This IS great, but I think "best" Gig is a personal choice for each of us. Have in my Floyd playlist Gig loaded tons of times (my fav tune of all time....raw emotion...mind blowing for a song meant as a "filler".) My playlist has in a row, Clare in Gig album, Clare live. this one, then my fav with Sam Brown it starts with white chick w/dark hair, Sam, then hispanic chick. It just reaches in and grabs my guts/heart/soul. Crowd's reaction is mine. No "best" really, it's each one's taste, imo

These women are struggling to come up to par with her. They're doing their own renditions which accomplish the task, but Clare's original was an inspired, unexpected, incredibly fortuitous event which imprints the song forever as much as Wright's music. She well deserves the co-authorship credit and compensation she won in her lawsuit in 2005.

@Tressiensia Bianca does the best job of mimicking Clare's notes, timing, and vocal range, but she fails in a major way. The song is about death. Do you hear any death in Bianca's version? Much emotion at all? Is she living and experiencing through the song? You can hear Clare "experiencing" death in the original. That was her assignment and she conveyed the associated emotions through her improvisation with masterful genius.

I consider myself to be a critic, but when I watch that live performance of Bianca, and all the people cheering and having a ball regardless of the fine print, I just have to get on that wagon. She DOES have a great voice. =)

@Tressiensia Bianca makes it look pretty effortless--too much so. Someone should remind her she's a performer. She needs to kick her body into gear. She's obviously got great range. Hopefully she 's trying to challenge that range with energy and raw emotion on some original compositions. I actually like Sam Brown's version here better. She doesn't have Clare's subtle texture, but she DOES kick ass and almost make it her own. I saw the Floyd do this in 1973. It was a wild, memorable concert.

Still, Clare's textures are much better at relaying the subject of death, which is what this song is about. No one's done that better that I have heard.
