This is mostly due to the Chinese raping of Tibet, Tibetan people and the environmental resources. It's not just lumber, gold, silver, copper, uranium, coal, etc. Just prior to the cultural revolution, they cleared out most of the monasteries and took thousands of tons of gold and silver statues to foundries in mainland China to be melted down and sold. When people see that what has happens in Tibet affects the world the Chinese invasion will go down as one of the greatest of human atrocities.

在所謂的西藏自治區境內的林芝地區，由於在這些地區砍伐森林除了­危害西藏環境而外，短期內還看不出與中國本土有很大的影響，所以­中共不僅沒有停止砍伐，而且鼓勵當地人砍伐，使林芝的天然森林接­近枯竭。當地中共政府正在以三千元人民幣的價格向人民出售砍伐證­，所砍伐的木材中一半要以低價出售給地方林業單位，另一半允許外­銷，這實際上是在繼續促使掠奪性的采伐。

I think they should of mentioned tourist pollution and the Chinese trying to commercialize the land in any way possible. Selling off lumber and such when the plant life takes 5 times longer to grow due to the altitude. The global warming effects have little to do with the Chinese invasion...although both are terrible in their own right.
