I still remember getting Final Fight for my birthday and then being pissed off it wasn't co-op. In retrospect I probably I looked like a spoiled little bastard complaining like that, but damn they shouldn't have taken that out. Still a fun game though. TMNT: Turtles in Time, Peace Keepers and Ninja Warriors were probably my favorites, the latter two were probably a little overlooked. Ninja Warriors was really, really awesome I remember :D
My top 12 would be: 1. Dungeons and Dragons: Tower of Doom 2. Streets of Rage 2 3. Cadillacs and Dinosaurs 4. Punisher 5. Aliens vs Predator 6. King of Dragons 7. Knights of The Round 8. Metamorphic Force 9. Final Fight 3 10. TMNT IV: Turtles in Time 11. Undercover Cops 12. Captain Commando
streets of rage = greatest game of all time.....Lil Wayne = shit.....If you like rap chek out my page or type in Zeeblud...its me spittin chek it out!!
I like it when people post their own top's without the your video suck or crap thing. We get to know other games as well. In the end it's your call and my call on what we think is the best.
These are the games that really not only helped Konami out with their legendary beat-em-ups, along with such games like Jail Break and Crime Stoppers, but it also helped make the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles into a still enduring household name. These games have lasted so long that ports to the PS2, XBox, GameCube, PS3, XBox 360, and Wii have either been in other newer TMNT games or that could be bought on any online game store. Play these games.
8. TMNT II: The Arcade Game/TMNT: The Arcade Game/ TMNT 1 for the NES/Famicom, arcade, PS2, XBox, GameCube, and possibly XBox 360, PS3, and Wii, TMNT III: Manhattan Project/TMNT II: The Manhattan Project for the NES/Famicom and possibly Wii, and TMNT (2) : Turtles in Time/TMNT IV: Turtles in Time/TMNT: The HyperStone Heist for the SNES/Super Famicom, Sega Genesis/MegaDrive, arcade, PS2, XBox, GameCube, PS3, XBox 360, and Wii. I will tell you why these games are good in another post.
9. Final Fight series for the arcade, SNES, GBA, Sega CD, NES, PS2, PS3, XBox, Xbox 360, and Wii. While some games that were in the series sucked (Final Fight: Revenge for the Sega Saturn and Final fight: streetwise for the PS2 and XBox come to mind), the arcade game and the two SNES sequels were easily some of the best beat-em-ups back in the day. Final Fight for the SNES, however, kind of sucked, so you should play it on the GBA instead.
10. The Pirates of Dark Water for the Sega Genesis and SNES, though only the SNES version was a true beat-em-up game. Crappy and lifeless sound effects, not to mention a lack of real enemy diversity and weapons to bludgeon your enemies with over and over again, really hampered an otherwise good game with a pretty good combat scheme. The seventh boss fight was more like a side-scrolling shooter than an actual beat-em-up fight, which really sucked to be honest.
11. The Golden Axe series for the arcade, Sega Genesis/MegaDrive, Sony PS2, Sony PS3, Microsoft XBox 360, Nintendo Wii, and possibly the Nintendo GameCube. While the combat itself is not much above that of Double Dragon, the storyline itself is far more interesting and deeper than the aforementioned game and it also paved the way for games like King of Dragons, the Dungeons and Dragons games, the Sengoku trilogy, and other like-minded beat-em-up games.
Eh, nope. You are obviously a rookie at this game, spacemutant. Now let me tell you the REAL damn list of top 12 console beat-em-ups!
12. Double Dragon Advance for the GBA. Sure, it is the best Double Dragon game on any system, even the arcade, but when it is all said and done, other games did the thing better and far more innovative in the future.
I think it could have done with some more literal "Fight Music." I'd also say when top 10 (or 12 =P) lists are done without actual game footage you should go for about 3 minutes, because looking at images can get boring.
i feel bad for all those dudes with punk haircut, they are beat up in every game
