Todd is that you in the video? very well explained but sadly u didnt tell guys hows it combined with motion tween nor did you change the central location of the white small circle in the middle of the object to show how that changes the very position of the axis. All lynda tutorials are guilty of not pausing or slowing down for the viewers to ponder over. silence my dear friend can speak much more than words. Where were the publish previews? U never made a timeline ..hence no swf was done.
hi, this is the best tutorial i've ever seen. not becouse of thing you explain, but becouse the way you do it. just important information without (even about vanishing point, what I was exactly looking for) wasting time on some stupped long examples like other people do.
1. open up flash cs4 2. welcome page comes up 3 click action scrip 3.0 4. flash opens in essentials 5 choose rectangle 6. create a rectangle on stage 7 click selection tool 8 chosse 3D transtion tool 9 click no square for changes axis happens what am i doing wrong please? I also need to learn how to get back to the arranging of the cs4 layout on the right. I must of done something for the sizes and boxes are all over the place
"This is not full 3D. It is more like 2.5D. It is 2D objects moving in 3D Space, not 3D objects moving in 3D Space"
FFS, I thought this was too good to be true... :| It's more akin to how After Effects handles 3D... duped, 2.5D instead of proper 3D. Kinda figured, since actual 3D really requires full-hardware support, and software/scripting alone can't really manage it.
Was still lookin' forward to seeing my 3D art used in real-time Flash... but then again, I just keep dreaming... >_>
Hi. One of the problems i've encountered while using this is stuff like attempting to make a 3d model. Just say i'm drawing a squerish space ship. I can draw the sides and fron and put them together. But just say the left side of the ship is closer. When i rotate it to the opposite side, the left side will still be overlapping the right side. This is a problem that i have no idea how to fix. Any suggestions?
You can not fix it, it is just the problem that there is still layers, and still act as layers. This is not full 3D. It is more like 2.5D. It is 2D objects moving in 3D Space, not 3D objects moving in 3D Space. You could try making it all on the same layer, but I really would not know. Good luck with you flash, keep learning it.

Hey Helijac, you forgot to make a simbol first. Convert your rectangle a simbol and then you will have a 3d model to move. Hope this help U
