They can practice their religion as long as it does not break our laws. ie, lets say there's a religion that demands you drive 20 mph over the speed limit. You can practice the religion, but if you drive 20 mph over the speed limit, you're breaking the law, and would be punished accordingly.
Christianity was just as violent and expansionist in it's hayday as well.
