I feel sorry for Jonathan Arthors Beagle :( poor doggie. The movie I find still has key points Gene Roddenberry wanted to make public, look at when Spock was accepted into the Vulcan Science Academy and declined because they because of their discrimination against his half - human side and his human mother. Also there is age discrimination due to how old Pavel Andreyevich Chekov is.

Side note I do believe Genes wife also voiced Madame Web in the Spider Man cartoon from the 90s

Actually, the Uhura/Spock thing was hinted at. Also, the first interracial kiss was supposed to be between Spock and Uhura. Shatner insisted he do it.

That USS Enterprise you show is the retrofiited version from the Star Trek:The Motion Picture when Kirk was Admiral,Spock retires to Vulcan & McCOy returns to Earth.I agree I don't like the new enterprise. I think they changed it cause in the movie they were fixing up the Enterprise maybe to make it better? I hated that Spock and Ahura (or whatever her name is) kissed! I agree her and Krik should be together not Spock and Ahura...I loved Scotty! (Simon Pegg) I have respect now for JJ cause of this movie, he did a fantastic job! Nimoy is very picky with his work and how his character and stuff is portrayed....agreed that if it was that bad...he wouldn't have put his name on this. i understand they wanted to make the enterprise look more modern...and they kept the general look of it correct...i just think they went a little too overboard. The Uhura thing was just a small annoyance to me. That simon pegg guy did a good job as scotty if you ask me...even the original actors son said he did...that's a great compliment!

I disagree, this bares the name Star Trek and has the names of the original characters with a few of their traits but in general this is not star trek. If the only way to allow this series to continue is by making it 'Cool' 'Funky' 'Sexy' and gasp cheesy and Star Wars like then it should be left for dead, we'll always have what came before. Yeah the visuals in this movie are awesome but the story is weak, just loud bang rush around loud bang. Simple case of Style over Content.

I disagree...every single actor picked up some of the more obvious character traits. Obviously since these are different actors then the originals, they won't all have the same traits. If these new actors did it, it would be a cheap imitation and i think that would ruin the film. i also very much disagree that the story was weak. I think it was brilliantly put together and pretty well brought to life. Give me some more solid reasons why you think otherwise and i'll consider your p.o.v.

and if you're going to go with the argument of style over content...then the last 4 movies, which was based on content...should have done much better. Especially Insurrection which was a story rich movie but poorly executed...the content needed new style put into it to bring new, younger people to the franchise. Obviously, to get younger people you need to have cool, sexy stuff to draw attention.

Unfortunately, most of the new generation of fans who have been brought onboard by Abrams have been pretty vicious in their assessments of the classic series based on what I've seen.

I'm still skeptical like you and I hope I come out of it feeling like you do.

I liked the fact that the starring was in the characters, not in the gimmicks or the visual effect or the strange creatures, like in the second trilogy (wel, supposed to be the first) of Star Wars

if you know who kirk and spock is... and what they basically did... then youll get it...if you dont know who spock or kirk are... then its gonna confuse you a little bit

Not really, they pretty much explain the characters from scratch, and Nero tells kirk he knows him as an important character from earth's history and with the ships computer calling spock and ambassador after old spock tells kirk how he and spock are friends for life and work together, all you really need is hints to know they obviously did some cool/badass stuff, but none of that is relevant since this is a new timeline anyway.

I might agree it ,made a lot of money. but when I say he destroy the orginal Star Trek is by the time travel & destroying the vulcan homeworld & romulus.luckily that entire movie is taking place in alternative reality.I will go see it when it arrives this week to my local theater.cause i love the ships & want to see Uhura's sexy counterpart..

true...destroyng vulcan and romulus makes a lot of things different. No vulcan..so maybe no tuvok on voyager. Or since romulus was destroyed...you gotta assume remus was also destroyed..meaning no clone of picard..meaning no battle between the federation and remans...thus..data is still alive...
