I just load a weight I know I can handle safely and crank away until gravity gets the upper hand. I only do a few sets per workout because 1) that's all that is necessary and 2) the quality of muscle contractions seems to diminish exponentially after a certain point and 3) historically I've gotten minor injuries when doing too many sets.
I eat cheap protein powder--whatever I can get cheapest without too much artificial garbage additives. I don't believe protein powders are necessarily better than any other protein form fish, eggs, dairy, meat, etc. But powders are cheaper per gram, last longer on the shelf (without refrigeration), are much more convenient, and are generally better ecological choices.
To me, creatine, NO, etc. are philospohically the same as anabolics. I want to know what my body can do without chemicals.
that is interesting that u say that about creatine and other supplements. im 19 and ive tried testosterone booster (anabolic halo), a couple different proteins, different creatines, luekic/gakic, and multivitamins. all you really need to use to get a better pump/workout is a good protein based supplement and a good multivitamins xD. so its better if u dont waste your money like what youre doing.
