I just bought a TD3 used from a private owner, that used the set for practice, and never used the mix in capabilites. I have the owners manual, and just purchased this set 2 days ago. I just love the sound you had created, and wanted to try it myself. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
MisterMR44 thats some real talent and rhythm right there, really enjoyed listening. I have a question for you. Are you using the mix in 1/8 cable from your microphone jack on your computer to your Roland, or are you using an ipod in your Aux?
Wow! Very nice! Dude you played that tight as hell. You were relaxed and fluid. Total control.
I'm considering and researching the purchase of an electronic drum set. Specifically a Roland. I followed a link to this video that you posted on a drum forum and was really surprised by your talent. This shows me what can be accomplished with the electronic drum sets.
First off.... SWEET. Awesome playin' man! Comin' from a Garibaldi fan here... Second... Where did you get this version of the song? I have the Oakland Zone album, but you're Pocketful of Soul track is longer than on the cd. Was it an itunes dl?
@Eger24724 Thank you for your positive comments Eger24724...! The version of 'Pocketful Of Soul' that I'm playing along to is a completely drumless version that's on the CD that comes with David Garribaldi's 'The Code of Funk' book (highly recommended if you're a DG fan!). And yes, It's longer than the original mix... I guess to give you more to play along to! As far as I know, I don't think this version is available as a download... my guess is it's only available with the book.
@MisterMR44 AH! Of course! The drummer in one of the bands I play with has the book. It's cool to hear Larry's vocals on the extension... Once again, great work!

Holy shit. Nuthin to say bout that but that I have found a new channel for my personal daily refreshment. Thx god I have had off from work early today and signed in to YouTube just for fun.
Man I need to get the right gear to record like you do. . . My crapy recordings sounds really cheapskate compared to your´s. . . Keep it up my friend. . By the way, I play live at the local theatre here in my homecity. . I use my TD-9 and it really kick ass. . sounds amazing! Next weekend will be the last 2 shows. . Great fun! I will uppload a few clips from the show when its all over. . Take care /Hank
Need a piece of advice. I'm 30yo and been into music all my life. i play bass but have allways been into drums as well. Thinkin of gettin the new Td 4 set and takin up drummin. I'm very serious about it. I've played drums on a few occasions but i'm worried it might be to late to start up a new instrument. How many years have you been playin?
I know a few bass players that have taken up playing the drums and are really good drummers! Get the TD-4. You'll love it. And remember, it's never too late to start learning anything!
Great playin. It took me a while to actually figure out the timing of the verses. But it looks like its 12/8 all the way. It's a fun groove to play (not that I could play it :-)). The sort of broken shuffle... Love it. Well done!
I like this big time. But tell me something... it sounds to me like a 6/8 signature but isn't there some "odd time" in there somewhere, something like 5/7 or something? I can't figure out how to count it :)
Hi Herl! The entire song is in 12/8 and is transcribed as such in the book. So yes, you're correct, you can count it as a 6/8 signature and of course, any 6/8 ideas will work across it. I actually find it much easier to approach it if I count it in 4/4 playing 8th note triplets.

Thanks it makes sense. I think I would count it like 4/4 and play triplets over it like you do. It would probably be the easiest way.
