  • Im 25 too and been watching Tony hancocks all my life, hes timeless. Shame he isnt about any more..

    RIP

    Tony Hancocks

  • im 14 just discovered hancock week ago and the only thing is i don't understand is the money system (im Canadian)

  • lol raffles the gentleman crook

  • Heard about this from reading Jacqueline Wilson's autobiography...love it :')

  • Absolute genius, Paul Merton is also a huge fan of Hancock. Also, if you ever watched Bottom, although more anarchic you can see some elements between Eddie and Richie that mirror these two, I'll bet there are many more who have modelled themselves on this double act over the years if you think about it, I'm 30 and my dad introduced us to this years ago and we've loved the episodes ever since

  • Loved these series...funny even today.

  • I have this on DVD.....just need to find it lol

  • im 16 and just discoverd hancock and he s so much better than any other comedians around in modern times

  • Hancock was a GENIUS..you cant find comedy like this these days.Galton & Simpson were the greatest writers.. Steve Coogan loves Hancock too.

  • @KelvinLSmith i thnk your right i'll live in the past it's funnier and then when im older i'll discover all the rubbish around to day and then go back to the future again ,Hancock was Genious your Bloody right mate

  • Hancock corpses at 8' 24"- brilliant! These two have never been equalled in over fifty years.

  • Before his time.

  • Although it's B & W it still sounds as good , if not better than anything the tv can offer today!

  • Tony Hancock is without doubt the best comedian of his generation, thanks for uploading this, faved and 5/5

  • unnapproachable.

  • Pure genius

  • thanks simontimelord.

    i love hancocks 1/2 hour.

this is the 1st time ive seen it with video.

  • This is a prime example of how you write good comedy and perform good comedy. Hancock and James - legends!!! Many so called comedy writers could learn a lot from these two, and Galton and Simpson too. This episode is pure gold.

"When's the coronation? Nah, hah, hah, hah!!!

  • I didn't appreciate how funny this was first time round I was about 13..I can see the adult humour in this now.

  • I'm 19 and i get so much joy from watching 'Hancock's Half hour'. I thank my father for introducing me to these great comedies at such a young age. I know i'm young but i also listen to 'Round the Horn'; watch the 'Q' series and all 'Carry on' films. They don't make them like they used to, that's for sure!

  • i'm impressed! esp by round the horn. listen to bbc radio7 theres loads of good stuff url like on that mate. keep the faith aha i'm alan partridge

  • I remember watching this in 1959, five years before i was born... and it was the funniest thing I ever... no, wait - oh, im all confused now!

  • Absolutely love this episode, the part when he gets to the till..."Are you on a diet?" lol :)

  • Nah man i'm 25 and started listening to hancock when i was about 11 or 12 it's funny what ever your age.

  • I can watch this again and again. The only ones I like better are 'The Americans Hit Town' (Radio episode only I think) and the Bomb Disposal episode (can't recall the title - sorry). Thanks for posting this.

  • The Americans hit town..........look at his car !! theres the front and if you look out the other window theres the back, awesome. Tone is such a miss. Its been just over 40 years since we lost the great man. RIP Tone

  • My girlfriend absolutely hated Hancock up untill she watched this episode. Genius. Im only 21 and my mates think im old fashioned to watch this. Its probally due to lack of violence, rape, and drugs. "whens the coranation YAH YAH YAH" lol

  • @JohnCandyFan1986

I think The Telegraph did a service by coining the phrase of today's comedy as "the tyranny of edginess”. For one, vulgarity hasn't been edgy since the likes of Peter Cook, George Carlin and Richard Pryor did it artfully in the 70's. Today's breed are lowest common denominator sex/potty jokes mixed with infantile meanness. Just because it's easy material for a well connected, aspiring comedian doesn't mean it's entertaining for the rest of us. I miss the era of talent.

  • thankyou so much for posting this half hour as its the only one I cannot find !

  • Brilliant as always
