ich würd mal sagen david gegen goliat oder der w140 wiegt knapp 2,24 tonen der corsa gerade mal 850kg lass den 140er ma gegen ne wand donnern dann sieht auch der nicht mehr gut aus !
This is an old clip with old vehicles. That old mercedes wouldn't stand a chance against a new sedan. Same thing goes with that Corsa B. If the same Mercedes crashed into a brand new Corsa D i'm pretty sure the person in the Corsa would get the least damage.
i disagree..my dad has one of those w140 s320..and they are quite rigid in every way, thick metal doors, thick heavy metal chassis. Its what people call a brick car. New sedan are mostly design to be fuel efficient and light..so are weaker.
Yes i agree with that, they are rigid and got thick metal. We used to have an old -88 E300 and it was well built. But a modern sedan are built to get as demolished as possible during a crash, in order to absord all the crash energy. Older cars were designed as heavy and thick as possible to be able to stand up to a crash like that, but in the other end the driver and passengers would suffer more damage since the car absorbed less crash energy.
he hit on a highway with w126 directly at 150 km/h in concrete.. lamppost I belive it's called in england.
both he and his friend who was on front passengers seat survived without any life threatnin' injuries. btw, he's auto bodyman and said he's never gonna sit in any car that's lighter than 1,5 ton lol
if 126 crashed into new corsa, trust me, you would collect corsa for a week. ^
I belive Merc did most crash tests in history of autoindustry so.. don't underestimate it ;)
Well your assesment is partly correct but weight is something to be considered and the W140 was and even by modern standards is quite rigid. As far as the new corsa is concerned, crumple zone size and the mass of the W140 would still be an issue. Newer technology can bend but ultimately not cheat the laws of physics.
I admit that weight plays a big role in this, but it's a lot about crash zones aswell as i mentioned before. There's another clip on youtube where a Toyota Yaris does a frontal crash with a Volvo 940, and 940's a damn well built. That clip prooves my point. Then again i might have been overenthusiastic over a Corsa D driver getting less damage than the Merc driver, they might just get just as damaged both of them :P

yeah, BUT thats the thing about crash tests a car has to perform well no matter what it crashes into. and the W140 is not called tank without a reason^^
i live in germany and until 2005 it was possible here, to make an insurance contract for an S600 as a commercial truck, which is not possible anymore because they rose the minimum gross weight from 2.8 to 3.5 tons =(

@Filosofen88
You didn´t work on a Corsa D as well you didn´t pay attention in physics at shool?
At first you overrate the differences between a Low-Budget Car B,C or D
Secondly, 2 tons never equal 1 ton. Mr. Newton gave the S-Class the advantage long time ago :-)

Now smash that merc into a Chevy Suburban.
Frylock350 4 years ago
believe me the suburban would be smashed. that merc is almost as heavy as the chevrolet.
Heske1991 4 years ago 4
The Suburban's 6200lbs, the Merc is 4400lbs. Plus the Chevy is a full-frame whereas the Merc is unitbody. It doesn't bode well for the Merc.

Note the Corsa stops more abruptly than the S-class... BAD.
