I love the fact that this is basically a stock 3.0 Maxima, it has stock Nissan 3.5 cams, and a stock DEK set up. Only thing aftermarket is basic intake, exhaust, and clutch/flywheel. Shows the power a VQ, imagine this with some juice or boost :)

Cams are 260 deg duration and 10.89mm lift (0.429"). Stock were 232 and 8 mm.

Well, everything I stated is 100% true. There's no juice or boost. Lots of people at the track would come up and say the same thing to me but it's 100% true and they'd see it for themselves looking under the hood. People just can't believe it's that fast N/A I suppose...

The shipping would be fairly costly on something heavy like that I imagine. But you should be able to get the same tranny locally, it also came in the Infiniti I30 if I'm not mistaken... look around for 5-spd versions of those...

Thanks, but no, it's the stock 5-spd VLSD tranny that came with the car (it's a 98).

Yes, in May it was dyno'd on a DynoJet248 and put down 270 hp to the wheels. (roughly 315 at the crank)

Yeah they are a lot lighter than you'd think for their size, and the manual tranny has decently close ratios & short FD which helps.

I wasn't implying you had crap speakers.. only IF you happened to, since I didn't know. I am running a 5.1 surround system myself. Anyways, sound is subjective big time, and you'll just have to take my word for it but it doesn't sound the same in person, remember it's still recorded off a bare bones camcorder mic. Have you seen the video of the car idling (the part 2 one), how does that sound to you?

Bottom line is I'd sacrifice some sound for a mid 12 sec car anyway. What do you drive btw?

yeah most 5.1 you see , especially for computers, color the sound and are not flat response curve. I will argue about anything all day... :) lol anyway, Ill check your other vid, I'm not dising you 12 second ccar, just noticing it soudns dif than other vq30de by a wide margin, I wish I had 13sec car, I have a lexus es 5spd, ......

My 5.1 is the top of the line THX Logitech, dunno how that compares to most but it seems decent. Or I can also put it through my Denon 7.1 home theatre also. But I'm no audio expert though.

So have you taken your ES to the track at all?

As for my car's sound another thing is that it's basically open exhaust you hear, but on the street with everything closed up and it going through the cat and the muffler it's more normal sounding.

Nope, neither. As it says in the video, it is completely naturally aspirated. ;) It is cammed though with an extended redline.

It's an all aluminum, 3 liter, 60 degree V6.. hard to make those sound great, but it does sound a lot better in person than over the tin can of the internet, especially if you only have a couple crappy speakers or a laptop. Plus the camcorder mic is just the built in one, not like it's really a good mic.

The 3.5L should sound a lot better once it's in the car.
