  • In was taught that you cannot play the same chord across a barline (bars 3 - 4). Also, what about the Leading Tone in the V chord of bar 3? Shouldn't this rise to the C? These are easily fixable issues, but in some cases the finicky details lead to having to rethink the entire harmonic progression.

I know this is an old comment, but I'll reply anyways. Repeated chords across bars are really more a personal preference. Some teach not to repeat chords from a weaker beat to a stronger beat, and while this is a good thing to follow generally, it should not be regarded strictly. Similarly, the leading tone resolution is not meant to be followed 100% when moving from V to IV or VI. When moving from V to I, you MUST resolve the leading tone. It is not necessary otherwise.

  • strange five bar phrase :-/ lol

  • @pianomonkey151 That is a 4 bar phrase...

  • Bingo you are correct!!! Ahhh!

  • You've got parallel 5th between the Tenor and Bass in measure 4. Other than that, good lesson.
