The Stones are old men who are into getting money by kicking a dead horse that might have been great at one time but is all too worn and familiar now.
Plant actually has a zest for the present day and would rather leave Led Zeppelin's legacy to the rock historians and following generations to come rather than put it to shame because he's bored and wants money or to please people. And no, for the record Mick Jaggar can't and will never be able to hold Sir Robert Plant's mic stand.
@CamHawesMusic011 The Stones are the richest musical act on the planet. They don't need money. And the Stones are better live today than Zeppelin ever was.
Haha...I love Led Zeppelin, but you can sense the insecurity at the same time. Mr. Plant couldn't hold Mick Jagger's jock strap at this point. Stairway was tuned a whole step down at O2. Mick Jagger is, and always was, the better frontman. Excuse him for being a genius business man, and starting 6 years earlier than Plant. Yes Robert, whether you like it or not, have been influenced heavily by Mick since the very beginning. Not to mention, he could run circles round Plant with his health.
Dear ravingmad4music you are so right on ! Ultra great critique of the empty souls of blind and tasteless fools. Sir Robert Plant is a Rock God and the Biggest Rock Icon of all time.
Zeppelin wasnt all that great for Robert after 75. Bad car accident that almost killed him and his wife. Son died in 77, then Bonham is child hood friend in 80. Of all the former members, i can see why he has the most reservation of going back.
@MrSistermaryelephant I don't really know if that's really the case. I mean, car crash wasn't directly linked to Zeppelin itself, so i don't think of this as a barrier for their reunion. What i do think is what Plant said himself. It needs to be sincere and spountaneous. It needs emotion, soul, and those things can't be just recreated.
Don't do it Robert. Page is worth about 700 mil, Plant 110 mil, Jones 65 mil so $ won't be the reason - I can't thing of anything worldly that would make a reunion happen unless Page can deal with beelzebub to grant them enternal life.
Why do people think that they have to defend old Robert? It's fortunate that his American vocalist has a violin bow. You know - What would that be a substitute for in terms of Freudian parapraxis. Zeppelin got "fantastic reviews" because the Brits are desperately grasping for past glories... My teen brother thought it was absolutely comical these old wretches convoking "I want a whole lotta love". It was simply a naked grasping at publicity.
I'd Love to see Zep like anyone else, and I respect that he does not want to do the tour.I'm not mad at Robert for not doing it.I don't know if anyone else feels this way.
I can understand Roberts thinking, like I understood why Zep wasnt jumping back in the game way back in 1982, but I also think they could of and should of done something in the early 90s with JPJ and Jason to give some of the younger hard core fan's more of a taste than we got. I saw Robert solo 4x in the 80s, and the Page/Plant deal, both tours, but still not the same. It has now been 30 yrs since Bonhams death. I still remember A girl in my class had Dead Zeppelin written on her van's shoes.
You kids are lucky, I didn't have you tube when I was a kid. I loved the band when I was a teen in the 70, and the closest I ever came to seeing them was when the movie The Song Remains The Same came out in 76. Other than that it was pictures on record jackets and magazines. Now we all get to watch vintage Zep on you tube.
If you wake up one morning and find your hair has gone from jet black to silver almost overnight like Jimmy's did that should be a big clue to do something before it truly ends.
Robert Plant has grown Humble over the years, no longer the "Golden God" persona. A lot of bad stuff happened to Robert when he was with Zeppelin. 75 he and his family almost died in a car wreck in Greece. 77 his son died. 80 his best friend died. And people wonder why he keepd distance between himself and Zeppelin. Being in Zeppelin wasn't really that good for Robert.
As much as I would love to see Jones, Page & Plant get together & do something, I hope they never do! It takes "FOUR" certain people to make Led Zeppelin, & unfortunately one has passed. If they did get together, I would hope they would never call it Led Zeppelin! That's what makes Led Zeppelin so much more special than the likes of the Rolling Stones, The Who, The Grateful Dead & many more.
He looks like a different person almost. The eyes remain the same. But i get it, he doesn't wanna be one of those bored old guys doing a reunion for the sake of it. He wants it to have purpose.
Robert has some justified fears for not wanting to tour again with LZ (not being able to match 1970s LZ). However, their music continues to attract new fans. So for fans new & old, it would be a privilege to see them perform one last time. Even a poor show from LZ would be an awesome experience. God willing, they will tour one last time.
Robert is such a generous kind individual...he is what music is all about. He lives it, breathes it, and consumes it, but gives it all back to us 10 times over. I thought him to be a beautiful man when I first saw him in 1969 and he is still as beautiful as he was then. Good Karma.... Rock on ...
Yeah I have the DVD that came out in 2003. They have footage from many concerts over their career from 1970 - 1979. The way he looks and sounds in 1970 is very different from 1979. Even in 1975 he started looking and sounding old. His voice wasn't as high or as powerful. I would say he was in his peak from 1969-1973.
I take your point but Plant was never the epitome of youthfulness. Even in 1970 he looked way older than his years. He's what I would call a proper bloke.
I saw Robert in the 80's w/ the Honeydrippers as his 1st solo project after Zep 7 again 2x in the 90's once w/ Plant & Aug 2008 I saw Robert w/ this woman who I had never head of (Alison Kraus) at mohegan Sun in Ct. and the Golden God of Rock was BETTER THAN EVER!!!!! They did Zep tunes...Battle of evermore, black Dog, etc,,,please do not tell me that Robert cannot sing anymore. Hands down the best show my husband & I have ever seen and we've seen many of Plant/ Page

Robert Plant annoys me to no end. I am 38 years old and before I die I want to go to a Led Zeppelin concert. And because of this douche it probably wont happen. He must really hate Jimmy Page...
At least there's a band out there who's doing it for the music and not selling out and getting back together just because a lot of other bands happen to be doing just that. Led Zeppelin are a whole different caliber of band and as a fan (despite being too young to have ever seen them) wouldn't like it any other way to be honest.

Robert is such a cultured interesting individual, I've always loved Zepplin but never seen an interview of Robert on is own, what a man!!!!!
Also to the jerks going on about his age, I'd like to see you lot at his age, its sad people are so shallow these days they cant see further then what the media brainwashes them with, crappy teen stars with no brains or experiance. I bet no onw on here at his age or ever will have contributed and experiance what he has. Get over you empty shallow selves.
@ravingmad4music I totally see your point. He is a very cultured, well rounded (both musically and spiritually) individual. I have followed and have seen him many times. Robert is who he is at that time and ALWAYS gives his most excellent for his audience. This interview is TODAY....real musicians have a past, presnt and hopefully future. Robert has withstand time and space, he is and always will be a legend of rock-n-roll.
Great Man..only thing about the interview i wonder is why they kept chopping off the lady every time she tried to speak??Maybe Robert didn't care for her too much..
Yeah, I know what you mean. But, it's not really a bunch of friends getting together, it's an interview, and the interviewer needs to be quiet and let the guest talk.
I love Led Zep. To me their music has it all. But as much as I'd love to see the remaining members make more music, I think Robert sums up how it is from 1.36 - 2.10 in the clip. I'm glad that's his outlook.
I wish he would get Zeppelin back together. What he's doing with Allsion is great, but there is only one Led Zeppelin. The people would be so appreciative. So what if every time he goes on stage it isn't magical for him? It'll be magical for the fans who get to see it.
It's amazing to think that you could be in Led Zeppelin and not be as captured by the music as pretty much the entire world is. A lot of musicians I have met, who write songs I love, simply don't really listen to their own music with the same ear that their listeners do. To most of them, it's a project. I do agree that one can be too old to dance around on stage but it's a credit to him that we find his contribution to music so immortal.
This is the best interview Plant has ever given regarding a full-on Zeppelin reunion after the O2 show. Usually he just shrugs these questions off with dry humor.
He's right about a lot of things, but I think he still underestimates just how important and monumental a Zeppelin reunion tour would be.
Important? Maybe not. However he mentioned how right it was.
I think now is the most right time to do it of them all! But almost certainly it would be monumental.
What's brilliant is that at this time I think people will be so overcome with seeing Zep on stage again that they might not even notice that the msuic was badly played. Doubt it would be but if that's what's holding Plant back, fear, then not justified.
have you heard 'kashmir' from the O2 show? He more then nailed it....it was otherwordly. When he dosn't sing in the stratosphere, he sings awesomely....like the above mentioned song. The Krauss collaboration might not be your thing, but he most certainly sung those songs very, very well....especially live. My $.02
of course plant had to sneak a little jab to the stones. a mark of bored men??? for the money??? jagger richards watts and wood always said they do it still because.... THEY CAN. they like it, its not like there "ho hum" another tour... they live to be on the road its what the stones do. plants just pissy because he knows he dosnt have the stamina to tour like jagger still does. plants amazing, great singer. but theres a reason he said that, plant can get snotty somtimes... rightly so legend.
Well, it's not like Plant's any lesser because he doesn't have the stamina. He did get into a really bad car wreck that almost killed him, and he couldn't walk for half a year. Then his son died when he was on the road, so I can see why he'd want to put it behind him.
I bet Robert Plant has toured more extensivly in his life then the stones....he just dosn't want to do the stadium thing anymore. I will conceed to any fact finder that can prove me wrong.....I just know that Plant has been a million tours both with zep and solo through the years
i dont got a problem with plant but the way he treated jpj and his snotty interveiw after the shitty live aid concert rubbed me the wrong way. i think hes grown up a lot since then.
oh shut the fuck up, learn to accept other peoples opinions. just because im not a fucking led fan with the name ZOSOPAGE dosnt make me jealous you fucking fag.
If you meant ashamed of himself your badly wrong! If he doesn't want to do it then he doesn't want to do it. No need to be ashamed. Schofield said it himself that were prepared to wait.
Once a week I check just so I don't miss out again! I think deep down he really enjoyed it but is fearful it might not be as enjoyable the next time around!
Marijuana. I hope I look like an old leather bag, if it means I can smoke marijuana. I might find Robert and smoke a massive pipe. Drugs are amazing. And it was Jimmy Page who was the devout junkie. And he aged gracefully. Give the poor man a break, not everyone can look twenty forever. Use drugs, never abuse them. And besides, Robert Plant shall always be beautiful :)
Robert Plant and Mick Jagger are both gods! two very different gods stop trying to compare them

Great Man..only thing about the interview i wonder is why they kept chopping off the lady every time she tried to speak??Maybe Robert didn't care for her too much..
springsmix 2 years ago
Yeah, I know what you mean. But, it's not really a bunch of friends getting together, it's an interview, and the interviewer needs to be quiet and let the guest talk.

I love Led Zep. To me their music has it all. But as much as I'd love to see the remaining members make more music, I think Robert sums up how it is from 1.36 - 2.10 in the clip. I'm glad that's his outlook.
naes9 2 years ago
I wish he would get Zeppelin back together. What he's doing with Allsion is great, but there is only one Led Zeppelin. The people would be so appreciative. So what if every time he goes on stage it isn't magical for him? It'll be magical for the fans who get to see it.
hardluckhippie 2 years ago 3
Would you do something you really didn't want to do just because of a few fans? Well I know it's more than a few but still.

It's amazing to think that you could be in Led Zeppelin and not be as captured by the music as pretty much the entire world is. A lot of musicians I have met, who write songs I love, simply don't really listen to their own music with the same ear that their listeners do. To most of them, it's a project. I do agree that one can be too old to dance around on stage but it's a credit to him that we find his contribution to music so immortal.

dont let them speak robert i love you
ariya13 2 years ago 2
This is the best interview Plant has ever given regarding a full-on Zeppelin reunion after the O2 show. Usually he just shrugs these questions off with dry humor.
He's right about a lot of things, but I think he still underestimates just how important and monumental a Zeppelin reunion tour would be.
LordSupro 2 years ago 5
Important?

THEY CAN. they like it, its not like there "ho hum" another tour... they live to be on the road its what the stones do. plants just pissy because he knows he dosnt have the stamina to tour like jagger still does. plants amazing, great singer. but theres a reason he said that, plant can get snotty somtimes... rightly so legend.
cracker6910 2 years ago
Well, it's not like Plant's any lesser because he doesn't have the stamina. He did get into a really bad car wreck that almost killed him, and he couldn't walk for half a year. Then his son died when he was on the road, so I can see why he'd want to put it behind him.
demravager 2 years ago
your right the only car wreck mick jagger had to put up with was keith richards on drugs
cracker6910 2 years ago 3
I bet Robert Plant has toured more extensivly in his life then the stones....he just dosn't want to do the stadium thing anymore. I will conceed to any fact finder that can prove me wrong.....I just know that Plant has been a million tours both with zep and solo through the years
AmieMcA 2 years ago
i dont got a problem with plant but the way he treated jpj and his snotty interveiw after the shitty live aid concert rubbed me the wrong way. i think hes grown up a lot since then.

BAGREM 2 years ago
