  • PHO IS ALREADY VERY HEALTHY ....why did you create something that is not even PHO ..dont call it PHO...please name it with a different name

  • I find this to be very funny cause she actually thinks thats pho! lol....why get mad people? she should be the one mad for posting such a dumb video of herself! we should be the one pointing fingers while laughing!

  • How is this healthier or fast? All you did was boil the fuck out of some spices. BEAN noodles ARE NOT a substitute for RICE noodles. Pho is a noodle dish. This is the equivalent of saying im making spaghetti and i served you BEAN sprouts cooked in tomato sauce. AND ITS NOT HEALTHIER OR FASTER THAN PHO NORMALLY IS.

  • theres nothing incredibly more healthy than pho in this! and from a cooks point of view it sounds ridiculously bland!!!! This is so wrong!!

  • You can't EVER make a fast version of "Pho". Real Pho takes a couple of hours to make. If you can't make it right just dont make it at all. This is sad n a disgrace to Vietnamese people.

  • this girl is trying so hard as well.. you cant knock her enthusiasm!!

    :P

  • this makes me sad :(

  • PHO is already a healthy food. This chic make it seem like the original pho is not healthy. What make her pho so healthy compare to the original? NOTHING

  • Comment removed

  • i don't think the noodles should be brown

fish sauce shouldn't be in Pho

you need chili sauce and some Hoisin sauce.

I don't think Pho is suppose to be salty

My mom puts the noodles in water and soak it. Why is ginger cinnamon in there? why are your ingredients so messed up?

  • ready made beef broth = FAIL

  • I Know How To Cook PHO Because Im Vietnamese

  • this girl can suck a basketball through a garden hose

  • Did yu notice the corny title in the begining off the video "Phast Pho" soo lame..... Ughh another white person on youtube trying tew make pho ...-__-

  • this girl sux ass.......

  • cool

  • you cant say pho for freaken @ss

and you cant make it right stop making un of

    yourself

  • you suck at cooking... please give up. WHO WANTS TO LEARN TO COOK FROM SOMEONE WHO CANT CHOP AN ONION??? not me...

  • lol she seems stoned

  • its suppose to be healthy but FAST you guys are dumbasses it isnt suppose to be exactly like pho

  • phuh and its not french its viet.

  • if you what to eat good PH-OO not phaa

go to the nearest vietnamese resturant

  • this should be label'd ''white ppl's noodle soup''

i dont even know where to start, but almost everything is done wrong in here ;[

  • @inlacrima2013 Hahahaha that is great.. i had some Phoo in london and im not sure if the chef was vietnamese or even asian, it was still really good :D

  • don't be racist you racist person, RACIST RACIST LOLOLOLOL.

  • lol ur hilarious!

  • Thought the same thing, but for what it is, it is pretty good!

  • Some ppl needs to grow up....I am asian and I make some bomb ass mexican food...now what? It doesn't matter who cooks it...the point of this video is "healthier version of pho". you got something to complain about then make your own video....ugh

  • lol you are so right

  • It's black 0_0

  • Wonderful to watch my favourite soup being made. Kudos and Thank yous.

  • damn, whys your pho broth so black rofl, and dont cook your noodles in the broth, do that seperate ;p

  • duh didn't you hear her say that its already made beef broth? you can buy already made beef broth and it comes in a dark color...you should be proud of this dish...ppl like it...where is your vid?

  • oh shit! pho REAL!!!!??

  • I don't care what her race is.This really has nothing to do with the fact that's she's white. Instead, it's a pho made by someone who just happens to be white and obviously doesn't have the best recipe for it. I've even had pho prepared by Vietnamese that tasted like this girl's version. It wasn't tasty. On the other hand, I've had pho prepared by Vietnamese that was delicious and clearly didn't cut corners. To prepare a good pho does take hours and a made-from-scratch beef broth.

  • "Our healthier twist changes the noodle type and omits the sugary Hoisin sauce condiment that is traditional."

Why change the noodle type? It's all good no matter what. Plus, Hoisin sauce isn't necessary for it anyway.

Also, I noticed she's using my soup bowls, haha.

  • Rice noodles are bad for you, and im not talking about this pho im talking about pho overall you dont know what they add in it ex msg which has huge amounts of sodium which can lead to many other bad things D:

  • Kudos my dear! I'm Asian & I make a quick pho similar 2 urs! Stock iz amazing w/ginger, star anise, clove (comforting aromatics), thinly sliced green onionz, shallots - pretty much whatever U like! Pho is so very versatile! U can add whatever U like, yeah, U can have whatever U want, yeah (T.I. iz SO cute! I'd let him hit it). I add a wee bit O'plum sauce & sriracha chili b4 eating my lava hot pho, I add the red chili & basil as I am eating so the basil doesn't wilt & my tongue won't catch fire!

  • pho is not healthy <_<

  • What's not healthy about it?

I think you know not of what you speak.

  • hahaha she is so cute tho, but I don't like the colour of the soup and the noodles.

  • hahahhah a white person's pho...

  • wut the heck is steronese?

  • Star anise, its an aromatic, a dried up looking star (no, I'm not talking about Tara Reid - no offense all U Tara-dise fans, I like Ms. Reid as well! Tara's no Donna Reed but she's still as cute as a button!)

  • I think the beef looked yummy.

  • How do you make a healthier version of an already overall healthy dish?! Why mess with the classic?!?!?!

  • that looks so gross

  • Yes, to make pho you use cinnamon. I know I cook pho for a restaurant.

  • i hate you you dont even say it right you cant cook i wont ever eat that hing if i was dieing from hungry

  • She did not know how to make pho let alone a healthier version. I wouldn't eat that thing.

  • Hmm, I thought that would be something nice, but not at all!

I'm sorry to say I wouldn't give this to eat to my dog!

  • Anyone who could imitate pho is cool. You could use any kind of left over meat to make PHO. Enjoy... There's no mistake in PHO.

  • this girl is awkward...and the "pho" is hilarious.

  • wow that fails... not even how u make it, cinnamon? <---WTF?

  • she's cute.

  • that's why it's called "A HEALTHIER VERSION"! food, it doesn't matter what it is, it's up to the individual on how they like their oriental flavors!!!!

  • where the frick did she get this recipe? of all things...CINNAMON?!

  • and who the hell called Pho a Laos dish?!?! it's Vietnamese for goodness' sake!

Laos has an imitation Pho, but it'll NEVER be pho. Get it right!

  • ...this video disappointed me to an extreme. pho, along with any other comfort food, should NEVER be tampered with. i swear, once she put it in ready-made beef broth...ugh...obviously, if no one in vietnam tried to make a healthier version of pho, it obviously means that we don't want it tampered with! vietnam already has enough healthy foods to consume and we don't need a "healthier" version of pho...and by the way, it's pronounced "fueh" not "fuha". unbelievable.

  • Oh man..... I'm speechless.. You can call this your own soup invention. It's fine, but please don't use the term Vietnamese Pho. This is a joke and please don't use that term Vietnamese Pho.. Please Please Please

  • A for effort. at least she's trying and appreciates the dish. fyi ppl, its "pho" not phuh, fah or anything deviated from that at all. i dont care if you're loas and you think she should pronounce it any different,, pho is not an authentic loas dish,, take it from someone who is vietnamese --- give her a break, she's trying.

  • @taborchik

Check it out.....Pho is vietnamese dish and not Lao's !!! LOL

  • what the pho?

  • I followed this recipe to a tee and it was DELICIOUS.

  • you should ask some1 for help making pho because you dont have the right things to make pho (you should ask some1 asian)

  • you dont even know how to make pho and you cant say it right its pho not pha you should practice more because you suck ^.^ i know because im asian

  • I give her an "A" for effort. But I thought this was supposed to be a "healthier" version of pho. I know it's a knockoff ghetto version, but healthier? You couldn't get a Vietnamese person to eat it. No offense Michelle, ur cute and all but no. Show us some Austrailian cuisine!

  • so what if she made a quick version of pho

omg! the broth is too dark!!! travesty!

omg she's Australian and pronounces it differently!! CRY!

holy shit she's white. SHE'S wrong... from the get go... white people can't cook other ethnicity's food.

    you guys are ridiculous.

  • ah...australian accent!

  • lol! i guess this vid is only for non-asian people...

  • a (fah)? isnt it Pho(foe)

  • It's actually Pho (sounds like fah if said in vietnamese, usually with an accent sign)

  • more like Fuh

  • ew that is black. it should be wayy lighter.

  • whoa no offense but this lady here has no idea what she is doing ;o...

  • this thing looks like coke and why did u put cinnamon in pho?

  • The original pho has cinnamon- the ginger, cinnamon and anice (licorice flavor) all make Pho- PHO! It sounds funny, but get all 3 together and smell them, it smells like Pho

    :)

  • pho is nothing to be rushed with when preparing. 95% of a good tasting pho comes from the long process of simmering all the beef bones, beef, spices and veggies that becomes the soup base of pho. so replacing that process with a canned store broth is insulting to the name ''pho'' what you have here is top ramen with the typical pho vegetable garnish.

  • loll u have a lazy tong

  • That looks disgusting. The soup looks dark and ughhhh. I guess she doesn't know what Hoison sauce is!

If you call broth from a can (with Sodium up the ass and enough MSG to kill you) healthy, then you must be reallllllyy dumb. Pho is a lot more than a seven minute process.

Sorry, don't mean to be rude but I have to say it...This is 'white people pho.' Yes we do say that.

  • yeah, its definelty not the healthy-er version... Didnt think Pho was that bad for you in the first place... sure its got lots of sodium, but thats all thats bad for you. Asian food usualy has lots of sodium.

    She really didnt do anything...

  • yeah if you want all your family and friends to laugh at you and throw up then use her ingredience. I can't believe what I'm watching. This chick is lame. She needs a refresher course on real vietnamese cooking and learn the culture.

  • I'm sorry to say this, but this chick has NO clue what pho is and how to make it. First of all you don't use cinnamon and chilli. She also used the wrong kind of noodles. It looks like shit and probably taste the same. you don't use mint leaves either.

  • did she say cinnamon ?

  • Lol @ how she pronounces it

    Its FuuuuUUUUUHH!

  • Its "Phuuh" not Phau

     :)

  • yeah im making pho right now

since im laos its funny hearing some other race say it hahahahhahahahahhaha jk

  • what happened to the noodles?

oh yeah..at the bottom (enough to feed a mouse).

  • I don't want to seem mean but its bothering me and i have to say it. she is half fasting everything...like she is in a hurry to get the video done. and the food does not even look somewhat professional.

  • OMG she missed it up she forgot to add sum ingredients rofl. bet she doesn't kno how to make the real laos pho.

  • phuhhhhh, not fAAAAHHHHRRR

  • why is the soup black?

  • just buy some instant pho and make it ffs don't bother doing this video or make it right at least

  • you cant make a new recipe for pho, its a tradition. and pho is always healthy and sooooo good

  • Wow, first time I seen noodle cooked in the quick broth... Don't want to sound rude, but I think TV dinner is quick and better than that alternative...hmmm

  • its not pha its pho

  • its pronouced pha

  • it's pronounced "fur" without the r, and there's accent on the word too, it's actually pho'? but there's no Vietnamese accents on the keyboard...

  • lol.. you keep pronouncing it that way..

  • its pronounces "phoa" its the way loas people pronounce it

  • its not "phoa",, dont butcher the language like you butcher the food. its a vietnameses dish not a loas dish, say..."P.H.O" not phoa.. lame!

  • People, please don't try to attempt what she attemped because I was LOLing the whole time. She messed up the noodles and the broth... if you don't know how to make it then please don't make it all, you ruined the good name of Pho. And what's worse is.. you can't even pronounce it correctly.

    Viet for life!

  • That's funny... others have actually THANKED her for pronouncing it correct!

  • Wonderful soup, Michelle, and thank you for introducing/Westernizing traditional Eastern dishes so that they may eventually find a new audience. I also appreciate your effort to use healthful ingredients, although pho itself isn't traditionally bad. The use of coconut milk and coconut in general is the worst health problem in that region's food.

I'll have to try your quick version of pho.

  • you dont have to cook the meat, just put it on a plate and squeeze some lime on it and just eat it

  • WTH Vietnamese ppl dont even eat it like that in vietnam.we dont even eat the meant raw

  • the soup is not suppose to be black untill you add the black sauce

  • its called hoisen sauce.

  • cooking that fst is not healthy. ever heard of fast food. fast food= unhealthy except for some but not this. Pho cooked slow is way better tasting and looks better, also the traditional way is way healthier. you made it wrong too

  • This looks very gross! Why mess up a traditional recipe that has worked well for hundreds of years. If you don't know what you are doing...why do it!

  • there are no vietnamese restaurants where i live, so i tried this recipe and loved it. i never knew one of my favorite meals was so easy to make. and i don't have to drive 50 miles to get it! thanks

  • The whole reason of making this Vietnamese dish, is to have all the flavour, and even though the dish takes long, it's suppose to be worth the wait! Fish?? It's beef dammit!! And that's the wrong noodle too. It's suppose to be a nice and FLAT noodle.

  • lol nobody can change the way of pho! pho will always have its own tasty and MSG way

  • that does not look good..

  • that noodle she used we called as "mien". Pho is has white colour and little bigger than "mien"

  • This looks too much like someone in a hurry. If that was the case, why go through all the trouble, just use instant noodles, add all the fresh meat, basils etc. It'll taste just as good if not better since it's instant noodles packets got MSG!! MSG is healthier than eating food cooked from someone who doesn't seem to care much.

  • LoL when u talk about the eroma's spreading through ur house.. u kinda look stoned. haha

    nice quicky version of pho'.

  • LoL when u talk about the eroma's spreading through ur house.. u kinda look stoned. haha

    nice quicky version of pho'.

  • Hey Michelle, I like your Pho*? . But the

real pho*? has a clear looked broth, not dark

and merky. Nobody eat pho*? with fish sauce, hihihihhi. But you are the first that put fish sauce in pho*? like I do. Great video .

  • that's false....tons of ppl eat pho with fish sauce. that's y they serve it at pho restaurants so that u can customize it to ur own taste. DUH!

  • fish sauce to pho? Yuk! you confused it with vermicelli i assumed.

  • I doubt she confused a sauce for a noodle!

  • Pho rocks! This may not be my version of Pho, but I admire that you can take what is great and make it your own. Good job!

  • Nice try with a quick version of the recipe. With the fast pace of how things are these days, we all need our food quick and to go. However, I still would rather recommend for you to make it the traditional way, which is much healthier as long as you don't add too much of certain ingredients. But kudos to you for trying!

  • so uh when did we start eating pho with fish sauce?

  • since you discovered Thailand and Laos have cuisines too.

  • i am vietnam, but she is not real cooking, its' make me can't eat your Pho

  • well, im vietnamese & i still think it's a great video, we not talking about authentic here. rather we should b proud cuz our food so good that other countries r adapting it. thailand has thailand's pho and it's beef w/ tomatoes. every vietnamese would think it's wrong but it actually taste great. c'mon, lighten up

  • pho is the best

  • lady, stop trying to americanize oriental food.

  • I think you mean Australianize.

  • yes, lol, thats what i mean.

  • Westernize.

  • Technically, isn't Australia SOUTH of Viet Nam?

  • I'm crying... It hurts so bad

Sorry but looks weird compared to real pho

  • its a quick version, but its the wrong way, great try

  • dumbass dont you listen to the words she said? she is make quick version. of course she using beef broth for quick version. she is not dumb.

  • Call it a Faux Phô if you will.

The 2 points of contention seem to be the color of the broth and the noodles so I'll address both.

The broth color is because I used packaged beef stock which has food coloring in it. I do explain how to make your own broth and acknowledge that it's MUCH tastier.

Noodles where chosen because they are easily available and healthier than the traditional (and tastier) wide Pho noodle.

All recipes are only guidelines please experiment & post vid response

    Michelle HHTV

  • Umm, Michelle, if I didn't watch the video I would assume you are American also. Simply from this post. I don't mean to be pedantic. Yet it's colour, not color. :P

  • i think she is british because of the accent.

  • She isn't British, she is Australian. And it wouldn't matter if she was English, as English-English is the same Spelling as Australian-English. blahhh......:)

  • I am Vietnamese and I eat Pho a lot. This is not Pho.

  • i think everyone is missing the point of the video, its a A healthier/simply QUICK version of Pho. i think the video is great!

  • Uh...this isn't even Pho. The broth isn't suppose to be that dark and the noodle is what makes pho different from every other noodle soup. If you can't get the noodle right, how the heck is it Pho?

  • all wrong

  • My friend, you are starting to sound like a broken record. Your opinion is duly noted.

  • Wtf is this?? It's not true pho sorry.

  • She almost lopped off some fingers with that onion effort!

  • Please do not try this Pho for it is not even close to the real thing. Wrong noodle, not enough stock meat, where is the hoisin to go with the meat? Western version needs improvement. Thanks for your effort and for eating neo Vietnamese version of PHO.

  • Please understand that HHTV isn't about making perfectly authentic recipes. Rather, we show how to adapt great foods to fit a healthy lifestyle.

Though Pho is a pretty healthy dish to start with, we show how to reduce carbs and increase fiber by changing the traditional noodle and omitting the sugary hoisin.

If you are not on a diet (or diabetic), by all means, enjoy traditional Pho - it is delicious and nutritious! If, however, you need an alternative, we hope you will enjoy this version.

  • you should not change the recipe of pho its a family tradition

  • Then every family would have its own recipe? So whose is "correct"?

  • me!

  • your mean dumbie

  • she can't make pho, but atleast she is trying!

  • wait....i just finished the video. i have to give her credit her pho actually looks alright, and plus she's cute with her little accent.

  • This kinda of soup is weird, it's totally not the vietnamese traditional Phở.

  • omigod r u frekin kidding me that stuff would kill me and u forgot the hot sauce

  • im sorry...this is not a true pho..

  • thats true this is bull shit

  • yes i agree with you, making the broth from scratch is better

  • Woah woman....This is not PHO?!...You use rice noodles....not bean noodles..oh my..I bet that doesnt taste as good!the broth is all wrong. all of this is all wrong.. I've never seen these ingrediants before on a pho soup......

oh and lol you can see how crappy it was when you put it in the bowl...lol hahaha..

  • incredible!

  • what about the hoi sin sauce??? oh my....

  • This is the worst pho video on You Tube. Messy preparation, and the making the broth from scratch is one of the key components of pho itself. Not some boxed/canned/boullion broth. True pho broth is simmered for 24 hours, but you can do it in 2 or 3 for a quick fix. Bean noodles? C'mon! Why not just buy instant pho soup, already.

  • This was a train wreck...Vietnamese cooks are turning in their graves.

  • ok, amiga , I give you 5 stars , we need more details , using strainner after you're done with cinamin, herb stuffs... when you get the broil with banh-pho , you will Not taste bitter in your mouth.

  • cinnamon? damn thats a first... where did that come from?

  • Here in Saigon it's more of a "phuh" sound.

  • Yeah, the o should have an accent mark above it. That ^ on is the wrong one. I used to live in Massachusetts and my favorite Pho restaurants are in and around Boston.

  • Kudo to you for attempting to make Pho but you got a few ingredient wrong. Please do a few research and post again.

hints: firstly it is spell as pho*? not with ^ symbol. pronounced as "Fuh". secondly, you used the wrong noodle. you don't put the noodles into the pot while boiling because that will over cook the noodle making it soggy.

  • Here in Massachusetts, all the Vietnamese restaurants spell it with the ô. These are restaurants owned by Vietnamese families.

I don't speak or read the language, so it's not for me to say, but I do have to wonder why they would do that if it is incorrect. It CAN'T be to Americanize the spelling as US English doesn't have ô.

  • I don't really know why it is spelled like that at where you are, but the correct spelling of Pho is as Pho*?, that "o" has 2 extra symbols which ASCII doesn't seem to have. Maybe that's the reason you/they used ô instead? to do the correct spelling on your videos you would need to install Vietnamese fonts eg VietKey. Anywayz, Thanks for the Video.

  • every vietnamese word in vietnam is spelled with a symbol.so spelling it Pho is wrong it has to have a symbol like Phô or Phở.
