It took me a really long time to get into The High End. I loved EM,DM even though I didn't like it at first, but I liked it during the second listen-through. This took me about 2 years, but only because I had such a closed mind. There's a reason why I've been a fan for so many years, it's because he's a great musician. Sure nothing mightn't beat Mech Animals or ACS, and I may hate some of the newer fans, but he's still going strong, just a different route and it sounds much more matured.

True there was a viral breakdown parody, or maybe even a bit of his real emotions being portrayed, which was great, but 4 minutes of nothing but?

And of course the beating felt so scripted. Nothing animalistic about it.

But I think that there are 2 more important problems...

1° Manson uses too much absinthe before the shows..and so he sings bad.

He has to stop drinking..so much..

This song is so brilliant. Many people claim that Manson has "sold out" but he hasn't. Just because this isn't his old stuff anymore doesn't mean he's gone mainstream. This is how he really feels. His older music was angry and that's because he was, no one's angry all the time. This song really shows how poisonous his relationship was. He and her are both hurt by the break up. While listening to EMDM, I could tell MM wasn't feeling like his old self, and this song really proves it.

since his record is ordered the way he made the songs, I think it's amazing how this song that he practically wrote for her is followed by a song about his dark fantasies of KILLING her.

Manson hasn't worn contacts since Eat Me Drink Me.He is no longer the person he used to be. He has said in interviews that this record is "just him." He was in a relationship that ended with a broken and he wishes he could kill her. I'm not offended by it, frankly I like that concept and have personally felt it myself. It's just that he has so much more potential than this. This whole album is a "safe" album. There are some decent parts but overall the genius that created the Triptych is absent.

If you're a Manson fan you should realize that he always has a deeper meaning, in terms of his lyrics and his videos. Look at aaronacidic's point. And hell, there are some songs by him that I love but don't fully understand them. But I do agree it's a very different style of video for him.

Yes, a DEEPER meaning. He constructs elaborate and intelligent metaphors. Or at least he used to. There is no metaphor here. You could argue that the whole beating-a-woman-thing IS in fact a metaphor except he would tell you that after having his heart broken, he wanted nothing more than to kill her. This video is straight-forward. It is what it is. There is no metaphor. It's just another run-of-the-mill, shock-your-parents video with no deeper meaning. His metaphors were crucial to his work.

Same here. I also hate how people will bash his new work because he isn't the "Antichrist Superstar" anymore. While AS / MA / HW were all full of things he wanted to say and points he wanted to make, they were also a STORYLINE. Any real Manson fan would know that. It's a storyline mainly, with many bits of Manson in there. I love those albums intensely. But I'm amazed by EMDM/HEOL because of the pure personality just radiating through it. It's 100% him. No characters. No plot. Just his life.
