@POWARENJA This dude is lame. Learn to fly fish, or at least learn to use some lures. You're totally right. Chumming is for those who don't know how to fish.
@MAGICFLY02 Thanks so much for your comment. These methods are for stocked trout as I mention in the vids. When I fish wild trout, I use my flyrods. Sounds like you're an expert. If you happen to catch stocked trout with flies, please share your best techniques with us. God Bless You, ~ Trout Ninja ~
@platinumkeffer Thanks for writing. You're right if you only have wild trout where you fish. As you see in the videos, these methods are for stocked trout. When I fish for wild trout, I prefer my flyrod. God Bless You, ~Trout Ninja ~
Chumming gets the fish into the feeding mode. If you do not catch over your limit, and the chum is good for fish to eat, absolutely no harm done. Makes fishing a whole lot faster without so much waiting for the fish to find the food on your hook. It is illegal here in Oregon to deposit anything in the water not attached to your hooks... which we are allowed 3. Great video!
really, try fishing in a lake in oklahoma when its 20 degrees Fahrenheit and the wind is blowing a 20 miles an hour. I will admit it was stocked but they only stocked 100 or something
@pixarlover123 Thanks for commenting. I have vid of me fishing in a snowfall around 20 degrees at the same lake. I was the only nut at the lake. And fish and game showed up. I made them check my license. Oh, caught and released about 11 in less than 2 hours. I am blessed. Come back soon! ~ Trout Ninja ~

Requires about as much skill as sitting on the bank. I realise this is about catching stock fish, but come on, there is absolutely zero fishing ability involved here. Trout ninja maybe if you were fly-casting somewhere extreme, but surely not in a stocked lake with trout pellets, on a pleasing sunny afternoon.
@freelancebush Thanks for writing. Yes, you are 100% correct. This site is about catching stocked trout. And I do love fly-fishing for wild trout. But we don't have any close by.So, instead of dreaming about fishing, we work with what we have. God Bless You ~ Trout Ninja ~
funny- but thats no secret every one knows bout chummin, but its not allowed in most trout lakes is problem or everyone would do it. but there isnt a experienced knowledgable fisherman on planet doesnt know chumming is best most effective way by far to fish. and that the pellets are fed to em at hatchery (trout) and are superb chum. so should title video for beginners or novices id suggest its kind of absurd to any real angler with experience. but glad your havin fun. watchout for peta psychos
Thank you sir for posting this informational video about trout fishing. I have never fished for trout before but I plan on starting this next spring. My friend's father is giving me his 12 foot boat and all of his fishing equipment. @harkbeam Wow. Free boat. Nice. Leap frog everyone else by going to TroutNinjaTV com and watch
all the vids. You don't need a boat to catch stocked trout. What you'll discover in the vids are the short cuts to catching stocked trout fast and often. I look forward to your success. ~ Trout Ninja ~
@harkbeam well. these fish in this vid are in a lake/pond aka theyre stocked. idk if the ones by you are natives but most likely not. hey i rarely use lures for trout. i use worms and power bait/marshmallows and corn mostly. and if i use a lure it would be a spinner. which would be a mepps rooster tail or a joes flies. for flies i just go to walmart and get ones that are in a pack of 2. trout are very easy to spook but are very aggressive. so if you throw a lure in their face theyll bite usually
Dear Fans, and Critics, TroutNinjaTV shows you the fastest most effective way to catch STOCKED trout. And if all you do is fish for wild trout, you are blessed and you must be some kind of expert. If you are an expert or just discover something that works please show others. God Bless You ~ Trout Ninja ~
@TroutNinjaTV what i do is sometimes, when you wear sunglasses, you can see the fish, then depending on the fish, you put the bait or the lure on and cast in the direction of the fish, but not nessaceraly snagg it, also fish LOVE to hang out by moving water, like if there are any holes, streams, a small waterfall, fish love it, so try there, good luck! :)
Excellent question. When fishing for trout with bait., like floating bait, unfortunately most of the hook sets are deep because the trout are instantly trying to swallow the food. In this video, I was also testing Mustad circle hooks. Didn't matter. The trout still swallowed everything. The only way I've been able to get more lip hook ups is to use my Thigh High Method of rigging the bait. Check that video out. Or just cut your line as close to the hook as possible and release the fish. ~ TN ~
Hey I've noticed that when I fish for trout they usually swallow the hook and its sometimes hard not to hurt them. Well, my question is do you think circle hook would be good, to prevent them from swallowing it?
@1595saul1 Unfortunately, I had to buy a 40 lb sack plus shipping here in the U.S. If you'd like those details, go to the web site and sign up for tips. That way you'll get my personal trout ninja email address. Send me a note and I'll get you all the details. ~ Trout Ninja ~
Not really sure what to say. I find this kind of fishing to be an embarassment, and it appears to be a form of cheating - not to mention laziness. The only positive thing I can say is that you appeared to C&R the trout - properly or not I have no idea. Maybe it's best if we don't know. Good luck with the chumming thing.
i like your technique i noticed how you barely set the hook me and my grandfather sometimes get impatient and set it too early and too hard here in new mexico we use bobber with a good size split shot and a smaller leader theere is just too much weeds for bottom but we catch our limits thanks for the tips love fishing and love your videos
I think your idea was great dude. You are like a fishing ninga! Me and my grandpa been waiting to catch a big fish, i think your idea would work for me and my grandpa.
Years ago Berkley used to make a bait that resembled the trout food which was to be used right after they stock new trout so the new trout just thought it was feeding time. I don't think they make it anymore. It looked just like the food you used.
Leaving las vegas tomarrow. Going to utah. Got all my tackle ready. Cant wait. I no ima catch a monster! If you dont mind telling me trout ninga what state do you live in?
@NLHpoker Since we are only talking Stocked trout, my "go to" bait now are the floating potions I create in the Trout Ninja Laboratory. I also created what I call for now DUST (not available to the public).I put it on powerbait. So far, when I've tested, using DUST outfishes plain powerbait 2 to 1. Its like having a Ferrari in your tackle box. My floating potions cost a lot to make, so when I'm out of the nearly-impossible-to-get ingredients, I use powerbait, but now I just DUST it. ~ TN ~
@TroutNinjaTV thats great im glad ur doing good with that kinda stuff.i fish another small pond in utah next to cedar city. its called aspen mirror lake. from my experience the fish wont touch powerbait in the morning. the will hit crazy over any type of lure though. lures are my favroite. it keeps you more active and you can feel the bite. plus you can catch and relase trout better. i dont like eating trout :)
@NLHpoker Here's one of tons of tips. A Trout Ninja Field Tester in California was really frustrated because he knew his bait was floating, but was always getting weeds on his hook and no bites. Out of frustration, he change the leader on his Trout Ninja Rig to 5 feet long! Caught his limit in less than an hour. Make sure your floating bait floats ABOVE the weedline, or you'll just be frustrated. Now Go Catch Some Trout and Report Back ~ Trout Ninja ~
@oMoTioNzv I use a lot of different rods. The two in this video are short about 6 ft graphite lite action. I am converting to telescopic travel rods so I can toss them into my backpack or car trunk and just go. I've bought 3 telescopic rods , Balzer brand. A German brand. ~ Trout Ninja ~
I have no pictures but ive caught over 6 5LB trout there. Cuthrout and rainbow trout. I fish from the shore and have great succses with powerbait and ur rig. Thank you
@NLHpoker Panguitch Lake is gorgeous!! If you go send me a report .I've never been. Would love to go. I have a bunch of video in my camera I just need to edit and clean up. thanks for asking and thanks for your patience. Now Go Catch Some Trout (or other fish, it's all good) ~ Trout Ninja ~
i wanna see you go to a stream in northern Pennsylvania where we have natural browns and catch a fish, ill put money down you wont catch more than a few rocks
@easternrider2012 Thanks for commenting. Maybe I wasn't so clear in this video. But my tips are for stocked trout. "Natural" browns require completely different techniques. come back soon and give us some of your Natural browns tips. ~ Trout Ninja ~
@TroutNinjaTV First off i wanna appoligize for being a "youtube asshole" lol i wasnt sure if the fish were stocked or "native" again sorry for my typo. And if you would decide to come to my neck of the woods i would reccomend either small minnies or depending on the weather, if it rains within a day or two of your trip use small night crawlers, that whats gonna be in the creeks already. Ive personally never had luck on roostertails or even fly but they are worth a shot.
@easternrider2012 No need to apologize. I would've said the same to myself! Thanks for your tips. Come over to the website sometime at TroutNinjaTV com Thanks, ~ Trout Ninja ~
@TroutNinjaTV Water here where your gonna catch natives is gonna be quick and cold. Find a nice deep whole and float your choice of bait through. Brownies and brooks are normally very aggressive fish but it still may take a few casts but they're are gonna hit hard and fast. SHORT light action pole with about 4lb test and you shouls be set...Good Luck with your fishing
@choclabmax Man, I wish I had a trout pond. That would be awesome! The park is public and heavily fished. Yeah, I wish it was my private pond. ~ Trout Ninja ~
@bbbhhgg You can. However if you do, you'll need to fish it with a float to keep it suspended in the "zone". I recommend for floats, a large "crystal waggler" with a stop-knot, split shot, and a tiny single hook. Just google "crystal waggler" and you'll see what it is. Looks like, and about as thick as a clear drinking straw. ~ Trout Ninja ~
Hope you get to use these tips. If you get a chance, please check out our Facebook page. It's a little rough right now, but it will get better. Post on the wall. Go to
facebook com / TroutNinjaTV Tell me on the wall what you'd like to see.
@dgui123451 You have to go to the trout if you are able. For example, if one side of your lake is very shallow and warm and the other side is cooler, deeper and more comfortable for trout, then you have to move to the cooler water. Chum the area where trout are likely to be. As simple as it sounds. You can only catch trout if they are there. ~ Trout Ninja ~
I like it better when you make videos of you using the rigs and catching fish have you ever tried putting a hook with a bobber on your line between the eyes so you know when you get a bite the bobber will go up?
@coolguy5ist Strike detectors!! I've tried bobbers like you describe, clothespins, leaves. I also have electronic detectors.Very stealth. I'm fortunate since I invented my trout ninja floating potions and system. I get hits and catches so often, all the strike indicators kind of get in the way. I'll use the electronic ones when weather warms up to fish for big catfish and carp. Especially because the ones I have work better with lines 6lb test and up. What do you think about detectors? ~ TN ~
@efsq Serious...the want my secrets! Over 40 years worth of experience, good, bad, and ugly. Come over to the website and sign up for top secret trout fishing (catching) updates troutninjatv.ocm Now Go Catch Some Trout! ~ Trout Ninja ~
@coolguy5ist The trout pellets came from a manufacturer of trout and salmon farm pellets. Unfortunately, I had to buy a 40 pound sack! And ship it across the U.S. Try a local aquarium shop for sinking pellets. Read the ingredients and try to find at least a 40% protein content and large enough so you can throw them. Much easier if you use a chumming-slingshot. ~ Trout Ninja ~ Now Go Catch Some Trout! See me at TroutNinjaTV.ocm
@TroutNinjaTV circle hooks are the ish just like you did in the vid there is no need to set the hook just reel in and you should get a perfect lip hook every time it is genius the way they are designed.
just one concern. as far as i understood chumming in freshwater is illegal in a lot of states including the state i live in California. Did you check with your state laws and regulations before chumming. and since it is illegal in a lot of states i am asking if you could put up a disclaimer.
@thisfool89 Thanks for your comments. Great point. If I didn't mention in the video, some states or specific waters do not allow chumming. And I've got an untested idea on "how to chum without chumming". I'll be testing that once ice is gone.I'll share those results. I caught 8 trout during my circle hook tests. Only 2 were jaw hooked. Maybe the tiny circle hooks are too small because stocked trout swallow bait so quickly. I used Mustad about size 12. ~ Trout Ninja ~
@TroutNinjaTV o yea those stocked trout inhale floating bait and i would imagine there is tones of places for the hook to get stuck in when it is further down the throat.
so u cant use this method if the lake is not stocked?

Any last minuet* tips for the average powerbaiting trip?
NLHpoker 7 months ago
@NLHpoker Here's one of tons of tips. A Trout Ninja Field Tester in California was really frustrated because he knew his bait was floating, but was always getting weeds on his hook and no bites. Out of frustration, he change the leader on his Trout Ninja Rig to 5 feet long! Caught his limit in less than an hour. Make sure your floating bait floats ABOVE the weedline, or you'll just be frustrated. Now Go Catch Some Trout and Report Back ~ Trout Ninja ~

what kind of rod do you use??
oMoTioNzv 7 months ago
@oMoTioNzv I use a lot of different rods. The two in this video are short about 6 ft graphite lite action. I am converting to telescopic travel rods so I can toss them into my backpack or car trunk and just go. I've bought 3 telescopic rods , Balzer brand. A German brand. ~ Trout Ninja ~

i wanna see you go to a stream in northern Pennsylvania where we have natural browns and catch a fish, ill put money down you wont catch more than a few rocks
easternrider2012 9 months ago
@easternrider2012 Thanks for commenting. Maybe I wasn't so clear in this video. But my tips are for stocked trout. "Natural" browns require completely different techniques. come back soon and give us some of your Natural browns tips. ~ Trout Ninja ~
TroutNinjaTV 8 months ago
@TroutNinjaTV First off i wanna appoligize for being a "youtube asshole" lol i wasnt sure if the fish were stocked or "native" again sorry for my typo. And if you would decide to come to my neck of the woods i would reccomend either small minnies or depending on the weather, if it rains within a day or two of your trip use small night crawlers, that whats gonna be in the creeks already. Ive personally never had luck on roostertails or even fly but they are worth a shot.

PS, this was another part to my other comment

So do you put the chum on your hook to?
bbbhhgg 9 months ago
@bbbhhgg You can. However if you do, you'll need to fish it with a float to keep it suspended in the "zone". I recommend for floats, a large "crystal waggler" with a stop-knot, split shot, and a tiny single hook. Just google "crystal waggler" and you'll see what it is. Looks like, and about as thick as a clear drinking straw. ~ Trout Ninja ~

if u cant get the fish to come how can u fix that?
dgui123451 11 months ago
@dgui123451 You have to go to the trout if you are able. For example, if one side of your lake is very shallow and warm and the other side is cooler, deeper and more comfortable for trout, then you have to move to the cooler water. Chum the area where trout are likely to be. As simple as it sounds. You can only catch trout if they are there. ~ Trout Ninja ~
TroutNinjaTV 11 months ago
thanks man for all your tutorials
dgui123451 11 months ago
I like it better when you make videos of you using the rigs and catching fish have you ever tried putting a hook with a bobber on your line between the eyes so you know when you get a bite the bobber will go up?
coolguy5ist 11 months ago
@coolguy5ist Strike detectors!! I've tried bobbers like you describe, clothespins, leaves. I also have electronic detectors.Very stealth. I'm fortunate since I invented my trout ninja floating potions and system. I get hits and catches so often, all the strike indicators kind of get in the way. I'll use the electronic ones when weather warms up to fish for big catfish and carp. Especially because the ones I have work better with lines 6lb test and up. What do you think about detectors? ~ TN ~

Why would that be illegal?
keiferownz 1 year ago
were do you get the trout pellets from?
coolguy5ist 1 year ago

Did you check with your state laws and regulations before chumming. and since it is illegal in a lot of states i am asking if you could put up a disclaimer.
thisfool89 1 year ago
@thisfool89 Thanks for your comments. Great point. If I didn't mention in the video, some states or specific waters do not allow chumming. And I've got an untested idea on "how to chum without chumming". I'll be testing that once ice is gone.I'll share those results. I caught 8 trout during my circle hook tests. Only 2 were jaw hooked. Maybe the tiny circle hooks are too small because stocked trout swallow bait so quickly. I used Mustad about size 12. ~ Trout Ninja ~
TroutNinjaTV 1 year ago
@TroutNinjaTV o yea those stocked trout inhale floating bait and i would imagine there is tones of places for the hook to get stuck in when it is further down the throat.
