An interesting video-the Suez canal is certainly an impressive feat of engineering. Were the egyptian troops guarding the ships in transit? you have to feel for the thousands of poor brits stationed in the canal zone till the 50s.

Heading south you start at midnight and exit about 4pm

Heading north you start about 5am and exit about 7pm

as you must stop in the bitten lakes for the two convoys to pass each other
