the first game was an RPG, in ME2 they took away most of the RPG elements and replaced them with more "run & gun" gameplay
the first game also had way more exploration,
i mean who preferes scanning a planet for resources and the occasional anomaly, over landing on an uncharted alien world with a rover and exploring it.

@hogge87 In ME1 your teammates wore armor aswell and just like any RPG, there were different kinds of armor with different stats and color. The Collosus and Predator armors were pretty cool aswell as the 3 special armors for Wrex (Krogan).
In case you didn't know, Jack Wall is leaving BioWare, and Clint Mansell will make the soundtrack for Mass Effect 3 :( I want you guys to rate this up and post it on every BioWAre video in hope that he reads it.

HALO is simply nothing compared to the Mass Effect games. Though HALO looks ok its story is lame, Mass effect makes you feel like you're actually in the game.
@SoulCryptix I disagree. Both have fantastic universes, Halo's story is deep, dark and is just as full of mysteries as Mass Effect's. Both are simply divine in my books. Why does it always have to be competition between games? Is it not possible for people to accept that they're both great?

There are better games. At least your choices have a meaning in the old school RPGs. The adventure you travel through is the same in Mass Effect as thousands of players have. Your choices doesn't govern who Sheppard really is or who you are. It doesn't bring up much depth or gameplay and your action have no meaning in Mass Effect.

If there was a totally realistic game, with 'all' the sounds recorded, 'all' the cutscenes rendered, 'all' the scripts written, and 'all' the faces and body textures and shaders... uh, my head started to spin to think into all this.
Summa summarum: such game would eat up all your hardware, especially videocard, ram and HDD. And also such game is impossible to make.
I bought ME2 3 months ago and every time I talk to Garrus and he always has to do calibrations on his magic fridge or some shit. So I beat ME2 and popped in ME1 because I haven't played in for a while and bam! Couldn't put the damn controller down for a minute, the game is just too damn addicting.

@Jaffell Well, here's the thing. Mass Effect's story is massively variable depending on the actions of the player, more so than the vast majority of games. The state of the universe at the beginning of Mass Effect 2 is MASSIVELY changed depending on your actions in the first one, and the Default Starting Character has a lot of stuff missing. I highly recommend playing the first one first and then carrying over that character to the second one.
@KevinLuhrs I choose which ever I like more, so I kinda have equal renegade and paragon ( with a little bit more paragon) but in me2, I'm in my second playthrough, and I am very Renegade.
@Kekkon3n This trailer's full of minor spoilers. Saren being evil is a spoiler, kinda. Sovereign speaking at all is a spoiler. "I am the vanguard of your destruction" is a minor spoiler. Footage from the final battle scenes at the Citadel are DEFINITELY spoilers. So meh.
@Crumplepunch Ya, but they don't show him (Sovereign) or anything and it sounds like a random threat. And yea Saren was a bad dude, but his motifs and part in the attack are quite vaque in this trailer. The meeting with the Sovereign was epic tho :)
I can't say I love this game, I started playing yesterday, after finishing Assassin's Creed II, i don't know.. the storyline seems interesting, but game-play wise I am not sure what to think, maybe I am just not an RPG guy.
Mass Effect has the greatest trailers ever. I'm just waiting for it to say, "In theaters everywhere" at the end haha. This game is boss; can't wait for number 3

I disagree, I think Mass Effect 2's story was better. ME 1 was just the introduction, 2 is obviously the darker side to the story, with breathtaking moments and phenominal twists in the plot.
Personally I finished ME1 5 times, ME2 2 times only & I don't have the drive to do it again. I even played ME1 again after ME2. There are stuff that are better in ME2, but there are setbacks compared to ME1 aswell, like bullet types being skills suddenly (made no sense to me) instead of being ammo upgrades like it was in ME1 (which was perfect) as an example. It's all subjective of course.
Uhm, is Mass Effect 1 supposed to be uhm...so slow? Cause it takes so long before the game starts, and if i close the window than reopen it that takes some time too. And if i change resolution window it takes some time too. Is is supposed to be like that? Cause its not like that in my Mass Effect 2
I never thought as paragon and renegade as good and evil. I thought of more as, being the human race's greatest hero, or the greatest badass. Taking down saren could of been a heroic act or a act of badassery. Either way it gets the job done, and people go about buisness different ways.
the beginning dont have much action, but the story locks your attention, then after u get stronger the action start to rocks, u have to choose partners to save, friends to help, laws to break, u can be a bad ass here.
and the story rolls perfectly amazing until the very last minute. (specially in the last minutes)
Best RPG and a damn good third person game. 9.5/10 Didn't reach perfection 'cause a few bugs, nothing serious, but may annoy you if you play lots of time/character

ive only just played about an hour or two into this game and i cannot believe how incredible it is!! the dialogue is so well acted and the response choices are simply incredible. the combat system is so-so but damn, its worth playing through for this amazing story!
i disagree,ME2 is better than ME from most points of view. they focused less on the main story and more on the gameplay, but the main story was already good from ME1,they just revealed a bit more after that in the sequel. i think ME2 is the best game i've ever played.
it is simply epic :D! BUT a bit too short on the story. i needed 40 hours for clearing the game once - with all subquests - on the normal difficulty level. the second time i spend around 30 hours on HARD. my point is: they ve been developing ME 2 for two years and all you get is around 40 hours gaming time. A game like ME 2 should have at least 70 hours - 100 maximum, below that i think it s just a waste of time and money. they could have worked a lot more out.
Both Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 are amazing , in terms of combat Me2 is better but this Intro ..Seeing as Shepard walks across the Normandy with the awsome music in the background its just epic !!! Mass Effect's 2 intro is not as good as this one .

@Denny2669 ME2 was way to short. 20 missions roughly and its finished. 16 missions for the companions and maybe 4 must-do story missions.
I really hope they make ME3 2x as big as ME1+2. I beat ME2 in less then a day when just doing the missions.
There needs to be a LOT more story. ME2 basically ends when u got all 8 companions. It should START when you get all 8 imo.

Would this game be required to have played in order to play the second one, or do you not really need to know the first game's story to play the second?

I'd recommend playing Mass Effect first, since you can "continue" in Mass Effect 2 from a Mass Effect 1 save file.

@Jaffell Well, here's the thing. Mass Effect's story is massively variable depending on the actions of the player, more so than the vast majority of games. The state of the universe at the beginning of Mass Effect 2 is MASSIVELY changed depending on your actions in the first one, and the Default Starting Character has a lot of stuff missing. I highly recommend playing the first one first and then carrying over that character to the second one.

@Crumplepunch Ya, but they don't show him (Sovereign) or anything and it sounds like a random threat. And yea Saren was a bad dude, but his motifs and part in the attack are quite vaque in this trailer. The meeting with the Sovereign was epic tho :)

I can't say I love this game, I started playing yesterday, after finishing Assassin's Creed II, i don't know.. the storyline seems interesting, but game-play wise I am not sure what to think, maybe I am just not an RPG guy.

I disagree, I think Mass Effect 2's story was better. ME 1 was just the introduction, 2 is obviously the darker side to the story, with breathtaking moments and phenominal twists in the plot.

Personally I finished ME1 5 times, ME2 2 times only & I don't have the drive to do it again. I even played ME1 again after ME2. There are stuff that are better in ME2, but there are setbacks compared to ME1 aswell, like bullet types being skills suddenly (made no sense to me) instead of being ammo upgrades like it was in ME1 (which was perfect) as an example. It's all subjective of course.

Uhm, is Mass Effect 1 supposed to be uhm...so slow? Cause it takes so long before the game starts, and if i close the window than reopen it that takes some time too. And if i change resolution window it takes some time too. Is is supposed to be like that? Cause its not like that in my Mass Effect 2

I never thought as paragon and renegade as good and evil. I thought of more as, being the human race's greatest hero, or the greatest badass. Taking down saren could of been a heroic act or a act of badassery. Either way it gets the job done, and people go about buisness different ways.

the beginning dont have much action, but the story locks your attention, then after u get stronger the action start to rocks, u have to choose partners to save, friends to help, laws to break, u can be a bad ass here.
and the story rolls perfectly amazing until the very last minute. (specially in the last minutes)
Best RPG and a damn good third person game. 9.5/10 Didn't reach perfection 'cause a few bugs, nothing serious, but may annoy you if you play lots of time/character

ive only just played about an hour or two into this game and i cannot believe how incredible it is!! the dialogue is so well acted and the response choices are simply incredible. the combat system is so-so but damn, its worth playing through for this amazing story!

i disagree,ME2 is better than ME from most points of view. they focused less on the main story and more on the gameplay, but the main story was already good from ME1,they just revealed a bit more after that in the sequel. i think ME2 is the best game i've ever played.

it is simply epic :D! BUT a bit too short on the story. i needed 40 hours for clearing the game once - with all subquests - on the normal difficulty level. the second time i spend around 30 hours on HARD. my point is: they ve been developing ME 2 for two years and all you get is around 40 hours gaming time. A game like ME 2 should have at least 70 hours - 100 maximum, below that i think it s just a waste of time and money. they could have worked a lot more out.

Both Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 are amazing , in terms of combat Me2 is better but this Intro ..Seeing as Shepard walks across the Normandy with the awsome music in the background its just epic !!! Mass Effect's 2 intro is not as good as this one .
