  • what is this

  • The music is even awesomer if you play 2 copies with a 10 sec delay

  • @yeerkburner Cool. LOL I do that kind of stuff too. Funny.

  • WTF?

  • I disliked this because of the music you forced on us and you spinning around. Its a teaching video so open your mouth and teach.

  • @Lizardatsparks Dang you are a rude one.

  • @daligoddess2006 Apparently there are those that need to take the "recreating myself" more literally and get right on it! Nice vid Dali, thank you from those of us that are smart enough to watch the video and understand exactly what it requires to do the project and get tired of listening to people talk. Not my taste in music but enjoyed the vid just the same.

  • very cool technique, music is annoying though

  • I did this. My eyes are terrible. My face itches. :(

  • i speak french.....! but i can say: this is very cool!!!!!!!

  • can i do this with paper mache? it would be so much cheaper

  • @wowhead1227 is too long before his dry

  • person in this video looks beautiful is she native? and who sings these songs?

  • Thanks for the great video.

This was the first video I've seen where someone has shown how to put the plaster strips over the lips. I'm planning on making my own mask in the same way. Thank you for demonstrating.

  • I want to thank you so very much in providing this video. I was very anxious in having to do a mask of my face for a sculpture project. My teacher made it seemed so daunting! I am so glad I searched and found your amazing video. I actually had a good time doing it. I listened to your video (and that great music) while applying the plaster strips to my face. I am recommending this video to the other students in my class. So thanks so very much.

  • @alicemfbrown I am so glad you enjoyed the music and the video helped you with your project. That's fantastic! I love helping people.

  • Thanks for the video, it helped my daughter understand her school project!!

  • Are these bandages similar to Plaster Bandages from fxwarehouse 'dot' info?

  • how much of the roll did u use ii usually use half but idk

  • @P3G4S1S For this mask, I think I use about 1/4 of the roll. You can use as much as you like. It depends on how strong you want the mask to be and what you plan to use it for. Although, you do lose some detail of the face if you make it too thick.

  • Your mask is amazing! Thanks so much! This video really helped me in my project! The music is amazing, as well! I see it's from rmrgirl but where can I find that particular song nostalgia? It's beautiful.

  • @ekorac91 She is working on a cd now. I'll let you know when it's out. Thank you! I'm really happy you like the music.

  • this looks exactly like what i want to do kind of. I want to do this. and use maybe a laytex on the inside (for non stick purposes) and then maybe like a liquid plastic to have my own custom plastic mask. you think it would work? even smoothness wise?

  • @TheBlink182Boy It might work, if you make the mask thick enough. The inside of the plaster mask is where I presume you will pour the latex and that part of the mask is smooth, like your face. The outside has the roughness of the plaster cloth. However, I am not certain that the plaster mask would hold up during the latex drying process. I have never worked with latex. I would like to give it a try sometime myself.

  • @TheBlink182Boy This is Michael Jackson's secret wife. He didn't want anyone to

know about her....lol So let's keep it to ourselves. No one likes a big mouth...lol

  • Pretty lady and fun too :-)! I like the project, however it wasn´t what I was looking for. I want to make mold of face and this wouldn´t probably work, because the cloth would make the patern inside the mold (??)

    ...I like the song too.

  • @finehomemadewine The inside of the face mask is pretty smooth, like your face, however, I don't think the structure itself would be strong enough for what you are trying to do.

  • @finehomemadewine Thanks for watching. Don't know if it will work. Please see the comment I left for TheBlink182Boy. It might help you.

  • @finehomemadewine You need to use alginate or a lifecasting silicone on the face to capture the detail. There are plenty of good lifecasting resources which will show you the procedure, and how-to DVD's. If you Google 'Lifecasting' and 'Lifecasting with alginate' you should find something.

  • self obsession

  • whats up with this dumbass music?

  • @vatopr Dang man, you wearing your "cranky pants" today or what?

  • @daligoddess2006 nope, just bein truthful

  • @vatopr Well each to his own opinion I suppose. The music happens to be my daughter's and I'm pretty sure you already know that, so I know you are trying really hard to hurt my feelings, but you haven't. Go troll somewhere else, because this conversation is getting dull.

  • @vatopr well i dont mind the music at all...

  • How did yu get the cloth so perfectly shaped? Is It spreadable or? Lol

  • @Spike4Child Sort of, to a certain extent All I can say is give it a try and you'll see how easy and fun it is.

  • Decent video, the description gets more to the facts than the video IMO

don't know why there was so much video of yourself on the start

  • @Drokua89 also needs a commentary

  • Dang, give me a break Drokua89! LOL This was one of my first videos back in 2006 when I first joined YouTube. I didn't know what heck I was doing. The biggest thing I was interested in, was getting all three of my daughter's original songs out there. However, I may do a SHORT, HOW TO video about this process in the future WITH a COMMENTARY. I am getting ready to do a large piece of art which includes these type of masks anyway. On my way to check out YOUR videos now. *laughs*

  • @Drokua89 Oh I see what you are talking about in the beginning. THAT was an intro song contest I held for YouTubers. Tom Strum won the contest for the best intro song, so of course I wanted to include the entire song in my new intro, right? I was showcasing another YouTubers original song.

  • @Drokua89 and shes jockin off of the handy goddess with her name...TheHandyGoddess spins around at first too... but for like 3 seconds

  • @vatopr LOL, whatever. I just looked at the handy goddess's channel. She didn't even join YT until 2010. I've been here since 2006 and this video was posted 3 years ago. I've been "daligoddess" on the internet since 2002 --only because someone had already taken the screen name "daliwoman" when I got my first computer. I don't jock off anyone, I have plenty of original ideas to last me a lifetime. ~Love and Peace

  • Hello, does plaster bandage get hot when it is setting like powder plaster of paris does?

  • @juneyb01 No. There is no heat from it, except for the hot water you use to wet the cloth.

  • whats the name of the song please, not the into one, but the other one ?

  • 1 min for an intro to long... 1 star

  • @fuzzzzbuzzzz

what are you talking about the intro was great

  • @MrEmoKKK its ok, as a kid out attention span is very short, etc

  • @MrEmoKKK Thanks for your support! Sweet!

  • @fuzzzzbuzzzz You're right the intro was too long. This is a very old video and the intro was a tribute to Tom Strum, the guy who won my Music Contest, so of course I wanted to include his entire song. IF I use an intro to my vids now, (3 yrs later) they are super short. Thanks for your comment.

  • I didnt give 1 star I gave 4, I skipped past the intro and saw the light and the point.

  • what's the exact time? how long does it take to make it?

  • Really you need about an hour, is all.

  • your dog is playing around at the background.. 4:12 LOL

  • cool,, just like a jabbawockeez mask!!

tnx and very helpful though it takes lots of time to make

  • can you do this with just newspaper or computer paper??

  • I guess so, although you would need to experiment with different substances to hold it together.

  • you will fail it use plaster bands its 5:00 $ xxD

  • People be careful! Plaster of paris contains gypsum which creates an exothermic reaction when mixed with water. This means that the plaster can get very hot! people have had body parts amputated because they left plaster on their body too long!!!

  • really omfg xxD

  • kk thanks

  • can u cut the eyes too make them bigger ?? thanks

  • Yes, you can cut the mask after it has dried. Depending on how thick you made it, you should be able to trim with a regular scissors.

  • if you dont wannago the vasilne route, for hair and lips, you can also use olive oil. rub it on, let dry for a couple of minutes before applying, works just as good if not better.

the thickness of the mask ( layers ) depends n the sanding. a fine grit sand paper works best ive found. on parts not ready to be sanded i use powder plaster to finish smooth.

  • plaster of paris expands (hot) when setting and when set it will cool and retract. Never dip your hand in a pot of POP and let it set. And if you want to keep your mold dont let the mold cover your face competely. It must lay, but not cover your face. my 2 cents.

  • yea you have a point there.....im just afraid to do it my face becasue it might stick to my eyebrows and eyelids and i think it might hurt if you force it to peel it of your hair...anyway this is a very nice video and it helped me make my own jabbawockeez mask....keep it up.... :)

  • you can always cover your eyebrows with medical gauze tape or plastic wrap first.

  • i dont trust this...putting vaseline on our lips is not good...i suggest using a head of manikin so that it would be way safer and you can see what you are doing....anyway can plaster be sand polished? pls reply

  • Why do you say vaseline is not good on our lips? That's what people used back in the day before chap stick was invented. If you made the mask on a manikin, you wouldn't be "re-creating yourself" and that's what this video is about. Like the vaseline, all things in moderation, that's the key. I don't now about sand polishing the plaster, never tried it. You could try it, but I would think it might be too fragile for that. Thanks for watching.

  • you can sandpaper the plaster but how thick are you going to apply it???? ! Also a craftsman would get it right without needing to sandpaper it.

  • how many layers do you do?

  • Depends on how thick you want it and whether or not you plan to use the inside or the outside for your art work. The inside can be used to make other types of casts and you may want to add more layers to make the outside stronger. I used between 2-3 layers on this one because I was using the outside of the cast as my art, so I didn't want to lose the details.

  • is it safe to put vaseline in your lips..??

and can i use plaster custer ?

  • Some say vaseline is good for chapped lips, others say it is harmaful and can cause a rash on the lips. I say, it didn't hurt me, but it's not like I do it everyday all day long and it's only on there until the project is completed. (15 -20 minutes) You could try a lip gloss if you are worried about the vaseline or have an allergy to petroleum. Sorry, I don't know what plaster custer is. I've only ever used the plaster cloth for this project.

  • can u use paper mache

  • Never tried it, but you might be able to, although I don't think paper mache would give as much definition.

  • thank you for your reply, this method will come in handy for me when i am making a base to use model magic XD

  • is the product your using actually known as Plaster of Paris Cloth or is it cloth placed in a warm water and plaster of paris mix?

  • It's actually Plaster of Paris cloth. It's ready to go in the package. All you have to do is cut the size you need and put it in water.

  • where can i get plaster of paris??

i know it not sell in pharmacist sorry..

  • At an art supply store.

  • where can i get plaster of paris??

    in pharmacist??

  • thanks! but can put a video how to make jabbawockeez mask using ur own face?

    please make!

  • can u make a jabbawockeez mask?

    using ur face?

    and smoothen the mask

  • Yes. You would just have to make it thicker, then sand it down. You might even be able to smooth a thin coat of polymer clay on it to make it extra smooth. Bake it following directions on the package (real low temperature) and after it cools, you could paint it white or any other color you wanted.

  • just like the jabbawockeez mask

  • Yeah, sort of, except this one has texture and theirs are shiney and smooth. I love those dancers!

  • well that was a long enough begging wasn't it and the music sucks

  • Thanks!!! I cannot wait to try this with the kids, maybe do several and give as gifts to grandmas for Christmas! :)

  • well my problem is i dont have a video to do that with, i only have pictures

  • yes they do

but in stead off trick or treat they sing songs to us

and the grown ups do go too

    in my town

so today it will be a lot, it is a cold clear evning, no snow or rain

  • Yaaaay! This was fun. Peace, Angie

  • Thanks Angie. Glad you liked it! These are fun to do. I try to do this to all my friends! They make great art projects later on too.

  • I love your smile .... on a stick.

    ;~)

  • Flux~ Yeah, I keep it around for those times when I just can't break a smile! Ha!

  • xcellente

  • icecorescientist~ Thanks for dropping by! =D

  • You are so wonderful, Dali! I think of you often when I'm about my artsy doings and you make me laugh at myself when I get too serious.

  • yombo~ Coolsome. It's good to laugh at ourselves occasionally. Glad I inspire humor. =D

  • Dear Dali, you are beautiful.

  • nicolatwo~ Thank you. =)

  • too cool.

  • alphaba2~ Thanks. This is a great project to do to your kid's faces every few years.

  • WOW!! that is really cool! but hey, what can i say, it came from u!! another great video!

  • MoonGal~ Thanks again to you! It's a fun project. I hope to get some video responses of people trying it!

  • COOL! now I want to try this...

busy - when do you sleep? LOL

btw - love the intro & outro

  • NiteBlogger~ Thank you. I don't sleep very well actually. I slept only 3 hours last night.

  • SSGLuceygirl~ Can't wait to see yours! You should do one of Jared and William too! It's cool to do the kids every few years while they're growing up.

  • sherriwestfall~ I'm sure we would have lots of fun and interesting adventures! =D

  • would this stick to a beard? I'd really like to do it, but I've had my beard for over 20 years....don't wanna lose it. Thanks for sharing this technique!

  • slorge~ As long as you put LOTS of vaseline on your beard, it won't be a problem. I actually did it to someone with a beard before! LOTS of vaseline, or it will hurt when you pull it off.

  • I remember when you did this to MY face! *giggle* I am always the ever willing participant! :D This is COOLSOME! I am SO honored you used some of my tracks, and I must say, they fit so perfectly with the theme! Love You BTTS!

  • rmrsgirl~ Yes, I know...I remember and I have the masks now. Your sister brought them back from Florida for me! YAY! I've really missed them. I REALLY miss you! Love you, BTTS! ALWAYS! XXXOOO

  • Have ya ever thought about being an Art Teacher? You would be the best!

  • Thanks Lisa. Ya know, I did do an arts & crafts thing with kids on spring break at this resort I where I worked and I LOVED it! The kids LOVED me too! It was a joy! Now you've got me thinkin'....hmmmmmmmmmmm

  • YOU SHOULD TOTALLY DO IT!!!

  • This was really cool! I could tell you've done this one before when I saw you cut up the strips. WOW, thanks for sharing!!!! Congrats on the honors!

  • artgirlsreality~ Yep, I have done this before. I did each of my three children's faces. I'll have to show them in another vid sometime. Thanks so much for watching.

  • I think I would spook myself to create such a thing. I remember doing this with paper mache in grade school and one of the kids who was claustrophobic freaked out during the process.

Um, I loved the soundtrack and the yellow wall with the palm tres. You are such an spark in the dark. I'm just loving your videos.

  • Natural20Films~ My daughter created the background music in this vid. rmrsgirl. She has a channel here on YouTube. Thanks for your VERY COOLSOME comments. You always put a smile on my face!
