  • Tim Robinson the writer?!

  • @iambiased716 Sadly not...

  • THIS is how you honor the master Django Reinhardt! Good job!

  • It sounds a little to good ??

  • CHEATER you used more than two fingers. aint grizz baby

  • Good ... you've inspired me!

    Thanks.

  • did django play with a pick?

  • @chaplinconspiracy about 98% of the time, yes.

  • I did a cover of this myself too, but only the intro yet unfortunatelly. Btw this is lovely keep it up and thats an amazing sound of a guitar.

  • beautiful guitar! Such quality sound probably costs 2000 pounds or sth

  • sorry, I read comments below and learnt that this guitar was made by a luthier. sounds great.

  • What model of gitane do you play on this clip?

  • Your record player is awesome

  • god damn. maybe i should shut my mouth and hang up my guitar. this is great. i dont know if i could ever work this one out by ear. it would take many excruciating months. bravo.

  • Hats off to you sir, you play with great emotion and stellar tone.

  • Nice job. Screw the critics.

  • Bloody inspiring mate!

  • I agree with many of the comments about playing the theme within the chord progressions. But the your rendition is still great!

  • well....now that you've color'd yourself in as tone deaf and melody impotant....I guess I really don't need to come up with any insults of my own.

no, I was referring to Fernando Sor....perhaps you know the history?

  • that isn't a Django song...that song is way older then Django's era.....there was a symphony based on the opening melody.

  • @issofunky You mean an open E major chord? Surely not!

  • At about 2:00 , abit too squarish for me

    but i love it anyway

  • Play the solos with two fingers, It can be done! You will retink the whole fretboard, and your picking is wrong. Some down strokes that seem obvious are up strokes and the oposite is true. By trying to emulate Djengo and play with his style regardless of how many fingers you have it makes any person a better instrumentalist.

  • @Satchmoeddie Er.. thanks for your post. In fact it is not possible to play this piece with just two fingers, you need to use at least your thumb on the bottom string and the third finger on the top two strings.

  • @Satchmoeddie Actually... Django used his other 2 fingers, but for chords. It's during solo's that he's limited to using his main 2 fingers, which thrip seemed to do rather well. Great vid.

  • @Satchmoeddie That's stupid. by playing with less fingers than what hes used to (since he has all 5 fingers which weren't messed up in an accident), he is inhibiting his playing. and he would not rethink his fretboard, he would rethink his finger movements. I know it can be done, but that's stupid. plus dont emulate his style, pick pieces and be influenced by them and create your own style. direction of picking is not important either. it's whatever the hell he wants to pick. u = bad guitarist

  • Amazing playing- great music-thanks

  • very nice played . i m fan of you kiss from jura france !!!

  • Great playin

  • Great job! You really should be proud of yourself! This was an excellent cover, it sounds just as the recording does!

  • @Rockabillykid01 thanks!

  • Ah, Django - what majesty, what beauty! And you echoed his genius with a fine performance. Thanks!

  • @philipatoz thanks for your nice comment!

  • Tim - you're very welcome - bookmarked your posting for repeated listenings. Got a question - and as a student of Django you may be able to shed some light on this: I've always wondered whether Django's playing wasn't a LOT more physically difficult - compared to contemporary guitarists - I question whether the guitars of his day offered the lower action, better quality necks/frets, and thus (what I would imagine to be) MUCH better playability, offered by many of TODAY's higher-end arch-tops.

  • Well you can hear that Django was a very powerful player, developed as a result of playing a relatively quiet acoustic instrument in the days before amplification. However there are many myths about his playing, one of them being that he played with very heavy strings. Not so, strings were actually quite light: .10 - .46, and the guitar had if not quite as low action as a modern electric guitar, certainly quite playable.

  • The necks of Selmers are bit thicker than normal these days on account of there not being a truss rod, but again not to different from today. So really not a great deal of difference in the playability.

  • @thrip .10s are you sure?

  • @awesomewelles90 Do a search for "savarez argentine strings" they are the strings Django used, and are still the most popular choice for Selmer type guitars.

  • Nice!

  • to fast...butt verry good luv this song

  • Love that song!

  • Pretty darned perfect!
