As someone who has over 300 or so acid techno records, both old and new, let me just say that there is plenty of AWESOME new AND old acid techno. Whether it's the original Mad Cows on Acid (released in 1997), or Liberator and Moss' Acid Wah Wah Wah (released in 2009), all that matters is that the production and sound are good -- that's it.

@XenoPhear saying what a music style 'should' be and you are slippery ground my friend. Art is subjective so your gonna land yourself in hot water saying techno 'should' be this or that.

I'm sure the 'nosebleed teknoists' would have a much different take on tekno yet still think they are talking about the same thing (though of course theres loads of diff subgenres) I think you'll get in trouble as soon as you place a prescriptive moniker like 'should' on it.

In your opinion it should :).

@4sternenstaub your assumption fails as I only got into dance music around 2000 and only just recently got into certian parts of the 90's sound. Most of it I think is absolute trash, like 90% of music or any other human endeavour. Mostly shit, only a cpl of diamonds in the dirt.

@dwaynedibbly you say you got into this thing in 2000, some of us were into it from the start and can see how its evolved. Given the corporate values into which modern music devolved into after 2003, i will always prefer the home made honesty of mid to late 90's acid techno.

clinical is what defines techno, nasty 303 lines add the acid, i wouldnt say acid techno is boring, its certainly energetic and the atmosphere was always warm n happy when the DJ knew his stuff and created a banging set
