult for them. In times of war women are especially vunerable
