did he say a layer of house paint? I think that can lead to paint flaking off. House paint is not made for art applications.

@ancientcityinker I've been using valspar latex paint as primer for years and I haven't had a problem yet. it's cheaper than gesso and i find it to be a better surface for painting on.

Nice video really cool... I agree totally with you when you said "Know the rules, then you can break them"... many try to break them straight away which will result as lack of knowledge.
