@Punkid41 1) try and spell your name right. It is Punk Kid 41. 2) you called him a 16 yr old punk kid. A) So what if he is. He has a right to voice his opinions and they were a damn sight clearer and more valid than yours. B) your screen name is punkid41 so essentially what you have done there is insulted yourself. 3) Please do enlighten us, What is the Big, Big, Big Picture? I am guessing it is of your mothers arse. Thankyou and good night.
I think largehoman is an idiot who doesn't know what he's saying. He sounds like. 16 yr old punk rock kid who's trying to sound like he knows what's going on. It doesn't make sense till u look at the big big big picture
this is imo, but i believe this song is stating that the government targets the young, poor, and starving citizens of the country to fight their war. they do so by supplying them with food and shelter and money, not much money mind you, the rich are the ones getting wealthy off the fighting while the poor are dying for practically minimum wage. however this does not justify the poor. they are fighting for someone elses beliefs for a quick buck and it is a shame they do so, thats what i think
For anyone who is confused by the title or content of this song, it is a tongue-in-cheek reference to "let them eat cake" which was the response of a princess when she heard that the peasants had no more bread. She was oblivious to the problem of famine. You can't take these lyrics at face value. This doesn't need to be explained if you know the politics of Bad Religion and Sage Francis but apparently some people need context. So there you go. Let them eat war.
@strangefamousrecords Actually... Marie Antoinette, The princess you are referencing actually never said that... This song is talking about the general idea of feeding the people something that won't help. But Marie never said it, it was a rumor spread by a jealous noble.
@Ariuq94 Further evidence can be found on page 17 of Paul Johnson's book Intellectuals. published by New York: Harper & Row. And it seems I was wrong, it wasn't a jealous noble, it was just a noble who is believed to have made the entire story up in his autobiography. Sorry, I haven't read the book for a while. XD
I heard them play this song live but I didn't know what it was called the lead singer of rise against came in and did the part at the end it was awesome
@pitbull103 war is never the answer, unless your a fool, however that is not what this song is about. its about the extortion of the people by sending the poor off to fight their war for the cost of a meal and just above minimum wage while they get rich.
Nice work on the effects on the lyrics. A few typos - it's a "riding crop", not a writing crop... there were a few one... but I was smiling so broadly while listening, that I missed 'em. Good work!

@TheLargehoman not emo, I.M.O. in my opinion, wanted to clarify

You got a part of the lyrics wrong. It's not a "writing crop" it's actually "riding crop." Which makes a ton more sense.
