  • I've been doing this exercise while standing. I have to be careful of my back.I'm 55 years old and I'm training for the senior games next year. I'm looking for some new training exercises.

  • ok, i wanna se u hold ur body off the ground with ur legs and then try to twist. The kift he is doing is a very good lift. Nothing wrong with it

  • no seriously. there are several different kinds of russian twists, but if you do this one, you lock your shoulders with the bench which shortens the radius of a hammer throw for exampel. You can for example hang with your body right out, or put a supporting bench under your head. The shoulders needs space to move.

  • this is more of a discus or rotational shotput spin than hammer.

  • Doesn't matter if you throw the hammer or not. If you struggle to keep your arms straight the lever will be consistant. Many people bend their arms when it's getting heavy which is cheating.

  • @ohedd I did it with bend arms standing up though, after a few weeks it felt really light and now I do them with fully extended arms.

  • well your both have bad points....it may be sport specific but its not good for athletism to be unbalanced strength wise is a certain body part...also im sure he does one side first and then the otherside they jsut didn't show it

  • the better way to do this is to keep your arms extended and keep both legs infront of you . its a very good excercise
