Axl's vocals could often be hit and miss live, but on his day he was awesome. Seen him live 6 times and was blown away by a performance in 2002, and then gutted in 2006 when his performance was dire. Mostly I agree with the guys that rate his '88 performances as highlighted in Live at the Ritz. This is the GN'R that I fell in love with. Magic like that is fleeting, you have to make a pact with the devil or something for that. I reckon that Axl did sell his soul to Satan to be have been that good

1992, for sure. Back then, Axl was a complete beast. If I was alive back then, I would've gone to a show JUST to see Axl perform... Now in 2006, he's still that hyper-active devil we all know, but over the years, his body's gotten older and his voice has strained.
