Very Cool. I'm impressed! I really like the sound. Although the name of the organ is inspired by the G F Handel piece the real name of the musical piece is "Gökvalsen" which is swedish for "The Cuckoo Walz ". It was written in 1913 by a swedish composer by the name of Emanuel Jonasson.
Do an internet search for "John Smith Organs". You will be amazed by what amateur organ builders are creating in their home workshops! You will also find sources for plans, kits, and parts.
What a impressive street organ. Unfortunately i am not so practical-"I have the the thumb in the middle of my hand." Have you built this yourself? You must have had a big A in craftmanship in school.
When I saw "Cuckoo and Nightingale" I was expecting to hear the Handel Organ Concerto with that name. It was written for a keyboard organ with a specification similar to this one.
I do have a couple of classical music arrangements, 'Water Music' and 'Harmonious Blacksmith' that sound very nice even with the limited scope of this instrument.
The Handel concerto was, in fact, the inspiration for the name of the organ.
You can build one yourself from scratch using plans, you can build one from a kit, and there are manufacturers you can order from if you're not into building. (See video info) The song "Cuckoo Waltz" is available from suppliers of music rolls for 20 note organs.
As one who enjoys building things in my home workshop, I have been inspired to become an "amateur organ builder" by the clever designs of Mr. John Smith in England. These designs have allowed hundreds of people the world over to construct their own hand crank organs from locally available materials.
Thank you so much for posting these little organs for all to see. you are truly a craftsman, and your antimated facades are delightful! Wonderful Job !!!!!!
Sweet sounds.....:>)

That has to be one of my favorites. The monkey one is my favorite.
I'm just now working to order the universal 26 plans, but I may also order the 20 to possibly do a similar organ to yours.
