Wow, What a beautiful movement. Extremely hard to believe he composed this when he was only eight years old. This is just as good as a lot of compositions made by composers who are at a mature age. I mean when I was 8, I was playing with playdough and learning how to ride a bicycle. Mozart already had composed a three movement symphony, And not just any symphony but a beautiful one at that.
Unfortunately music is not a public demain in many parts of the world. I hate to pay if I want to sing and if I want to play music- Actually I think it's a crime that we pay when we want to share our favourite music, every kind of music.
it is disappointing that this doesn't get the public recognition that the music of lady gaga and Justin Beiber get i think that all this modern popular music (particularly rap) is rotting away the fabric of orderly society while true and in-depth music such as this does the opposite and promotes orderly society
@McIcarus007 Not true. The music itself is public domain, but this particular recording of the music belongs to a record company, a conductor and an orchestra.
Teachers generally make sure you avoid using parallel fifths during your music theory education because it is deemed improper. However, in your own compositions, it does not matter as it is how you would like it to sound.
Well, in music education, theory especially, teachers try to ensure that students don't use parallel fifths. A fifth is when two notes that are 5 tones from each other, for instance C and G, are play simultaneously. When this is done consecutively, (two different sets of fifths played consecutively), it is called a parallel fifth. As to why it's improper, we'll never know, but leading composers and artist say it so.
@Flish111 My understanding is that post-Bach, there was an attempt to find out why Bach's music sounded so good. He happened to avoid the use of parallel 5ths and octaves, and so music teachers after Bach taught their students not to do that, and it just sorta became a "rule." The development of theory almost always follows practice. If there is a rule, it means someone was doing it, and it was made into a rule post-fact.
@elidontlie Am hello i was being sarcastic! Clrealy you can do what u want in music if u are Mozart but me as a second year college music student.... no I can not if I want my high marks.... maybe it is u who are the retard for replying with such a stupid rude comment!
@PzKpfw Yes, but at the age of eight, certainly his father was still teaching and even correcting him, even though he didn't change the actual composition.
@eppinizer I doubt it; we know for a fact that Mozart absolutely could compose music of this level at this age, and he was also quite renowned for being a great improvisateur. Maybe his father helped him with some theoretical technicalities when it came to writing down this symphony (doubt that too, though - young Wolfgang knew his theory) but I don't think the eight year old Mozart would need help composing this. He was after all one of the greatest child prodigies ever in the history of music.
@moltoallegro19 That is fair enough, I just find it hard to believe that a father, who was a composer himself, could resist the temptation to help his eight year-old son. For instance, if his father felt his son's first symphony was poorly constructed, I bet he wouldn't let it be released until he felt it was more adequate. Not every moment of Mozart's life was recorded, so we can only speculate what could of occurred behind the scenes.
Your point that Mozart COULD compose this music is valid.
@eppinizer Oh, but this music is rather simple in its structure, I don't find it hard to believe at all that he wrote this when he was 8. If one study the music he writes later, around 12 (where we are certain that his father did not help), one see no reason to mistrust the authenticity of his earlier works. I mean, we have prodigies today writing music at this age, still Mozart is speculated to have been THE child prodigy of the history of music.
@moltoallegro19 It is easy to doubt an 8-year-old wrote this by himself, I know. If you doubt it you should listen to more Mozart and read more about him. Leopold mentions in his writings that he, on occasions, helped Wolfgang compose a little when he was around four, but it is most unlikely that Mozart still needed help four years later.
@eppinizer hey search youtube for Emily bear.. she is 6 years old and compose amazing music and improvise.. doesn't make sense I know but that is what is meant by prodigy
a genius, but his father too was a genius who made great composition, without his father mozart was nothing, there is similarity in the piece of mozart young and the composition of his father, but after 14 years old he was really accomplish by the experience. respect to Amadeus and Leopold mozart.
A case like Mozart often makes me question the ironic "destiny" we sometimes see in life--he lived younger than many, if not all, of the great composers, yet he composed more music than any of them! And with what impeccable skill! I don't care what anyone else thinks; if God didn't have a say in this, then I'd like to see you compose a symphony this beautiful at the age of 8. And the last piece he wrote was a bloody requiem! What are the odds!
Absolutely genius! I remember listening to this piece when i was still in college. Someone told me that classical musics increase our IQ, guess what, i nailed my exam A!
The work shows the influence of several composers, including his father and the sons of Johann Sebastian Bach, especially Johann Christian Bach, an important early symphonist working in London whom Mozart had met during his time there.
