@IndianCricket619 no you should not stand!! this is because the ball may pitch low and if u miss it, it will go for byes!! and wicket keepers like myself always rise from sitting after the ball pitches as it may bounce low and go through your legs!!! hope this helped.. reply for any more problems..
@ qwetry10113, the wicket keeper is probably the position in cricket that requires the most agility because you have to run and catch and get the batter out.
i don't run as much as the out fielders or even the in fielders for that matter...most of the running i do is when i run to the stumps after the batsman hits the ball off a fast bowler...and jogging to the other end.
but the agility wise...yeah, especially against the spinners...sometimes u r completely blinded and u have to just "guess" where the ball will be
Cricket is appealing to me because it kind of has an "Island" exotic vibe to it. I know it is played all over, but that's my initial feelings when I see ti.
No worries. Try Dukes, Slazenger or Puma - all have velcro wrist ties to keep inners in place. Handy when removing the glove to throw down the wicket. Good luck.
Aren't inner chamois gloves enough to aid your figures...Or would I still need to tape my joints ? I never actually had someone throw the ball towards when I felt my figure would break when I have my gloves on...But I would like to know, just to be safe.
O thank you sooooo much for that, living in Canada and parted from cricket for 8 years I dont really understand the rules, I knew that any runs from a no ball count but did not you can be run out, fair deal though, if they can hit, they can be out out
oooh fair enough, luckily the fielders im with are pretty good and all have strong arms, and wear your own gloves is great advice other peoples never feel quite the same,
Yikes, I don't like the idea of being a wicket-keeper. It's really intense and pressurising, and your expected to be able to bat almost to a speialist level.
im pretty sure that it was a no ball at 1:26

if the keeper catches the ball, isnt the batter out anyway? what's the need for stumping then?
AClumsySheep 9 months ago
@IndianCricket619 sometimes you need to stay down because sometimes balls skid on.
alexczarn 1 year ago
I have tried a bit of keeping and believe me it can be hard!
alexczarn 1 year ago
@IndianCricket619 You want to stay low and follow the ball, so as it rises you rise.

Try padded chamois inners. My choice for the last 10 years. The pads do go a bit flat after a few months though.

Thanks mate...Will give it a shot

wicket keeping is easily the hardest position on the field
englishledge 2 years ago
i've been keeping for over 10 years...It is the hardest spot without any doubt....BUT it is also a spot where i can see all the action
It is probably the best spot to watch cricket from!

Don't forget to tape the joints on your fingers; otherwise you might pop a joint or break a finger.
I know this from painful experience!
HamptonSmall 4 years ago
instead of taping your joints you could just catch the ball properly?
sheepy90 3 years ago
Not on the pitches I play on!
You can't predict everything when you play.
My injury occurred catching a ball from a fielder that bounced funny.
I was advised (after the event) to tape the joints by a county wicket keeper of 22 years experience.
I was also advised to only ever use my own gloves.
But you can break your own fingers if you wish...
