If i were you id have started with jet stream just for the bit of dmg and then went with refuling for sword dmg and just to get tp then finish the fight with a basic skill chain and magic burst with 2hr ( chain affinity, Burst affinity, Red lotus blade , jet stream, then finish it up with bomb toss for the Burst and extra dmg =D

I always hated being 50+ RDM before the cap increase. Refresh and haste machine sucked when I wanted to just enfeeb and melee. BLU isn't so bad :D I kind of prefer it and a little sad to see that the BLU lost so easily. Fun watch though.

BLU is quite devastating in Ballista/Brenner. These are variations for 'No Silence' rule (for gil’s sake.)

Variation 1: (No poison pots) Sheep Song > ‘Dispel Magic’ (to remove stone skin) > Frightful Roar > Stinking Gas > Sneak Attack + Cannon Ball > Head Butt > Disseverment > Whatever the hell you want because at this point they’re damn near dead.

Well, there is no "best mage".

Red mages use physical attacks and magic from both schools, but they learn spells at later levels, learn fewer spells, and aren't as strong with them. Still, their versatility is a plus.

Black mages only use attack magic, and they're the basic nukers.

Now, blue mages are odd. They learn their magic from monsters. They'll learn how to do things like use 1,000 Needles, Self-Destruct, and so on.

It depends on how you wanna play, I guess.

This however is only coming from a pvp standpoint.

Filement hold: 25% slow, they both have ice spikes so nothing to mention there. They didn't even attempt to open with the big 3 nor did they take time to realize that they can fight a rdm without engaging. Heck, they could have even gravity nuked/spelled the guy to death. There are many routes a blu can take. A rdm/pld-blu is pretty dangerous yes, but blu has similar capabilities barring phalanx and convert (i keep headbutt ready for this, people better chainspell if they wanna convert vs me)

Blue learns monsters spells and casts them like normal magic, and redmage is a mixture between offensive and healing magic.....and ya the games ok on xbox, no different than pc or ps2

Im sure someone will correct what i say but w/e. Both mages r supposed to be combat mages, Red is a mix of white (healing) black(damage dealing) and warriors. Blu, im no 100% on but, but most of their spells are damage. they get their spells from monsters. However, alot ppl are disappointed with the combat damage from a RDM. I am one and i sub WHM and am on the back line healing. altho, u can be an effective attacker with RDM when paired with ninja or something. i play xbox. its just as good

The player base made rdm into an healer due to the fact of it has refresh, which imo should have been a whm spell onry. Blu is what rdm was orginally suppose to be, but fails to be. If you havnt started FF11 today, i highly recommend not playing it. For one, If your just a casual player it will take you FOREVER just to accomplish even the minor of things. Also FF14 (new FF online mmorpg...yes another one) will be releasing within next two years. Some FF11 fans are dissapointed becuz of all the hard work they put into this game then with a release of another game. FF14 is said to do everything correct; adding a dimension for casual players to be a part of this game.

Acutally. Casual players can play ff11 now and in fact alot have. With level sync, FoV, and many job adjustments I find it quite possible even for a new player to get as far as a veteran player. This not inculding endgame gears. The let down din't come from 14. It came from how easy they have made the game in the last year. The only thing it really takes is a bit of common sense and if a person want a guide there is a ff11wiki~

Actually, I don't record much of anything anymore, and yes, sometimes BLUs do "drop me" but the majority of the time, it's when I'm not playing defense setup, or if I'm playing some other job, or if I'm not even paying attention to them/fighting someone else (aka SATA Cannonball, like a noob)

I respect Dulmakja in the sense that he isn't like most other BLUs, he doesn't sit back and spam the same exact 3 spells, over and over until he wins. He tries to mix it up and play uniquely.

As I've previously posted, I feel that using Silence in a Mage VS Mage fight is a pointless waste of everyone's time. A mage with no spells, is basically a punching bag, may as well not even compete at that point. It would be like if they gave a player job the ability to use Amnesia, no melee class is going to want to compete against them because they'll just spam amnesia and the fight becomes lopsided.

Truthfully, in most parties, RDM will be asked to be a healer because it's more self sufficient than a WHM, and personally, I feel, more self sufficient than a SCH, or even a WHM/SCH, as I've said on numerous previous occasions, RDM's strength is it's durability and longevity. Coupled with a BRD, Sigil/Sanction/Signet refresh, Relic Hat, Zenith body (or Morrigan's) thats 9 points of refresh

The BLU didn't play very good.. first off you don't zerk all MP like that on a fully buffed RDM. Second of all, you don't cast disseverment and then try to cast pineconebmob after.. it's poison.. Cmon now.. best way to play BLU is defence, i sub PLD, full def gear, Taz tacos, gain some TP, if done right, you can wip out a RDM with the Light combo, and have your macro on stun right after. I think everyone knows that silence > All mages. Agreeing now to use silence during 1on1 is alot better.

A recent update improved the resist traits, a well geared RDM/PLD might be difficult to sleep with anything short of Elemental Seal+Sleep 2. I personally wear atleast 2 pieces of "Enhances "Resist Sleep" trait." gear, as well as the "Resist Sleep" trait from /PLD.

I agree with both of you, I, infact, didn't learn to kite with my RDM until late 70 because I had friends I could level with the whole time. However, I then practiced using my black mage, taking it from 40 to 70 solo, and applying the logic I had learned on my RDM, however, the logic for kiting mobs is rather boring and most times, unfair, when applied to a PVP situation, so I tend to NEVER pvp via kiting unless it's already being applied to me. That's exactly what most people don't realize ... DEF is one of, if not absolutely, the best stats in PVP. What good does being able to hit really hard do for you if you don't live more than a few seconds? What good are shadows when most, not all but most, jobs can knock down all 3(4) shadows in a single near instant cast spell? Personally I think /NIN is a horrible choice (save for PLD/NIN), since the ability to offhand a weapon is pretty pointless when lose so much more than you gain.

Whenever I fight another mage 1 on 1, we usually both agree that it's only fair we both be allowed to fight to our full potential (minus 2Hour Abilities), thus, Silence is a very unfair way to handicap someone in a mage fight. I could have easily silenced Dulmakja, and he would have been left with nothing but lolBLU melee... which would have been very little to absolutely no challenge for me.

Blu melee isn't horrible really, it is just most blu don't equip for it, especially in PvP. Normally pvp is who ever can take down the opposition first and unfortunatly with blu their spells normally do that before their melee would. I'm kind of suprised the blu didn't counter you with debuffs also though

Currently the most popular PVP server is Fenrir, they apparently hold serverwide Ballista Tournaments every week. I'm not sure how many people are on the server or how nice the community is, but it's a very popular server, I know that. I personally love my home: Midgardsormr

hmmm.. good job rdm, but starting with that many buffs is just unfair, u should try 2 or less buff @ start, blu should have subbed /nin XD, im sick of /nin blus,/war, /drk, /pld would be beter options

i think red mage is 1 of the best starting jobs cause it can use almost all blm and whm spells plus all the rdm spells and can hit with some damge and at a high lvl rdm can main heal and with rdm galka they can tank at times so rdms rules
