I DON'T CARE WHAT ANYONE SAYS SEAN IS TOP TIER IN 3s JUST BECAUSE ITS TOKIDO PLAYING DOESN'T MEAN THAT SEAN ISN'T TOP LOOK AT THE RESULTS!!!!!!1111111
forreals tho, those bball finishes are too good. Vanawo had no chance against the master
To give him a little bit of rope, Twelve and Elena have strange stances that make the timing of high parries strange. I can parry Gill's drop knee about 95 per cent of the time, but more like only 50 per cent with these two characters.
It's *still* a very poor performance from Vanao, especially since his opponent is Sean.

Jesus, its about how good a player is with ANY character. You just contradicted yourself by saying its a matter of how good the player winning with him, therefore its about a good player winning with anybody. Just like how rx got whooped in vid 3 when he used makoto and alex, because he is not good enough with those 2 characters, but its a difrent story with his urien, well its the same thing
You're dumb. A character's tools and player skill are completely unrelated. If you didn't notice, which I'm sure you didn't you're the one who contradicted yourself.
evry character has the tools necessary, its just a matter of the player learning how to use them. Its like a guy who has a nunchuk but says nunchuks sucks because he doesnt know how to use it and says a stick is better because most people can use it. You should learn the character to its fullest just like you dude with ken or chun or wtv before saying that the character sucks, thats just noob ignorant talk, stop beeing followers and try something else
altergenesis2 is right, bodler is wrong. Just because a player like Sean P or Tokido can win with Sean doesn't mean the character isn't weak. I personally use Sean far better than Twelve, but it's agreed that Q, Sean and Twelve are at the bottom of the tier list. Tokido winning with Sean doesn't "make the character good"; it just means skill and strategy overcame the character's legion of shortcomings. A great martial artist can kill you with a needle; doesn't mean it's a good weapon.
what makes sean that bad? sean can do stuff that others cant and other characters can do stuff that sean cant, that balances evrybody in the game perfectly, just learn the weapon. Its just easyer to follow the crowd with yun ken or chun because they are evrywhere therefore know about their strenghts.
Sean has no good normal two-in-ones. So when the enemy makes a mistake it's hard for him to capitalize without a super art. That also means he has no good non-super jump-in combos. His specials have a lot of wind-up time, making them easier to parry or at least block, and he has no command throws to force the enemy out of blocking. He's not useless (he does have great damage), but he's weak.
To say this game has "perfect balance" is flat-out wrong. No fighting game has perfect balance.
He's got mixup game. Most people dont know it because most people never play Sean enough to know, and when they DO play him, they treat him like Ryu with different moves. Hes not like the others, he's Sean, so he requires different strategy.
I wont go into detail, but I have a feeling I'd give you a good fight with Sean simply because you dont know him.
the problem is that's ALL he has. once you get past a couple new 'tricks', there's no solid game with sean to rely on. sean simply has almost nothing going for him.
He may very well have a mix up game, but it doesn't consist of the moves I listed and mix up games are only viable if you're not against the corner taking hits to the face as you generally are when vsing higher tier characters.
not rly considering that sean has most of the same moves as a shoto and everyone else has much more USEFUL moves than him...theres nothing about him that balances the game...its everyone else that helps balance it because there moves can be used in top level situations
Sorta like Eddie lol

his moves also have ridiculously TERRIBLE priority
c. HK is slower than all shoto's
shoryu is... bout the same use as Q's back MP
tackle - useless
overhead kick - useless
tornado kick - useless when not on ex
basically too many redundant moves

Yeah vanao played pretty bad, but still one of the oldest and one the best japanese Ryu.
Check his videos with the top jp players.

Oh trust me I know, he's usually amazing. But every top player has off-days and this was definitely one of his.
katsuranomaly 3 years ago
True, he reminds me of some players who stoped after a chain of fail... sad but it's really hard to keep up with the best.
