What people don't understand is, that there has been crooked politics for thousands of years! starting in ancient rome.
To think that a politician is going to look out for you just out of the goodness of his heart is crazy. Politicians ALWAYS put the self-interest first ALWAYS, they're only human.
You just have to hope that you're on their side, not them on yours.
I wish Congressman Paul were still in the race, but unfortunately, the powers that be (the corp. that put on the debates, the ruling elite, etc.) have pushed out the voice of the people. But don't compromise your liberties and ideals for anyone.
Oh yes, I did see that interview. And it sickens me that he said it with his big "used car salesman" smile. What a slimeball. I've told Obama campaigners about that interview and they were shocked that he could say such a thing. If only CNN would show that to their supporters. But ultimately, it is the responsibility of We the People to inform others of these politicians' intentions. Stay strong.
You know we have 4 third parties right? Consitution party, Nader, Green Party and Libertarian. Either of them are vastly better than McCain and Obama...
Obama belonged to a racist church for 20 years. His mentor and pastor of 20 years-Jeremiah Wright-is an anti-American bigot. Wright has called him a great leader.
From how Obama expresses himself & how he distanced himself from Mr. Wright without starting a riot, he showed his ability to deal calmly with inflamable issues. That is an invaluable ability.Obama was working to help his community, so maybe going to this church was a way to have some positive effect. Have you ever been the calm voice in a crowd of hotheads? It's not easy, but some people have an instinct to be there to quietly add balance.
I just found Obama's explanation for support of the FISA bill which is being misrepresented here as a flip flop on civil liberties. He said the bill's target should not be the phone companies' culpability, but "can we get to the bottom of what's taking place, and do we have safeguards?" Obama avoids the WRONG fight. Please look clearly before you dump the baby out with the bathwater folks.Fighting the WRONG fight is for loosers.
I completely agree with you. I've been trying to express this by quoting Obama verbatim from his adress as to why he voted for the FISA amendment and still people refuse to listen that it was a smart move. Being a leader means sometimes you have to make unpopular decisions for the good of the country--like opposing the Iraq war.
Part of the unpopularity can also stem from not having the time to grow a second brain to think like a lawyer. The FISA bill is a horse tranquiliser to me. I do trust Obama and his explanation is logical. I have watched very closely, and his way of dealing with conflict is like a watchmaker. He doesn't use a sledgehammer, he respects each piece and finds the right place for it.There are great talents on all sides of the aisle, and I think he will bring them together the best way.
Obama is not what where looking for. America in just not ready for an African American president. If you really are looking for the best choice, McCain is you man. Although most of the people watching this are Democrats.
By your argument, I don't think we were "ready for slavery" either back when America chose that route. But I do think we are ready for any color president you want to find with half a brain, because Bush, McCain, &/or palin don't add up to a pinhead of sense.
atleast mccain gives us the "straight talk". everyone knows Mccain's GOP wants the rich capitalists to be richer and the poor to beat the crap out of eachother and stay opressed. But the democrats ,like nader says, are not a proper opposition right now and while the people stay silent and apathetic both parties runoff with their own agenda. DEmocrats are just deceiving the good willed people by flip flopping every week until election day and by then they have the same agenda as the GOP. BS!
Still, having the same party in power for 12 years is going to be shit. We might as well at least switch parties this time, so the GOP doesn't get to spend too much time with their fucked up agenda.
agreed. if bush werent in office America prob wouldnt have destroyed and displaced millions of lives in iraq. I dont think a democrat in the oil business would have exploited the congress as much as bush did to bomb and invade iraq for lower oil prices. But, since the Democrats continue to aid israel to help them fight the war on "terror" i have to vote for compromise and not war so my independent vote goes to NAder.
That's because Lieberman is still there and so is Bush, who vetoes every good thing that they will try to do. If we had a president who is actually relatively intelligent and actually on our side, then they could start fixing things.
wake up buddy, the democrats do not actually want to change anything about the system, they like it just the way it is. Sure, once in a while they'll give you a candidate harping on about 'change' and all that but hey I've heard that so many times already I stopped believing.
A revolution would be a better idea, or term limits.
I guess the president makes all the decisions? Wrong you can thank the democratic Senate and Congress for the mess over the last 4 years. But most people over look that fact and want to play the blame game and put it on the republicans. I personaly cant wait for osama to get in office. So all of our taxes go up and our economy will drop even worse. I can;t stand listening to the lies that come out of his mouth and yet he has the vast majority of america fooled...
Sorry Kride, but you are off by 2 years. The democrats won the majority of seats in 2006. So you are overlooking 2 years in your own biased partisan blame game.Republicans and democrats need a leader who listens to both sides and assimilates practical solutions instead of just throwing bones to his cronies like we have seen the last 8 years. You think this is a wait and see game of watching one side or the other fail? Hello, it's US that are failing.
Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. I hope things won't be too difficult for you to get through your circumstances. As for convincing, I had some friends who were loving Obama's little "change" circus show so I would send them videos showing the true side of his agendas. I would also meet up them them to discuss his true nature for his decision making. But the real kicker was when he voted yes on the FISA bill. Bam! It was locked in. They're freedom-loving Americans that couldn't believe their ears.
Hey Ross, you picked the one issue that would alienate me from Obama, but my gut feeling is Nader needs a role in government and should not be running against either wing, he should be a GIVEN. Splitting the vote is not a short term solution, and the choice between McCain and Obama presents stark compromises that should not be left to chance.Voting for Nader is cosmetic & the patient could die.Nader needs a DIFFERENT way into the system. He's earned it.
Hey, Sazzy! Are you married? I'm a single guy and every time I read your comments I like you more and more. You rock! Keep up the comments and get the word out. I convinced a lot of my friends to go Nader in 2008!
well don't you think a vote for Nader is just cause McCain to get in im not saying your wrong and i do like some of Nader's issues especially after the isriel thing but if it means i have end up with McCain cause im upset with something Obama did or said then im not really winning. i wish obama could take nader as a cabnet member or running mate. You do got to be honest about one thing theres not enough hard left people out there for a far left president to properly represent america.
I'm only voting for the candidate who I feel stands for my very ideals and principles. Obama and McCain do not stand for what I believe is right. Therefore I will not support them, no many how many times you hear the dems turn into crybabies over past elections. Did you know there were millions of voters who didn't vote in 2004? I don't even know anybody who voted for Bush! They don't want a 3rd party candidate, they only want the old "good cop/bad cop" routine. Different strategy, same results.
Aussie - it is much more than just one very important vote. Obama said he will leave up to 50,000 troops in Iraq, he will "redeploy" 10's of thousands of troops to Afghanistan, he says nuclear power is on the table but will not support impeachment of Bush war criminals, and he now supports off shore drilling. Just to name a few more issues he and McCain agree on.
He wears the flip-flop suit as well as his empty suit, looking good in both. lol! How nice, we will have a good looking president the youth can be proud of, he's cool and black! Geez people, don't ya think our next president should know what the hell he is doing instead of just claiming to know!?! Nobama PLEASE!
Barak is a sacred Arabic Muslim name; it is the name of the MAGIC FLYING HORSE that FLEW prophet Mohamed of Islam one night from Mecca to Jerusalem, then high up to the 7th SKY where he met GOD and all his prophets, then flew back to Mecca in few hours.
This is the name which the true muslim Hussein Obama of Kenya gave to his first born muslim son Barak Hussein Obama.
Do not just discard this story, check it with any Muslim you may know, they all believe it is 100% true.
The NWO polluted the environmnet for a number of reasons. To create a global enemy so that we all unite under one order to "solve" this environment problem. Also to destroy food supplies so that they control the working food supplies, just like they killed off the indian food supply and forced the indians off the land.....it is really no different.....get ready for your chip implant. Obama/Mccain...are the same.
Want to fight FISA and get FREE phone service? It's simple. Just act like a loon over the phone to the phone company as you complain about your phone bill. Throw in a few idle threats, nothing serious. They'll listen in to keep "informed" while you feed 'em bs. The feds won't let the phone companies cut you off!
Free phone service for everone! Take that AT&T you bastards!
That's exactly right. Hillary would have voted yes, had she been running. The only reason she didn't is because she knew the bill would pass anyway, and to make herself look good. Obama sees how much scrutiny is on him now for that vote, so we can only sit back and watch if this kind of thing continues or not.
i heard her on c-span today at the green party convention. She was absolutely great. I think I would much rather vote for her if she is the candidate than barr, but i will have to see if shes going to be on the ballot, and i will have to see where she stands on the issues, but im gonna look her up and see more of her.
C'mon, don't tell me anybody was actually surprised at Obama's betrayal of civil liberties voters. If his promises had been genuine, he would have been "Gravelled" a long time ago. His campaign has never been anything more than vague but charismatic assurances of change, backed up with great advertising and a toothy grin. He's the Democratic Mitt Romney.
I don't want to have to vote for Bob Barr, but you're pushing me Barack...You are really pushing me.
I wonder how many Obama supporters who refuse to believe that Obama is just another politician who ends up lying are left. I say over 85% still refuses to open their eyes. Obama supporters are the smart ones right? It's smart to close both eyes and ears if you dont want to know the truth. Great job Obama supporters. Good luck on getting the Clinton supporters on your side now. But hey, some Obama supporters say that Obama doesnt need Clinton supporters, so, yyyeeeeaaahhhh, good luck with that.
hahaha....too funny... obama and his promises...NONE to be had. he tells them lies and they just kind of stare at him with blank eyes. I wonder how many will now see that he's nothing more than a man that will do and say ANYTHING to get power.
Of course Democrats should act like Republicans...Republicans have it right on most fiscal, political, and security issues. Fiscal especially, but other stuff too.
This is spot on (although as someone else pointed out Gore did not lose)
I wish we had a real fiery FDR type Democrat, oh well, if I shut my eyes tightly and try not to gag maybe I can imagine its really Kucinich I am voting for.
Obama is not president yet, therefore he had to vote for it. Look at what is going on with Iran and their missles. IF he didn't vote for it it would have been passed anyways. Keep in mind that other Democrats in congress voted for it, so DONT ELECT THEM IN YOUR STATES AGAIN>
finally something on obama. thought you guys might've forgot about him when you didnt do anything on reverand wright. man that would've been hilarious
I agree! He fell on his damn face with this one. I knew he would. Now if the sheep would just wake up, they would find out that he is no better than McCain!
He didn't do what they wanted. I think its sad that the media is spining this FISA thng like it's no one business when in actuality unless you've got Al Qaieda on speed dial they could care less. We should reall be concerened with the John Warner defense Act that Bush passed last Fall
your wrong...the fisa story is hardly spoken of at all.... I have to do thorrough searches just to find something on it....its almost like a freaking cover up.
I hear Will Smith is going to do a movie/biograpy about the Obama family . He was the only one that had big enough ears for the job . The special effects guys couldnt even help . They got Oprah Winfrey for Michelle and Im not sure whos playing the kids Slappy and Ferret . Theyer going to call it "The Colored Purple" yes that right you heard it here first !
Vote for Obama he is slightly less authoritarian than the other guy! Seriously WTF that bill is a POS. Obama is supposed to be a constitutional scholar. XD
Barack Obama is the best politician money can buy. He has perfected his skills of lying to a fine art. Congratulations to him, for his beautiful deception.
Ron Paul was the guy to go with. He has never flip flopped on the constitution. Go research it. Obamas gonna, er just has let every one down just like the rest.
His impersonations are never the best, really. Lieberman and Matthews are hysterical, though. Even Giuliani is funny, but still doesn't sound a damn thing like him.
My biggest peeve is the O'Reilly impression. As much as I enjoy the content of Headzup, that one impression is pretty lame.
Seriously.....whats the difference between a democrat & a republican these days? They both don't uphold the constitution & the rule of law. Vote them all out!
If America was smart, they would look to vote for a candidate from the Green, Libertarian, or Constitution Parties ... someone who is more likely to look out for the interests of the Middle Class. Instead, this country is brainwashed into thinking your only choice is between a Republican or Democrat. And our current system pretty much guarantees that either a Republican or Democrat will always occupy the White House.
LMFAO 9% approval rating, 70% increase in gasoline just since the Dems took office in
'2007, and we just keep asking for more change this whole thing is a joke, If you or I had a 9% approval rating at our jobs, we'd be terminated. Soon there will be a Predisdent in office that will sign everything that these idiots stick in front of him. "GOD HELP US ALL"
Holy shit! Hedzup finally realized that Obama is not a saint. thank you. both McCain and Obama suck because neither know what the fuck the constitution is...
"It's sad when people worry about Republicans not acting Republican, and Democrats not acting Democratic, while not seeing that it's American's not acting American."
...and maybe ignoring the will of the American people as well.
I seriously dont understand why Americans think Republicans and Democrats are two different things at all.
This same Obama guy goes around calling Iran a "threat" á-la George Bush, to "obliterate it" if necessary, and to apply tougher sanctions on it, as if castrating the efforts and dreams of those beautiful Iranians - who I remind Mr. Obama are human beings -, would be a harmless political game, even when the same lies killed half a million Iraqi children thanks to Clinton in the 90s.
I thought it important to reiterate what Gavinvox68 said: Barack Obama is a 3rd bush term, but so is McCain.
It's sad when people worry about Republicans not acting Republican, and Democrats not acting Democratic, while not seeing that it's American's not acting American.
Don't buy Obama's emotional but empty dribble, and don't expect any sort of backbone from either candidate, they are both going to do exactly what they are told to.
Glad to see some criticism of Obama on Headzup. I originally supported Ron Paul, and then decided to support Obama as the lesser of 2 evils when it became painfully obvious that Paul wasn't electable. I have to say this is a huge disappointment to Obama supporters for a candidate that said he would filibuster this legislation, then decided to support it ... terming it a "compromise". Shame on Obama and the Democrats who were bribed into supporting this bill.
i supported paul as well, but only on foreign policy and his stance on civil liberties. I never fell for obama and his rhetoric, but his latest stances "moving to the centre" made me positive i cannot vote for him in november. Nader isnt on the ballot in my state, and if he isnt on the ballot in november, i think ill vote for barr. But this was a 'deal breaker' with obama for me, and if he doesnt respect the constitution and his own word, hes not getting my vote.
I'm a Paul guy too. Now that his campaign is over, I feel all dressed up with nowhere to go. One thing's for sure, I will never vote for a mainstream Dem or Rep ever again. With either option, you're going to have to compromise one set of freedoms to keep another. All you're doing is choosing which flavor of authoritarianism you prefer, personal or economic. The illusion of choice is preserved but state power is unimpeded and the "right" of government to threaten or force goes unchallenged.
idk... maybe a lack of foresight or complete understanding? The FISA Bill granted 'civil' immunity, not 'criminal'... they can still be tried in criminal court.
Passing FISA allows for Obama's (god forbid mccain's) appointed Attorney General to investigate the crimes. without it... there would not be any investigation.
In this sense... It's a good thing FISA passed. Obama's ability to make the best possible decision in a bad situation earns him some credit... in my opinion.
I'm sure they read the bill ESPECIALLY Feingold. Most of the claims are for money & thus would be civil cases not for criminal cases as the company itself would not be penalized on a certain few individuals. Losing profits speaks louder to a company than losing a individual to jail. Not to mention Obama said in February, he would filibuster ANY bill which included immunity and NOW said it was a good compromise. It's any wonder Democrats are unable to win elections. They are seen as spineless.
The problem lies with being a senator this remains the single biggest reason why senators have a hard time getting elected. They often end up voting for bills due to compromises. Everything stillshotprod stated is correct. BTW this video was far from representing the facts.
I understand your frustration and I definitely understand how this looks.
Let me ask you this: Would you rather have a President that is willing to compromise for the greater good or one that is too thick headed to admit his rashness based on an under-educated opinion?
"Losing profits speaks louder to a company than losing a individual to jail"... I completely agree with this statement. That is why I have switched my services to Quest and I encourage others to do the same.
What I don't understand is HOW in God's name is this for the greater good? What makes him look even worse is that before he said he would not support any form with immunity and now he does. It just makes him look like spineless and a flip-flopper which affects his votes with independents. Obama is losing his lustre of not being the typical politician. Even Hillary Clinton voted No.
How do you know Quest won't do the same thing Cingular Wireless and Verizon did?
I suppose I'm just more optimistic than most. The bigger issue is securing the possibility of CRIMINAL prosecution. The only way to keep Bush from preemptively/retroactively pardoning the cronies involved is to begin impeachment proceedings. If enough people call Nancy Pelosi (202-225-0100) then maybe she'll pull her head out of her ass and begin the impeachment. Impeachment doesn't actually need to be completed for Bush's right of pardoning to be removed, it just needs to be started.
As for knowing whether Quest will do the same as Cingular and Verizon.... I don't know. I can only hope that if enough people give Quest their business because of their stance.... their profits will speak louder than an order from the President.
You call them crooks, but then you say there's no bribing involved? Sure, there's bribing involved. Repubs and Democrats are equally as guilty. If people were smart, they wouldn't support either one, but people haven't quite figured that out yet. Your little "grow up" comment was unnecessary. Fuck you!
wait wait hold on a minute-that doesnt make it okay to vote for. It STILL immunises telecoms for lawbreaking and legitimises the persidents lawbreaking!
Its NOT a good thing this bill passed. Obama not only went against his own word when he voted for cloture on this bill but he also voted against the 4th amendment when he voted for this bill.
I cite glenn greenwald and the aclu's arguments to support my claims.
The 4th amendment isnt something you can "compromise" with as you discard it
Feingold himself said this was a COMPLETE capitulation. Kit Bond-R, from MO or KS can't remember, said this is better than even the White House could have hoped for. With Democrats having a majority in the Senate, it's no surprise as they never stand up for what they believe in. Which is why they lose elections consistently.
gore actually won his election, the gop just stole it. kerry might have won, i don't know. and obama definitely won.

They're freedom-loving Americans that couldn't believe their ears.
ross1323 3 years ago
Hey Ross, you picked the one issue that would alienate me from Obama, but my gut feeling is Nader needs a role in government and should not be running against either wing, he should be a GIVEN. Splitting the vote is not a short term solution, and the choice between McCain and Obama presents stark compromises that should not be left to chance.Voting for Nader is cosmetic & the patient could die.Nader needs a DIFFERENT way into the system. He's earned it.
VJnumber1 3 years ago
Hey, Sazzy! Are you married? I'm a single guy and every time I read your comments I like you more and more. You rock! Keep up the comments and get the word out. I convinced a lot of my friends to go Nader in 2008!
ross1323 3 years ago
well don't you think a vote for Nader is just cause McCain to get in im not saying your wrong and i do like some of Nader's issues especially after the isriel thing but if it means i have end up with McCain cause im upset with something Obama did or said then im not really winning. i wish obama could take nader as a cabnet member or running mate. You do got to be honest about one thing theres not enough hard left people out there for a far left president to properly represent america.
arabrockerman 3 years ago
I'm only voting for the candidate who I feel stands for my very ideals and principles. Obama and McCain do not stand for what I believe is right. Therefore I will not support them, no many how many times you hear the dems turn into crybabies over past elections. Did you know there were millions of voters who didn't vote in 2004? I don't even know anybody who voted for Bush! They don't want a 3rd party candidate, they only want the old "good cop/bad cop" routine. Different strategy, same results.

VOTE Nader/Gonzalez
RedStarRevolver26 3 years ago 3
Aussie - it is much more than just one very important vote. Obama said he will leave up to 50,000 troops in Iraq, he will "redeploy" 10's of thousands of troops to Afghanistan, he says nuclear power is on the table but will not support impeachment of Bush war criminals, and he now supports off shore drilling. Just to name a few more issues he and McCain agree on.
Support Ralph Nader!

This is the name which the true muslim Hussein Obama of Kenya gave to his first born muslim son Barak Hussein Obama.

That's exactly right. Hillary would have voted yes, had she been running. The only reason she didn't is because she knew the bill would pass anyway, and to make herself look good. Obama sees how much scrutiny is on him now for that vote, so we can only sit back and watch if this kind of thing continues or not.

MystikWizard 3 years ago 9
i supported paul as well, but only on foreign policy and his stance on civil liberties.
RationalLiberty 3 years ago 7
I'm a Paul guy too. Now that his campaign is over, I feel all dressed up with nowhere to go. One thing's for sure, I will never vote for a mainstream Dem or Rep ever again. With either option, you're going to have to compromise one set of freedoms to keep another. All you're doing is choosing which flavor of authoritarianism you prefer, personal or economic. The illusion of choice is preserved but state power is unimpeded and the "right" of government to threaten or force goes unchallenged.

BARACK OBAMA IS A 3RD BUSH TERM

Hugothedog5 3 years ago
obviously you don't understand the concept of polarized bills.
Obama voted for the amendment that would separate the immunity section from the original bill... to be voted on later. the amendment was voted down.
Obama actually voted for all three amendments.
Unfortunately, he had to vote for the bad (immunity)... in order to vote for the greater good (re-instating the FISA Courts)
Polarization of HB's are very common... unfortunately
stillshotprod 3 years ago
Then if that is the case, why did Feingold, Clinton, and others vote against it? Democrats have the majority and that STILL is not enough?
rakrobn 3 years ago
idk... maybe a lack of foresight or complete understanding? The FISA Bill granted 'civil' immunity, not 'criminal'... they can still be tried in criminal court.
Passing FISA allows for Obama's (god forbid mccain's) appointed Attorney General to investigate the crimes. without it... there would not be any investigation.
In this sense... It's a good thing FISA passed. Obama's ability to make the best possible decision in a bad situation earns him some credit... in my opinion.
stillshotprod 3 years ago
I'm sure they read the bill ESPECIALLY Feingold. Most of the claims are for money & thus would be civil cases not for criminal cases as the company itself would not be penalized on a certain few individuals. Losing profits speaks louder to a company than losing a individual to jail. Not to mention Obama said in February, he would filibuster ANY bill which included immunity and NOW said it was a good compromise. It's any wonder Democrats are unable to win elections. They are seen as spineless.
rakrobn 3 years ago
The problem lies with being a senator this remains the single biggest reason why senators have a hard time getting elected. They often end up voting for bills due to compromises. Everything stillshotprod stated is correct. BTW this video was far from representing the facts.
glddraco 3 years ago
I understand your frustration and I definitely understand how this looks.
Let me ask you this: Would you rather have a President that is willing to compromise for the greater good or one that is too thick headed to admit his rashness based on an under-educated opinion?
"Losing profits speaks louder to a company than losing a individual to jail"... I completely agree with this statement. That is why I have switched my services to Quest and I encourage others to do the same.
stillshotprod 3 years ago
What I don't understand is HOW in God's name is this for the greater good? What makes him look even worse is that before he said he would not support any form with immunity and now he does. It just makes him look like spineless and a flip-flopper which affects his votes with independents. Obama is losing his lustre of not being the typical politician. Even Hillary Clinton voted No.
How do you know Quest won't do the same thing Cingular Wireless and Verizon did?
rakrobn 3 years ago 3
Not to mention, this is not a compromise. In the words of Feingold, this is a capitulation.
rakrobn 3 years ago 3
I suppose I'm just more optimistic than most. The bigger issue is securing the possibility of CRIMINAL prosecution. The only way to keep Bush from preemptively/retroactively pardoning the cronies involved is to begin impeachment proceedings. If enough people call Nancy Pelosi (202-225-0100) then maybe she'll pull her head out of her ass and begin the impeachment. Impeachment doesn't actually need to be completed for Bush's right of pardoning to be removed, it just needs to be started.
stillshotprod 3 years ago
As for knowing whether Quest will do the same as Cingular and Verizon.... I don't know. I can only hope that if enough people give Quest their business because of their stance.... their profits will speak louder than an order from the President.
stillshotprod 3 years ago
I'm curious how much bribing and threatening was done to all the Democrats who voted this way?
MystikWizard 3 years ago
No bribing. The Democrats are just crooks and liars. You still haven't figured that out? Grow up.
sajorojas 3 years ago
You call them crooks, but then you say there's no bribing involved? Sure, there's bribing involved. Repubs and Democrats are equally as guilty. If people were smart, they wouldn't support either one, but people haven't quite figured that out yet. Your little "grow up" comment was unnecessary. Fuck you!
MystikWizard 3 years ago
wait wait hold on a minute-that doesnt make it okay to vote for.
The 4th amendment isnt something you can "compromise" with as you discard it
RationalLiberty 3 years ago 3
Feingold himself said this was a COMPLETE capitulation. Kit Bond-R, from MO or KS can't remember, said this is better than even the White House could have hoped for. With Democrats having a majority in the Senate, it's no surprise as they never stand up for what they believe in. Which is why they lose elections consistently.
