BTW, check out the battle of Fonteroy where the small Irish brigade charged the British Army relentlessly, taking horrific casualties but turned a French retreat into a victory, forcing the Brits to leave the field at a cost of 80% casualties.

The Us tried to keep all of mexico, but had lost 90% of its officers(that is why the marines have a red band in their dress uniform). Your history is somewhat vague. The red stripe was worn before the Mexican War. The French weren't ":kicked out". They were forced to withdraw most of their forces to face a possible Prussian invasion. The U.S. never intended to annex all of Mexico. Did I specifically say Ireland was a shit hole? I've been there. It's a beautiful country. But perhaps during the potato famine it wasn't.

The treatment of the Irish, including my own ancestors, bu the US was one of the most shameful parts of American history. However, the Irish overcame it, and built this whole damn country from the ground up. Despite occurences like this, I am proud to be Irish-American, and a war veteran.

True, but lets not forget that there were many German Catholics as well as French, Canadians, Spanish, Poles, Scots, English, and Swiss Catholics as well. Those of Anglo-Saxon decent have been great at starting wars, but usually call upon those they persecute to fill the ranks. Some of the most feared units on both sides of the American Civil War were made up of Irish not to be confused with "Scotch-Irish".
