(Iwonder how many times they've played there at least 4 times that I know of - if you count the weeklong engagements - 20?). Probably more - it's their Home Away From Home!
I'm 3/4's of the way thru Greg's "Travels With My Amp". What a hoot - it's like being with him on an unbelievable journey of mayhem topped with sex, drugs & rock n' roll - a must read!!
I seen (one of many) them at the Great Canadian Rocky Mountain Party (Sudbury)... they played Sat. afternoon... but they should of played much later... by far one of the top bands at the event.....
i was 4 and Goddo lived on the main floor and our family lived on the top flat. i went down and that was my first Rock..... and so the story began!! \m/ \m/ Still one of my favourite songs right here!!
We had Greg and the band at the queens. We brought them in in 76 and again in 77.
Goddo has always been one of my fav bands.
Let me remember, Greg was wearin a a black silk blouse with a red rose on the brest, black platforms with hand painted roses on them and black satin pants...Aways the showman...
@belaraymusic Back in '68, 69, I used to live a block from the Knob and stumbled home many a night from that good old place. I saw some of the finest TO talent there. Rose, Wilcox, Godo and on and on... back in the days where the waiters were old men with the black aprons ...lol Ahhh yes... the Knob!! what memories!
I saw these guys in St.Kitts as a 19 yr.old.Greg was on stage wearing black velvet pants and was wiggling his ass as though there might be some be some poor teenage tart in the audience who might take the bait.If that wasn't enough,he repeatedly referred to himself as a rockstar.I couldn't help but thin how desperate his record company must have been to sign a, not even, second rate act like this.
Good god, my first ever "performance" singing along with the boys at Tony's East Scarberia while my friend rolled a fat dube in the front row was to this tune!
I am a Toronto boy born and raised and from all the bar bands I saw as a teen GODDO is one, if not the best bar band that I ever saw. I play this song for my friends and they are like " who is this? this song is amazing".
Fuckin amazing.
At some point it became acceptable for musicians to have minimal skill.
Thank fuck for these guys and all the other real musicians that don't get air play on shitty radio.

its funny you mention the Piccadilly. My dad's band, Bayb, closed the club with its final show.
tesrecruit 2 years ago
who is your dad?
i hear that Bayb is back... recording something... true???
maybe they would like some guitar licks from bela ray... a fellow guitarist from the late classic rock 70's era...
assuming they are still in the Toronto area...
otherwise...
be well, happy, and peaceful
